"Everything is ready," Hary came back with a few bottles of unknown liquid in a glass bottle which was closed by a stuffed close with a cloth. "Tian here has more advance bombs. With this we might survive,"
Tian placed a few cylinders like structure on the table. "Okay Plan A, We can climb out and slide down the pipes. Easily we can reach the ground,"
"Are you guys forgetting that Qian exists," Yue whispered, pointing to him. Qian Wen was busy taking tissue samples of the burned zombie hands. "He can't do, plus I'm slightly scared of heights. I get light-headed and.... queasy,"
"Then Plan B, we will take the elevator shaft as we usually do. Reach the ground floor and fight our way to the car. Then fight our way to the settlement,"
"There are too many zombies. Even your bombs won't be enough," Fan Xui added all of a sudden. "We can't drive with these many swarming like that. Look beyond the hospital grounds, even the roads are full of them. The darn siren has attracted all the zombies to our back door,"
Tian growled. "Why won't the darn siren shut off? Agh I hate it,"
"Actually, it did shut off, but your flame attack restarted it again. I wonder why the sprinklers didn't go off though." Yue mumbled with an innocent look.
Tian looked at him and sighed louder. "Okay fine scratch Plan B, how can we get out of here. We can't just fly out of here!"
"Actually, we can." a small voice whispered.
Everyone glanced back at Qian, who was working meticulously. "We can contact my father to send out a chopper,"
"Qian communication lines are down. We can't contact anyone," Yue answered.
Qian just looked up with his brows raised. "We can send an electromagnetic message via Morse code. They still have that old School machine in the military base. He will get the message."
Everyone fell silent, peering at him.
Qian just casually packed all the test tubes in a protected box with the hazardous sign on it. "Shall we get going?"
"Which floor?"
"Two floors down. Near that Pricitsky's office. I never liked him," he whispered, walking to the door.
Everyone stood dazedly.
"Are you guys coming or not?,"
"Give us ten minutes," everyone ran around packing everything that he needs.
Fan Xui, on the other hand, took Yue's bag and refused to take anything more. "How are we going down? Elevator shaft?"
"No, we'll climb down using the pipes. We might have to use the elevator shaft when we are going up to the roof later," Qian casually added.
Everyone looked at him.
"Contrary to your expectation, I can climb down very well. Also I can handle height well. Yue if you want I can carry you,"
"n-no.. Thanks," Yue smiled awkwardly.
They got ready in record time with all the bags in ready. "Shall we get going?"
"yes,"
Since the research rooms did not have any windows, he smashed the walls, creating a small hole. He poked his head out and looked at both sides. "I spot a pipe to our left,"
"How far is it?" Tian poked her head out as well. "Oh, that is easy to approach. Nice going Yue. We just have to make sure that we don't get this weird substance on the pipes. It will be hard to grip on tight," he whispered, pulling at her hazmat suit. The yellow substance not only stank, it also was very sticky.
She swiftly wiped her hands off on the nearby rag she found. "Ready?"
"Wait," Yue pulled her back.
"What?"
"We don't all need to climb down. Only two can go down and send the message." Yue looked at everyone. "Who knows Morse code?"
"I do," Hary and Tian said at the same time.
"I'll go," Tian and Hary said at the same time. They just looked at each other with a small scowl.
"Tian, you can't... you know why." He mouthed something to Tian. She backed down with a grumpy look. "I'll be going,"
Fan Xui stepped up. "I'll go with you,"
Hary frowned deeply.
Feeling tension in the air, Yue intervened. "Um, hate to break it to you guys, but I have to come along. Who is going to break walls if not me?"
Fan Xui looked at him with a sad look. "But can't I come with you?"
Yue just cast a sad look at him. He took the ropes out of Tian's bag and tied one end of the rope to his waist tightly. "We need someone to hold our ropes up here. Tian won't be able to handle both our weights,"
Reluctantly, Fan Xui agreed to this plan.
