Chapter 694 - Joyous Circumstances

Chapter 694: Joyous Circumstances

This place resembled a stone array with boulders lying in disarray all around. White mist filled the air and if one were to rashly burst into the area, they would get lost very easily.

This was the ruins of what used to be the Qilin’s nest where the auspicious animal resided.

Many rocks were piled up together in clusters like a pyramid. There were also clusters of rocks that resembled a miniature stone mountain. It was rich in energy and was many times stronger than many mountains.

“I feel like I’m about to ascend. My body is so light and my spiritual power is so strong! Hee-haw, hee-haw!” Old Donkey cried out. His four hooves were shining as though they were about to lift off the ground.

He was swallowing the multicolored light and mist in large gulps. This made him sparkle, and his fur shone as though he were plated with a layer of metal. He could feel how powerful he was.

“Don’t be careless. The cloudeater realm is very important. You can consume clouds and qi after you breakthrough. From then on, you’ll be like the immortal deities from ancient legends whose marvelous techniques and god-like abilities would occasionally surge forth and appear on their own.”

Chu Feng warned them not to relax, instead urging them to experience the process attentively.

He was truly worried. After all, a few of the great demons had recently made successive breakthroughs. He was afraid their evolutionary foundations were unstable. Even if they took the Deity Elixir to cure whatever hidden injuries they had, they would still lack maturity in matters of enlightenment and so forth.

“Brother, don’t worry. There’s something you probably overlooked,” said the black yak. He then continued in a serious tone that was rarely heard, “Take me for example. It’s been a hundred years since my spiritual intelligence opened up. Even though I lacked the opportunity to obtain evolution fruits in advance, I’ve been awakening along with the heaven and earth. Putting it in more direct terms, we’re spiritual demons. The order fragments of this planet have been nourishing us after we activated our spirit roots.”

He brought up a fact that Chu Feng hadn’t considered before. Strictly speaking, this group of great demons was the earth’s first-born spiritual life forms.

They had already become sentient, but they couldn’t rapidly strengthen their constitution because they lacked the corresponding pollens and medicines before the great upheaval.

However, the mother planet was recovering, which meant that the order fragments were surging. These order fragments which were the most effective on spiritual life forms had already permeated into their bodies.

Actually, this was the basis of how these spiritual demons had come into existence!

“What you’re saying is, you guys actually have abundant accumulations and have through the baptism of countless years alongside earth’s recovery. You’ve accumulated the law fragments at the coming of the new age?” asked Chu Feng, a peculiar look showing on his face. He was stunned for a moment as many thoughts ran through his mind, and his interest suddenly perked.

“That is essentially true.” The black yak nodded.

“How do you know of such a thing?” Chu Feng was curious.

“The personal notes written by our predecessors that I retrieved from Mount Eternal detailed the changes that would happen after the end of the era,” said Ouyang Feng as he looked at Chu Feng with slanted eyes.

Yellow Ox nodded and said, “Actually, it’s not limited to us alone. You’re the same as well. Why do you think endless fortunes were created when earth was recovering? Above all, why do you think a year’s worth of cultivation here equates to ten or a hundred years that of the outside world after the great upheaval? It is because various life forms on this planet are accumulating the order fragments that the mother star is rapidly activating during its awakening. We are growing together with the mother star and so, we are rapidly evolving too.”

Chu Feng nodded because he thought it made a lot of sense.

“So, brother, you don’t need to worry about us. Look, other than you, Little Yellow and a few others, which one of us isn’t an old fellow who has accumulated valuable experience over a hundred years? You can assume that we’ve accumulated a lot of the mother star’s order fragments in our bodies. If we were to attentively look within us and gain a sense for it, we’re sure to succeed.”

Chu Feng subconsciously nodded. These were questions he had never considered, and so he was rather enlightened today.

This group of great demons were the strongest spiritual life forms on earth. In the years that they couldn’t evolve in the final era, they’d actually lived for hundreds of years. This could definitely be considered to be a wonder of life.

“So, it’s all because of the order fragments.” He sighed, but soon felt happy for them because this meant that the great demons could go even further in life and their increase in strength. It would be very astonishing.

Taking a closer look at them, even Wudang Grandmaster Wu Qifeng and Old Lama from the Western regions were astonishing anomalies. They were 100 years of age and could be considered to be so old that they had become spirits.

