Boom! Bang!
Grey and the Crocodile started exchanging moves. Grey's scales were visible, and with the increased speed of the Crocodile, he started using his space element. To his shock, the Crocodile is surprisingly a tad faster than he is, and with its strength, he needed to make sure he didn't get caught by any of its attacks unaware. The Crocodile was too strong, luckily, it wasn't a stage higher than it is. Using the space element made life difficult for the Crocodile, it could barely keep up with Grey's ability to randomly appear anywhere he wanted to and attack. The Crocodile relied heavily on its high defense to keep up with Grey. The battle went on for over five minutes with both parties using a lot of techniques. Even the Crocodile unleashed its most powerful attacks on multiple occasions. Grey wasn't different, he used his fusion orb occasionally and was able to even make the Crocodile lose some scales. Removing one of these scales was very difficult, but Grey managed to succeed. He wasn't unscathed though, the Crocodile's attacks were powerful, and he too has lost some of his scales, and he could swear that a rib or two were broken. Both Grey and the Crocodile were panting as they watched each other. The Crocodile didn't think Grey would've been able to force it to this point, so Grey's strength astounded it. Grey on the other hand was assessing his strength, from the fight with the Crocodile, he could get a general idea of his new strength. 'If I go all out, I'll kill it, a little difficult, but not undoable.' He thought to himself as he looked at the Crocodile.
Growl… The Crocodile sprang into action. Its claws enlarged and struck towards Grey. A large earth wall appeared in front of Grey as it blocked the attack of the Crocodile. They once again started to exchange moves, with each strike getting fiercer. It was as if the duo had a blood feud and only when one of them was dead will they finally agree to go their separate ways. Boom! Bam! Bang! The swamp suffered from the battle, the shockwaves destroying some parts of it. Grey was about to go all-out when the bunny leader contacted him. He paused and retreated without a word. The Crocodile didn't expect Grey to retreat, so seeing him head in the other direction, it didn't understand why, and chased after Grey. Grey, who was leaving the scene, was a bit annoyed that the Crocodile came after him even when he had stopped fighting.
"Buzz off." He threw a fusion orb at the Crocodile, forcing it to stop and defend against the attack. Grey didn't have the time to entertain the Crocodile any longer, the bunny leader just contacted him that the Dragons had started investigating towards the border of the Inner Court. As much as he isn't too worried that they would be found, it was best if he left before the Dragons left the Inner Court. …..
Grey hurried back to the cave to see Sirevius and all three Birds dead.
"We're leaving." He didn't need to explain anything else. Since Sirevius and the others were dead, there was no point in staying there any longer, it was best to leave as soon as possible. Eisendrache didn't argue with Grey as he went into the storage space. A few minutes later, Grey exited the forest. He didn't want to stay there too long and attract the Dragons to himself. ….
A few days later. The Dawson Manor. Grey looked at a familiar figure at the gates to the manor.
"Grey, it's been a while." Connor said with a bright smile, he was a little more mature looking compared to the last time Grey saw him. Although Grey has been visiting the Dawson Manor more often, he rarely sees Connor. Just like Grey, Connor also travels a lot for training, and he's getting very close to the Sovereign Plane.
"Connor, you're doing very good for yourself, I can see you're close to the Sovereign Plane." Grey complimented. Connor's eyes twitched when he heard this, Grey was already in the Sovereign Plane, yet he's saying Connor is doing well, if he didn't know Grey, he would've said Grey was mocking him.
"I don't know if I should take this as a compliment or mockery, since it's coming from you, someone who I can't even discern your cultivation level." He said with a wry smile.Grey chuckled with a slight shake of his head to indicate that it wasn't his intention to mock him. Connor knew Grey didn't want to mock him, he didn't think about it and asked, "How was your trip to the God's tomb?"
"Uneventful, I stayed away from the group all through." He replied. He already got a clear understanding of everything that happened from his Faction Leader, so he wasn't unaware of the events in the God's tomb.
Connor looked at Grey with a suspicious gaze, he felt Grey was hiding something about the trip, he didn't think too deeply into it, "You're here for Uncle and Aunty, right?"
Seeing Grey's nod of affirmation, he said, "This way, they are in a meeting with the Elders, I don't think they'll chase you away, given your current strength."
As the duo headed towards the meeting Hall, Connor couldn't help but remember the first time he saw Grey in the secret world, at that time he had a higher cultivation stage and felt that he was stronger than the intruder who evaded the secret world they were supposed to use for their training.
Some time ago, he became a Venerable while Grey was still a Sage Plane Elementalist, he didn't think there would be a time when the difference between the duo would be this massive. Since he encountered Grey, it has been one surprise after another. To be honest, one of the reasons he has grown this quickly was his interaction with Grey. He became determined when he not only saw how fast Grey was growing stronger, but how fast Grey's friends were also advancing.
As long as they could all do it, then he too could do it. He started going out more, and the truth is, he indeed has been growing quicker than expected, but in the end, compared to Grey's speed, he was severely lacking.
…..
Dawson Family Hall.
"Lucas, why didn't we see Grey during the entire time in the God's tomb?" An Elder asked. The Hall was filled with Elders of the Dawson Family, and also the top experts. Grey's grandfather was also present. The Family Head was seated on his seat at the forefront, his seat, as well as that of a few people, like Grey's father and grandfather were all seated beside him, as well as two other Elders, the rest were seated facing them.
They've been asking Lucas this question since they entered the God's tomb. After entering initially, they lost sight of Grey and his genius friends. Everyone knew about Grey and his friends, so not seeing one of them made them suspicious, but they are all aware that Lucas entered with Grey and his friends. Not just that, but they also knew that he had a hand in keeping them there with the excuse of giving the younger generation more time to grow while also saying it was the perfect battleground.
"I have no idea how he's doing. Like you all, I lost contact with him or his friends after they entered the God's tomb." Lucas was calm, he didn't feel any pressure from their words even though they were trying to pressure him into speaking, "I can only pray that they are fine." They were all speaking when Lucas looked outside the Hall, a soft smile formed on his face, he could sense Grey's aura close. He was not the only one who noticed this, Grey's grandfather also sensed his presence and said, "The kid is here, we can question him once he enters the Hall." Everyone waited patiently before a guard entered the Hall, with one knee in the ground, he bowed his head and announced the arrival of Grey and Connor.
The Family Head indicated for the guard to allow them to enter the Hall. Grey and Connor were from the same generation, so only allowing Grey in would be a huge blow to Connor, however, when Grey entered the Hall, the eyes of some of the Elders almost fell off completely when they sensed Grey's cultivation stage. At the moment, he has caught up with most of the top experts in the Family, and other than those in the Late stages and above, he was basically equals with the others, and knowing his freakish strength, those a stage or two above him didn't feel confident that they could defeat him.
"You were only a First stage Sovereign before entering the God's tomb, how did you become a Fifth stage Sovereign?" The Family Head couldn't help but ask, Grey's cultivation speed is practically unheard of.