With a triumph look, Hary tied the other end of the rope to his waist. "Don't worry Yue. If you get dizzy, I will hold on to you," he smugly cast a look at Fan.
Fan Xui just scowled without a comeback.
Hary grabbed onto the end of the hole and leaned forward with one leg off the ground. He simply leapt and caught onto the pipe to their left.
"Jump Yue, I will catch you," he held out a hand.
Zou Yue glanced down at the ground. The zombies were small as ants squirming around.
His throat started to close up. He held onto his chest, panting softly. 'It's just a few floors... we are not going to fall...' he mentally chanted.
A hand gently touched his shoulders.
He glanced back anxiously. "I've got you." Fan Xui whispered, tying the rope properly around his waist. "I will not let you fall,"
Somehow, his words brought comfort to his panicked heart.
"o-okay..." he leaned over and took hold of his hand.
Hary pulled him close and hugged him close to his body.
"eeeppp! Oh my god.....," Yue held his chest panting. The chilly wind cooled his already pale face.
Jumping down elevator shafts was much easier. It was dark and the depth can't be seen, but here he could see the entire city. Plus the chilly wind... it did not help his anxious heart.
"I- I can climb down on my own,"
"It's okay. It's safer this way." the hands on his waist were steady and unmoving.
"Thanks..."
Slowly, Hary climbed down. Yue grabbed onto him tightly. Occasionally, he noticed Hary glancing up with a wide smirk.
'What's he looking at?'
Both Tian and Fan had a constipate expression on their faces, looking down at them.
"This is so much fun than I had expected." Hary mumbled ever so softly.
Yue gave a weak smile and waved to Fan.
Fan Xui smiled softly.
Hary's hands on his waist tightened slightly.
"I'm glad you are having fun. I'm having vertigo here," Yue mumbled, glancing at the ground. "Do you think we can survive if we fall from here?"
"We won't fall. And even if we do, those zombies will cushion our fall. Don't worry, we won't get bitten as well. I found out my metal is a kind of bite proof."
"That's awesome..."
Hary kept up the conversation in hopes of distracting him.
And it actually worked.
Yue completely forgot that they were twenty floors up the ground, climbing down a pipe with just a rope tied to their waists.
"We are here," Hary stopped at a certain height.
Yue glanced around. There were no windows. "How do you know?,"
"Just know. Do your magic," he smirked.
Yue slightly let go of his shoulders and punched the wall. His fist went through, creating a small hole. He peaked in. A zombie growled loudly, putting its face close.
"ah!" Yue flinched back.
Hary tightly gripped his waist and pulled him into his embrace. With just one hand on the pipe, he took the gun and shot the zombie. "Hey it's okay,"
"Yue, is something wrong!" Fan Xui shouted from above.
"Everything is okay." Yue shouted back with an awkward smile. "can't believe that zombie sacred me. jeez..." he whispered to Hary.
Yue glanced in once again. There were no other zombies in there. He continued punching until a hole was big enough to crawl in.
He gestured for Hary to hold tight and jumped into the hole. His sword was always in his hands, ready to attack anything that came his way.
The room was a complete mess. It looked like a communication room. The wall was mounted with at least twenty screens displaying the city's map. They were cracked, but a few were working. Few strange lines were displayed with a danger sign blinking on the screen.
Glass crunched under his shoes.
Yue carefully walked close. Seeing the lines on the screen, he got a weird feeling that he knew what it was. It was the projection route of the meteor fall.
Hary jumped in after him and untied the rope around his waist. "Why is this place a mess?"
"oh shit....." Yue whispered, walking super close. There were two lines, one with a dotted red line the other one with a straight blue line. "Meteor one....changed course...." he read the contents of the screen. "Second meteor.... crashing in.... oh fuck.."
He traced the new line that was projected. The red lines showed the new meteor very close to G city.
"We are going to get hit in a few hours!"