“What you mean to say is that everyone’s spirituality is extremely strong that you guys opened up your spirit roots hundreds of years ago and accumulated wisdom until now?” A look of glee shone on Chu Feng’s face as he exhaled deeply.

“That’s not all. You know that I wandered around Kunlun for hundreds of years, right? I frequently stayed in temples and heard senior monks recite Buddhist doctrines and explain the meditative principles. After going through the baptisms of different temples, it’s unlikely that my skills are beneath that of Old Lama’s.”

The Mastiff King nodded. His past experience was tinted with legendary tales too. Hundreds of years ago, he was once a holy beast protecting one temple after another, similarly toward the Western regions.

The legends of Kunlun Mountain Range’s holy beasts had some sort of affiliation to them.

Manchurian Tiger chuckled and said, “When I was rampaging through Siberia and Manchuria hundreds of years ago, I herded wild boar and gathered old ginseng to make tonics. I am more impressive than the most experienced herder and medicine gatherer. Besides, I was once a mountain god for a worn out temple in a mountain forest for a very long period of time.”

Chu Feng had a strange expression on his face as he said, “You knew how to raise wild animals, gather ginseng, and was once a mountain god hundreds of years ago? You really are a demon!”

He then looked at everyone else. As expected, they were all deities who had become spirits a long time ago. They’d already done many things hundreds of years ago that a normal human was unlikely to do.

For example, there were truly too many folklores among the people about Great Immortal Hu, who was not only Hu Sheng’s grandfather, but the Fox King too.

When it was time for Old Donkey to speak, he blew his own trumpet and said, “I was born in Jiangnan. I read the Book of Songs and the Book of History intensively, am proficient in painting and calligraphy, can recite and write poems...”

“Go over to the other side!” chided everyone. This donkey really knew how to talk big.

Old Donkey didn’t like to listen to orders. Feeling somewhat agitated, he said, “Really! My poetic inspirations always hit me during the time I spent in the mountain. If you don’t believe me, listen up. Hee-haw, hee-haw! Oh yak, you’re as black as a ghost. Oh Toad, your head is green. Oh Horse, you have four legs. Oh Donkey, you’re a dragon sleeping amongst humans! What do you think about that?”

At this moment, black yak’s face turned even darker. Toad wanted to spit a mouthful of saliva at Old Donkey whereas the Horse King rubbed his bald and shiny head indifferently.

Everyone really couldn’t stand him any longer, so they voiced their objection for him to shut up.

At this moment, the four-horned Zhou Quan was about to cry. With a gloomy expression, he said, “You’re all old demons who have lived hundreds of years, so you’ve all accumulated a lot of order fragments and valuable experience. On the other hand, a primate like me is at the bottom now.”

“It’s alright. I’m just like you. I haven’t accumulated much experience either.” Chu Feng patted his shoulders and comforted him.

“You haven’t, yet you can already enter the cosmos and bring harm to other races,” mumbled Zhou Quan.

The Dragoness smiled and said, “Everyone, don’t let your mind wander. It’s best if you quickly cultivate and stabilize the cloudeater realm.”

“You’re right. I can’t wait. I want to leave immediately and take revenge on the Jun Tuo eggs that descended in the outer realms, especially the spirit race. Of course, there are the native Innocuous Divine Physique, Penglai, and Yingzhou.”

“Right! Let’s hurry! We’re definitely going to go hunting when we leave. We can crush them in terms of realms and strength!”

The great beasts roared in excitement and stirred themselves up because they really had been holding back all this time.

Inside the stone forest, there were clusters of purple flowers bearing the luster of gems with buds the size of bowls. Propitious vapours and multicoloured light rose together, clearly indicating that there was a wondrous energy substance in it.

These buds were peculiar because the petals had qilin pictures on them. It was very fascinating!

Pop!

Above all, some buds blossomed and emitted faint sounds along with the breathing of those present. Following which, a strong fragrance assailed their nostrils, bewitching them to stay here.

That wasn’t all. When the buds bloomed, multicolored light and immortal mist surged out. The combination was too strong. That bud was very strange. When someone opened their mouth to breath, it would emit mist and light with pollen, flying toward that person alone.

Thankfully, there were clusters of qilin flowers here that were enough for this group of great demons to use.

Evidently, this was one of the most precious presents that the ruins of the qilin nest.

The qilin flower was priceless because it was a plant that flourished out of the mix of the qilin’s vitality and energy after having stayed here for a long period of time.

Qilin light shone where the bud bloomed.

