Chapter 182: The Monster Army

Whoosh!

A swarm of countless Amonros, a “shadow cloud”, flocked over to the Void Fortress. There were probably seven million... eight million... no... perhaps more than ten million Amonros gathered in that massive “shadow cloud”.

Golden Amonros were basically everywhere—in the sky and on the land. They were all blanketed by these howling little golden creatures.

On the Void Fortress.

Just mere moments ago, the sorcerers were just getting ready for battle. Yet now, there was a massive apocalyptic-like battle snarling at their faces. Seeing this, Grimm, Millie, and the other Demon Hunter greenhorns were so stressed out and under pressure, feeling as if all the air was sucked out of their lungs.

On the other hand, the veteran Demon Hunters, who had gone through Foreign Land conquests multiple times, appeared to have anticipated this and were not surprised at all. Without showing any signs of emotion, they calmly scanned their surroundings to acquire combat-relevant data from the world.

Hearkening Whisperer hovered in the air above the Void Fortress’ Defensive Barrier. Then, she raised her staff and loudly barked out an order.

“Demon Hunters! Gather all your Soul Slaves and hold off these savages. The Void Fortress must not be harmed!”

Roarr!

Roar...

Right after Hearkening Whisperer’s order, the Defensive Barrier that was enveloping the Void Fortress was stripped down in the glimpse of an eye. Then, the countless Soul Slaves, that were squeezed together inside the Void Fortress like the inside of a tuna can, let out a thunderous roar and stormed out—facing the oncoming Amonro army.

It was at this moment, the strongest and sharpest swords of the great Amonro army were thoroughly stunned as they saw the sorcerers’ army... army of monsters.

Unlike the uniformed Amonros, whose sizes were mostly half a meter in size, the Sorcerers’ Soul Slave army was formed by thousands of different species—they came in various sizes, shapes, and colors. These monsters were handpicked by their sorcerer masters according to their preference. Other than that, they were tough—they had gone through various kinds of trials and challenges in battles in order to pass their masters’ arduous tests. Some of the Soul Slaves were so huge that they were at least hundreds of meters in size; while at the same time, some of them were so small that their sizes were just a few dozens of centimetres tall.

Still, they all had one thing in common—they were all ferocious looking monstrosities.

In the eyes of the Amonros, these Soul Slaves were like an army of devastation, which came from the depths of the evillest pit in the abyss.

Seeing these things storming at them like this, it felt almost like the worst possible apocalypse had befallen their world. These monsters looked far more sinister and evil than the hateful Lava Giants!

Boom...

The Amonros’ Shadow Legion and the Soul Slaves finally clashed!

Boom... boom...

Then, almost immediately as the two armies clashed in the air, droves of corpses rained from the sky. Amongst the deceased were countless of Golden Amonros and various kinds of weird looking Soul Slaves.

The sky was dyed red from the ferocious battle.

Wails and screams of pain could be heard from the Amonros’ Shadow Legion. A massive thirty-meter six-winged bear swept swiftly in the air towards the great Amonro army. As its powerful limbs struck its targets, the Amonros, who were no match in size, were all crushed by the massive beast’s attack.

As the Shadow Legionaries hastily flew aside to dodge the attacks, a dozen of Golden Amonros were struck and fell straight to the ground below where they lay lifeless.

The six-winged bear then dashed forward and swept its powerful paws again, like a massive ball of meat that was running amok, several more Golden Amoros that were circling the bear, searching for an opening to attack, were smashed into blobs of bloody flesh.

Howl...

As a long howl was heard, a twenty-meter-tall twin-headed bird zoomed down from above and flew passed the six-winged bear, towards the ground. The giant bird had, still, several scorpion-like creatures fighting with a crowd of Amonros.

Buzz buzz buzz....

Hundreds of black-and-white mosquitos, all of them about a meter in size, flew to the six-winged bear and circled around it, providing it with cover. Hence, several more Amonros that were trying their luck were slaughtered in the next second.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh...

