Chapter 986: Su Tang’s End
He stared at Su Tang for so long that she felt the chills.
Finally, he gave a strange laugh, “You’re pretty lucky, little girl. You’ve come at a time where I don’t feel like killing. I don’t have a lack of test subjects now, what I need more urgently is an assistant. You just need to help me dissect human heads and settle the corpses. But let me set things straight now, if I find that you’re plotting any ideas, you’ll die a terrible death.”
Su Tang exclaimed with joy, “Thank you!”
The few of them who escorted her smiled along as well and felt that she was one lucky girl who managed to favor The Witch. One of them tried his luck. “So, our rewards...?”
The Witch frowned. He never rewarded these people for delivering his goods. He looked towards Su Tang. “Little girl, what did you promise them?”
Su Yang scanned the few of them and said, “I had a deal with that guy over there...” she pointed at the man whom she had exchanged conditions with. “If I could get here safely, I’d ask for some rewards for him on his behalf. But I never promised that he’d get it for sure—whether or not he gets his reward is completely up to you,” Su Tang said politely to The Witch.
“You!” The man was getting anxious, this wasn’t how they negotiated it!
What did she mean by “whether or not he gets his reward is completely up to you”? Everyone could tell that Su Tang evidently wasn’t sincere in helping him get a reward! The Witch could tell what she was getting at too and began laughing aloud. “Interesting... interesting! This little girl is standing to gain at no cost! I like it! Well then, how do you think I should punish them?”
Su Tang’s cold, icy glance swept across them. “I don’t really like them, and I’d like to ask The Witch if you could use them as test subjects. I’ve just become your assistant, I need people to try my hand on.”
“Hahaha...” The Witch chuckled. He was beginning to like this new girl for her ruthlessness. “Sure, we’ll go along with your wishes!”
The few of them looked at each other in fear and were about to take flight.
But The Witch acted swiftly and activated a nearby button. All of a sudden, a net closed up all around them and they were lifted altogether in that trap!
“The Witch, please let us off! The Witch, please let us off!” They cried for mercy.
But The Witch just kept grinning deviously. He looked toward Su Tang and said, “Little girl, are you satisfied now? All of these materials are prepared for you. Do your job properly and don’t let me down.”
Su Tang nodded courteously. She’d been bullied by these people this whole time, it would be a disservice to herself if she didn’t give them a good lesson now!
Over the next few days, she experimented on these people under the watch and guidance of The Witch. She cut them up, skinned them, dug their brains out... they did not stop at anything. Initially, her hands would shake when she heard their moans of pain and cries for help, but she slowly got used to it. Eventually, those pitiful pleas had become nothing but white noise to her and they no longer affected her work.
The Witch was very pleased with this female assistant.
Su Tang was pleased as well. She had come to realize that everyone Prison X, however powerful they were outside, were polite towards The Witch—for the reason that The Witch was the only one in this chaotic war zone who knew how to operate on others and treat them of injuries. He even bred venomous insects and extracted their venom, which he used to threaten his enemies’ lives or make some profit...
This allowed The Witch to find his place in Prison X.
Meanwhile, as The Witch’s only assistant, Su Tang could also stand to gain. Everyone who saw her gave way to her, and some even tried to get into her good books. The treatment she was getting now was significantly better than when she’d first entered prison. Su Tang slowly became more ambitious, and felt that if this went on, she’d eventually become the most respected figure in Prison X, and then... she’d escape the prison and return to the Li family.
In order to achieve this secret dream, she worked hard day after day.
Before she went to bed, she would take a close look at the photo that Li Lei had given her. With the moonlight, she would stroke Li Lei’s face in the photo, with her finger that smelt of blood.
“Li Lei...” she mumbled the name of her lover. “Wait for my return...”
“What are you looking at?” The Witch’s voice came from behind her.
Su Tang jumped in shock. When had he arrived, why had she not realized! She didn’t make it in time to hide Li Lei’s photo, and was left with no choice but to say to The Witch, “I miss... an old friend.”
“Hah, you mean a lover.” The Witch hit the nail on the head.
Su Tang blushed slightly but did not rebut.
“Let me have a look at the photo,” The Witch said before picking it up on his own. But upon seeing it, his expression changed. “This is... the Li family’s little bastard?! Tell me! How do you know Li Lei!”
Su Tang’s heart sank. From the way he spoke, it seemed like he had a horrid impression of Li Lei.
She tried to come up with a lie to get herself out of trouble while The Witch paced in circles before her. He suddenly pointed a finger to her face. “I get it now, Li Lei sent you here to keep close to me! It’s been 10 years, that little bastard is still trying to harm me! Let’s see how I’ll wrench his claws off today!”
“The Witch, don’t!” Su Tang shrieked. She never would’ve imagined that the backing she begged for was actually Li Lei’s enemy! She tried to evade his clutches as she pleaded. “I was not sent by him to hurt you! Really!”
But The Witch could not care for her explanation. He grabbed her by the hair and dragged her onto the bloody operation table like she was a limp sheep.
A month later.
Xia Moyan received a report from Prison X, regarding the death of a female inmate. According to the report, her arms and legs had been amputated and refitted with that of a monkey and a wild dog. Half her face had been disfigured too, with parts of her body revealing the bones beneath. When she was found, her body had been bitten and torn apart by a wild beast, and her stomach had been filled with weed and stones. At the same time, the dubious liquid of a wolf’s kind was found at the bottom half of her body.
Xia Moyan frowned as he reached the end of the report.
“Xiao Mo, what’s wrong?” Madam Xia asked as she entered his room with a cup of warm tea.
Xia Moyan sounded calm as usual. “Nothing, just a little accident.” Although the sorcery worked and she ended up in such misfortune, it seemed like this curse was a little too harsh... he had only intended for her to suffer in prison, but she was tortured to death in merely a month?
He had overestimated Su Tang.
That woman actually tried to fight with his sister? She really did not know her abilities. Xia Moyan picked up the white ceramic teacup and began sipping his tea.
