Clive was evidentially happy to be back on duty now that his daughter and wife would be coming home soon. He even had pictures to share with Samuel of how well his daughter had been doing. She was still on the smaller side but the doctors confirmed that she was doing quite well despite being so premature.
The ride back to the estate was spent discussing the decision on whether it would be a good idea to both Genson and Eve or if there was a better choice between the two of them. Lena had her mind made up on the matter, but she was listening to the reservations that Samuel had about the matter.
"I'm just not sure that his personality will fit well. I know from what you've said that he has some of the best credentials for the job and more than enough experience for what you're looking for, but I think that there is more to it than that." He told as Lena listened with her eyes closed. It always came back to personality with Samuel.
"What makes you think that his personality will be a problem with everyone else at work?" The princes asked not opening her eyes as she spoke.
"I feel like he lacks boundaries and would end up saying things that might offend some of the other employees. He seems to think a lot of himself and that from what I could tell when he was talking bleeds over into how he interacts with everyone thinking that they should see him the same way."
"What if there was a solution to that though?" She then asked after a slight pause while she considered the matter.
"What kind of solution? I'm not sure there's much that can be done with someone with that kind of personality. Especially since he charges so much as well." Samuel replied but waited to hear what she had to say on the matter.
"I agree that his personality is rather problematic and honestly if I didn't need someone with his skill set to actually find out who is behind this, I wouldn't have bothered hiring him as I've heard the rumors about the kind of person he is. I think though that there are a few ways to deal with his personality one of those would be in putting him in more of an assistant role rather than someone who has free reign within the office."
"That might work. He probably won't like it, but could be beneficial in a number of ways." Samuel agreed.
"As the one paying him I'm technically allowed to request whatever I want from him in the role he's serving while working for me. As long as it isn't anything illegal, there's no way that I would get in trouble for it nor would he be likely to terminate the contract since he wouldn't get a single penny if he did." The princess commented.
"If you have him, why did you go ahead with hiring Eve as well?" Samuel then asked, he had been curious as to why she wanted to hire two people if she thought that Genson had all the skills that she would need for the job.
"Because I wanted two different sets of eyes for this job. If I want to find out who is really behind this, the more people I have working on the task from both sides, the more likely that it will be that I will find the person rather than just stopping the issue from happening again in the future." Lena replied
"It's more important to find the person than just stopping the issue from happening?" He clarified to which the princess nodded her head.
"Of course it is. Because even if the person behind this stops doing it here and disappears, they're bound to just turn around and find another company to do the same thing with. Thus, it's important to find out who is behind this in order to stop that from happening." She explained.
"You worried about what I might do to this person when I find them?" She asked tilting her head slightly as she looked at her fiancé.
"Not really, more so curious. I trust you to make the right decision when dealing with people in this situation. I expect that it won't be likely for them to be able to get another job in this area anymore, but I think you wouldn't take it too far." Lena made a noise but only nodded her head in response to what he said.
She certainly wasn't as bad as he father was, but that didn't mean that she took betrayal any better than he did. Samuel was right though. The people working at the business for the most part were outside of her family and were hired to give off the impression of it being a strictly legal business. This meant though that Lena had to work within that legal field when it came to dealing with such problems with her employees.
"Were you still planning on sitting out this meeting with your uncle? You're welcome to come if you want." The princess offered.
"It's okay. I think that it would probably be better if I wasn't there. Even though the proposal was your idea and came from you, knowing the way that my Aunt think she'll probably get the idea that it somehow came from me and I don't want to cause issues with the family. They'll already be offended over the fact that they aren't invited to the engagement party." Samuel replied. According to his mother, his aunt had thrown a touch of a fit when she was told that the invitation had only been extended to the parents of the fiancé, no other family.
"And this is exactly the reason why they won't be invited. Your uncle would've been better off marrying someone else who had more family values and was less for of herself. I don't have much faith in the fact but maybe her daughter will figure it out before she ends up turning out just like her mother."
"I'm not sure about that. She's engaged to someone who's rather well off himself. Something my Aunt likes to brag about any chance she gets when my parents talk with her. Probably part of the reason that she was caught off guard by the fact that you come from a family with business sense and a decent amount of money." Samuel mused.
"At least you won't have to deal with them much anymore." Lena commented as she glanced out the car window and noticed that they were getting closer to the estate.
"I've been curious about this before, but if my parents are going to be invited to this event, does that mean they'll invited to come over at other times if I ask them to?" Samuel asked.
"That will depend on what you're comfortable with and what my father has to say about the matter." The princess replied as she shifted in the car seat so that she was in a more upright position.
"Technically since they already know the type of family that you're getting married into and know about my father, there's not really a reason preventing them from being invited if they wish to come. The only thing to take into consideration would still be the matter of safety." she explained.
"Of course when they are there for the engagement party there will be a lot of different people who will see them and know that they are your parents, but most of the people within that circle fall under my father's authority or are under the control of the Red Scorpions and wouldn't think about doing anything to your parents. I can't promise about other people that might spot them."
"Thank you. It's something that I want to talk with my parents about since my mother wasn't to discuss the theme for the engagement party now that she was able to see what the outfits look like. We also need to decide when we are going to taste test the food and sweets Ryan suggested for the event."
"I don't think that there's much of a reason to do it, but maybe it's something that we can make time to do this weekend since it's cutting it closer to the date of the event." Lena trusted Ryan when it came to food matters as he had never disappointed when it came to choices and flavors.
"I thought that you had work to do at the office this weekend?" Samuel asked surprised since Lena had told him on Monday that they probably wouldn't have much of a chance to spend the weekend together due to work.
"I do have work to do at the office this weekend, but that doesn't mean that I can't make time around that for such a thing. There's always the evening also." She replied as they pulled up to the estate.
"Clarice won't be here today since she stayed over the other day and has other things to catch up on. Try to be good while I'm gone and find something else to entertain yourself with." The princess told him as he got out of the car. He stuck his tongue out at her in a teasing way in response to her comment but didn't say anything before he closed the car door.