As though being attracted by the six-winged bear’s massive power, several stronger Golden Amonro elite warriors dashed towards the beast, with several dozens more cavaliers, riding their weird feathered mounts. Of course, behind the cavaliers, there were thousands and thousands more ordinary Amonro soldiers tagging along.

Roar!

After a loud angry roar, the six-winged bear widened its red scarlet eyes as several hundreds of Giant Gobbling Crows gathered around it. Then, they swarmed unisonly at the elite Amonros.

Several thousands of meters away, there was another battle going on.

As blood sprayed across the sky, a giant Mud Mephit was slowly inching towards the Amonro army that was fighting fiercely with the sorcerers.

The Mud Mephit looked like a massive jelly, about seventy to eighty meters in length and size. Although it had a tremendously slow flight speed, every single Amonro that had gotten close to it suffered the same fate—they all let out an excruciating screech and then disappeared into thin air.

Of course, “disappearing into thin air” was the work of the Mud Mephit. When the Amonros got close, it then pulled them into its stomach using its agile and fast mud tentacles.

Grimm’s creations—the Ghouls too had joined in the battle.

The Ghouls had over 150 points of offensive capabilities and a sturdy defense. Other than possessing a vast pool of health points, they were also venomous. These made them much stronger than the now united Amonro Shadow Legion.

As five Ghouls slaughtered several Amonros in front of them, they widened their mouths and started to gnaw on the Amonros’ flesh as they quickly glided in the air, towards a few ten-meter Ape Lords that were being surrounded by the Shadow Legionaries.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh...

Several cavaliers from the Shadow Legion, ones that were stronger than the average Amonro soldiers, flocked over to face the Ghouls.

A few moments later.

As its fatal sharp tail impaled the heart of the last surviving Ghoul, the brave cavalier let out a fierce roar as he tore the Ghoul into pieces.

“Damn! These evil sorcerers are too strong. Even if the Shadow Legion could hold off these monstrosities for now, it’s only a matter of time before they could break through. Perhaps... we’ll need the great Enigmatic Amonros... or our great Enigmatic Kings... or... the great Enigmatic Prophets to hel... argh!”

The strong and powerful Amonro, who had slain the Ghoul earlier, suddenly turned pale. He quickly looked at the wounds that the Ghouls inflicted on him earlier on.

In the Shadow World, venomous creatures were rare. Thus, the Amonros’ bodies had very little resistance against poison.

“Arkojisromoth, do you feel anythi...”

Before he was able to finish his question, this great Amonro warrior swayed to the side, falling off from his mount and towards the flat ground below.

In just the glimpse of an eye, half of the elite warriors that had fought and slain the other four Ghouls had succumbed to the Ghouls’ venom and died. The two surviving Amonro warriors retreated, feeling a stinging hatred and looming fear; then, they quickly turned around and joined the others who were fighting the Ape Lords.

Yet, if one looked at the entire battlefield, it did not look pretty for the Amonros.

The Demon Hunters’ Soul Slaves were not only able to withstand the Amonros’ Shadow Legion’s full onslaught, they were also able to push back!

Even though the Amonros’ Shadow Legion outnumbered the Demon Hunters’ Soul Slave army, the Amonros were no match in terms of biological and physiological capabilities when compared to the latter. The Demon Hunters had an army that was much stronger than that of the poor Amonros.

Besides, the Demon Hunters’ Soul Slaves came in varied forms and species; and due to them being Soul Slaves, they were not afraid of death. These creatures had grown stronger and more ferocious than ever after having been exposed to countless battlefields. Their combat prowess was far more superior than the Amonros’ Shadow Legion in every way—giving them an overwhelming advantage as they tore through waves after waves of Amonro soldiers.

A day later.

The battle between the Shadow Legion and Monster Army had slowly subsided.

The Void Fortress had started to become much more spacious as more and more Soul Slaves left the landing porches. Watching the fierce battle on the gigantic fortress, the Dark Sorcerers were waiting for more orders from Hearkening Whisperer.

Grimm and Milly, floating mid-air above the landing porch, were both trembling with excitement.