An unknown length of time passed in this manner.

Yellow Ox and Ouyang Feng broke through first. Yellow Ox shone with a brilliant golden light, bathing everything with divine radiance. On the other hand, Toad convulsed as though it was going to transform. But what resulted in the end was still the body of a toad, with eyes that resembled a golden lamp and the intense flourishing of the golden spots on his body.

“Croak. Dang it! How come I didn’t turn into a dragon, or a phoenix? Why do I still look like this?!” Ouyang Feng was about to blow his fuse.

The reason being, he was a divine beast born from an egg. When he was born, he resembled a dragon before turning into a bird, and finally into a toad. He thought he would take different forms as he evolved and would bear the aura of an imperious general. But in the end... his evolution this time was still as tragic.

“Don’t worry. You were cursed in the divine egg before you hatched,” comforted Chu Feng. Toad was very touched at first, but he heard what Chu Feng said next, “You should strive to become a frog next time, and a crow the time after next. There will inevitably be a day where you’ll fly up to a branch and turn into a phoenix.”

Ouyang Feng’s face immediately darkened. He looked at Chu Feng sideways and violently spat at him.

Moooo!

The fur on black yak’s body shone black like a piece of metal being forged. His whole body was sturdy and powerful, like a miniature ancient demon mountain.

His large horns had completely grown back, and the more it grew, the sturdier it was. Various patterns appeared on his shiny black fur—they were the embodiment of runes and skills.

After that, monochromatic light hung in the air as Old Grandmaster grew and his martial arts evolved. One moment, he was soft and slender like a willow and the next, he was firm and ferocious like thunder.

On the other hand, Old Lama resembled a golden arhat. He was solemn, a divine halo appearing behind his head as his aura shone gloriously.

“Hee-haw, hee-haw! Alien, when I return, I’ll ruthlessly deal with you and your grandsons. I succeeded in defying the natural order of the world. I can already partake in clouds and qi and baptise my supreme donkey physique with advanced energy. My strengthening is complete!”

Ouyang Feng sneezed and sent Old Donkey flying, his breath creating a violent downpour in the process.

Old Donkey wailed, kicking his hind legs as he fled madly. Sadly, he still got drenched.

Two days later, everyone finished evolving and strengthening themselves. Even Chu Feng’s parents’ strength had shot up.

Chu Feng himself achieved a small evolution. He was close to the mid-cloudeater realm and was lacking just that one push. He’d actually swallowed a lot of qilin qi, but he was just like a black hole that couldn’t be filled.

A group of great cloudeater demons rubbed their fists and palms together, eager to fly back to the Eastern Sea.

“Let’s go! Let’s kill them all!” It was Zhou Quan, the one who had the least confidence in himself, who swept his hair back and swayed his four horns, shouting to launch a counter attack and to catch the aliens.

“We can go back now.” Chu Feng nodded. Before they left, he started putting the domain back in order and sealing this zone off because it hosted the qilin flower. Following the earth’s awakening the qilin flowers could evolve a step further and would be very useful in the future.

Other than that, there was a medicinal field in the stone forest and mutant trees growing within it. It had already born a few fruits that could let one evolve to the visualisation realm.

Clearly, it would bear fruits with more impressive medicinal abilities over time. In the future, this would become their medicinal garden.

In reality, this place possessed divine tree roots. When the earth had completely recovered and the atmosphere was restored to what it was like in the distant past, it was possible for holy medicines and divine fruits to grow here.

A large group of people boarded Chu Feng’s green bamboo boat and entered the void, heading toward the East Sea.

“Hee-haw, hee-haw! I realized just how minuscule I am whilst gazing at the ocean, but I am overwhelmed with emotion. I am hit with poetic inspiration again and want to write a poem!” The bucktoothed Old Donkey announced in high spirits.

In the end, black yak kicked him with his hoof and the toad attacked him. His eyes rolled back into his head and he almost fainted.

“Hmm? There’s an intruder on Mount Eternal. The aliens have invited a few talented individuals from the demon race. Let’s turn things around and kill them all in one go this time!”

“Someone really came on the island. Just in time. Let’s kill them!”

The great demons weren’t the least bit afraid, rather they burst out laughing, eyes emitting green light.

There had been sullen for a long time. Now that people from the outer realm were attacking the island, they wanted to annihilate them. All of a sudden, they were full of vigor and wanted to hunt. The massacre had begun!
