"Sounds like the equivalent as using him as bait." Lena replied, not exactly thrilled with Jovani saying even though she couldn't deny that it was a useful tool to use to collect information.
"In a way if that is how you want to look at it. It's not like he would be any sort of danger. I would always be around with him and most of it would be during meetings or gatherings that occur." Jovani replied with a shrug.
"Unlike you, we do tend to host more social events and not do all of our business outside of the estate. I think we have a great place that we could to host this specific event to announce the new head of the family."
"Don't media nose around too much about that kind of stuff?" Zane asked. It had been one of the reason that he had stopped hosting such events after he had taken over and with everything that happened with his wide, media liked to try and cover tragedy too much and poke into things that weren't any of their business. Things that Zane wouldn't stand for.
"They can, but you can limit who you let nose around to those whom you know to be completely harmless and make sure that one uninvited sneaks in." He replied. It had taken a while for him to learn a lot of this himself though he had more people to help watch out for him.
"It's not something that I would think about changing any time soon." Lena remarked.
"I can understand some of the benefits of media, but I also that they can cause more trouble than necessary even if one does try to manage them the right way."
"To each their own." was all Jovani replied.
"I know that there is still a lot to cover, but there are things that we need to do as well. You're welcome to stay here while everything is being sorted. We have another appointment to make however." Zane told the other as he stood and indicated that he would need to borrow Lena and Samuel for that.
"I see that's no problem. We can discuss matters more seriously after. I do need to speak with Julian as well about the business side of matters also." Jovani replied as he stood up as well more out of politeness than actually needing to do anything.
"I will take up your gracious offer and spend the night here since it is already late in the afternoon, but tomorrow I do need to head back to sort out some other matters in order to able to shift a certain amount of things here if I will be mostly occupying this space rather than the Vedova Nera estate."
He shook Zane's hand but only offered a nod of his head to Lena whom he presumed wouldn't be thrilled about shaking hands with the other still. At least she didn't glare at him this time which he took as a sign of progress between the two of them.
ραпdα nᴏνɐ| сom "Julius will probably be back before we are, so feel free to update him about matters and explain what is going to happen following this." Zane told the other man as he walked past him to the door. He made a mental note that once they left he would text Julius to let him know and that no decisions were to be made until after he had gotten back and they had discussed matters between them.
It would be a good investment opportunity between the two families, but it could also be a difficult thing to sort between two sides who were trying to get the best benefit out of the alliance. Not that he thought Jovani was the type of person who would trying anything like that, he just didn't know if he could trust anyone else in the family.
"Did we really have to depart already?" Samuel asked once they were outside and heading to the car where Clive was already outside waiting for them.
"Yes." Was all Zane and Lena both said before they got inside. Samuel this time was placed to sit on the outside while Lena was in the middle seat between her father and fiancé.
"Today is the only on the schedule coming up that would work for all of us to go and pick up the rings." He explained once they started to drive away.
"I know it's a sudden unexpected event, but it is something that can't be put off in the case that any further adjustments need to be made." Glancing down he realized that Samuel still had the ring on that Jovani had given him as the family symbol.
"You should take that ring while you're out around other people. It's too noticeable." He told the younger man as he pulled open the cubby that was seated in the middle between the two front seats. He pulled out a ring box and opened it up so that Samuel could put the ring inside. It was something that Zane used to do back when it wasn't announced whether it would be him or his brother Julius taking over after their father.
"Also, the hospital said that we would be safe to stop by and visit Jeff as well. His health is stable enough at this point that visitors other than his brother shouldn't have a negative impact on him or cause too much excitement." Lena added. She presumed that Samuel would want to see the other man after everything that had happened since he hadn't yet got the opportunity.
"Is he going to be released soon?" Samuel still felt guilty over what had happened, but he wasn't quite sure exactly how he was going to be able to make it up to the other.
"Another two weeks is what the doctor says. Then he will still need to be careful after that." Zane responded.
"His injury is healing well, but the doctor wants to make sure because of where he was shot that there no complication will become present as he begins to get more active." Two weeks meant that the other wouldn't be able to be there for the engagement party. He would have to be more careful in the future so that nothing like this happened again.