This was their first Foreign Land conquest after all. Every Demon Hunter greenhorn would feel the same if they were to witness the same battlefield in their first Foreign Land conquest too.

In the meantime, in the lower level of the Void Fortress, there were hundreds of three-hundred-meter-long Voidships hovering in the air.

These Voidships each possessed the combat prowess that surpassed any Level 3 Sorcerer. The Voidships’ primary cannons, which were also the ships’ frames, “Occult Pulverizers” were so powerful that they could take on Level 4 Stigmata Sorcerers head on!

These were the contributions that the Bright Sorcerers provided for this Foreign Land conquest. These fruits of the Bright Sorcerers’ collaborated research were so powerful that their power was unthinkable to the Dark Sorcerers, who mainly relied on their own individual strengths instead of collaborations. These weapons were the main cavalry that the sorcerers intended to use to win this war.

Clink...

Suddenly, a loud metal grinding sound could be heard from within the Void Fortress—two gigantic metallic doors were slowly opening up. Then, a massive cannon barrel, one that was at least ten meters wide, crawled out from the door’s opening, aiming at the land mass behind the Shadow Legion.

The cannon was the Void Fortress’ primary cannon—”Prodigious Shatterer”.

At the commanding headquarters of the Amonro Shadow Legion.

Several Enigmatic Kings and Prophets were overwhelmed by anger, fear, and disbelief as they witnessed their great Shadow Legion being vastly outmatched in battle.

Despite not being able to gather all the elite forces from all over the Amonro World due to time restraint, the Shadow Legion gathered here at the Great Ancient Mountains were one fifth of their world’s best warriors.

They must not lose this battle!

The Amonros could not afford to lose at all.

If they lost, it would take at least several years... heck, perhaps even decades to gather an army close to this caliber to launch a counter strike.

Also they could not imagine just what kind of disaster it would be if they allowed these monstrous sorcerers to ravage their beautiful Amonro World for several decades.

Besides, if they lose their first battle here, it would also be quite difficult for them to imagine what they needed to do in order to win in their second battle with the sorcerers.

Nonetheless, even if they did win in the second clash, the Amonro World would definitely be severely scarred by then. By then, the great Amonros would have suffered a crippling disaster.

As for a third counter attack?

That was even more impossible. If they failed their second battle, the Amonros would have lost all their military strength. The great Amonros would have lost the power to take on the sorcerers and their monster army forever. There would be no final showdown ever.

Up until now, the Amonros naively assumed that the Soul Slaves that were fighting with their Shadow Legion were the “sorcerers”.

Oh, the irony.

If their enemies were just the Soul Slave army, the Amonros would stand a chance in winning the war. Although the Soul Slaves were terrifying, these were not enough to cause the Amonros to despair.

Witnessing the battle, several Enigmatic Amonros who were present at the time looked at one another.

“These sorcerers are unexpectedly powerful. Even the Shadow Legion could not hold them off. It’s no surprise that the Foreign Land beings were so afraid of these monsters. Hmm, it would seem that it is time for the Enigmatic Commanders’ turn to face these sorcerers.” An Enigmatic king spoke with a low-pitched voice.

Then, an Enigmatic Prophet replied anxiously, “It’s probably time for our Great and Lesser Enigmatic Gems to shine. Our Enigmatic Gems could definitely burn these evil, cunning, savage sorcerers into lime dust, and change the tide of the battle. We have a total of seventeen Great Enigmatic Gems in the mountains around here. Even the great ancestors of the Amonros too were...”

Great Enigmatic Gems were a kind of weapon hidden within the seventeen peaks around the Great Ancient Mountains. It appeared that these were some kind of ultimate weapons in the Amonro World.

The Enigmatic King remained silent after hearing this.

His plump body was almost twice the size of the two Amonro warriors standing beside him. His massive size was an indication that he was the greatest guardian who ever lived in the Shadow World; in other words, he possessed almost the same supreme power that the great ancestors of Amonros had—he was so powerful that he could face a Level 4 Stigmata Sorcerer head on!
