During lunch Yue was still distracted thinking about the upcoming doom. In this life he was so happy and content that he forgot about all the tragedy he went through in his past. It all became a vague memory.
Now that Fan reminded him, it all came back.
-n0ve1、com The horror of the zombie tide. Every one of them was at least a level four zombie.
At level three the zombies start to get a hang of their powers and would use them to track human.
At level four a core forms in their head. it was rumored that the human body can also form one and a kind of mythical energy there.
Yue did not hear any official information regarding it, but all he knew was that eating these cores can make one powerful.
That was what the zombie tide was. The zombies wanted food and they somehow found out that these crystals tasted good. They started to form groups and hunted the humans down.
In a huge base people held them off for a bit but eventually, a huge base like s city base also collapsed.
Yue felt the settlement back then and traveled to g city. it was a very risky journey. After that he settled in the base and never once went out.
He was too weak and he knew that if he walked out of those walls he would be taken out instantly.
"Dad..." Zi Chen handed him a small candy. "Candy makes me happy."
Yue chuckled dryly. "Yes candy makes everyone happy. Thank you so much for making me happy dear," he kissed his forehead.
Fan who was sitting opposite to him, held his gloved hand. "It's all going to be well. Put it out if your mind,"
"Not thinking about it is not the solution; we need to mitigate the risk. The food stocks are less right, how much can we salvage?"
"Two tons of rice and mutated cornmeal. It would be enough to feed us for a month."
Yue thought about it. It was not a topic to discuss in the middle of a crowded canteen.
Fan and Yue went to have a talk in Fan's room while they dropped Zi Chen off at uncle wen's study.
"We need to harvest the crops faster. I'll talk to dad and see if he and the other plant-based power holders can somehow hasten the ripening. After that, it needs to be stored."
"We only have two known space ability users. Yours is a risk. The stocks might be lost if you accidentally copy others,"
Yue nodded, biting his lips. Juda and the other guy, Jamie, were the one who was rescued during Juda's kidnapping.
Jamie was badly malnourished and barely able to walk for a long time, but after six months that guy changed so drastically. He became a healthy young man brimming with energy. He was the one who helped the base move most of the stocks and he was surprisingly very loyal to Fan.
Even so the space ability users' powers were limited. Juda can only have a limited amount of things in her space and just like that Jamie Also had that restriction. His space was much smaller than Juda's.
Yue fretted once again. They might not be able to secure the stocks easily.
"We can arrange trucks. We have collected a few and they have been in good running condition. We can store the goods in that and move out when they come to attack us," Fan assured him.
"Do you remember which side the zombie tide first infiltrated?"
Fan sighed. "We were plagued by internal cases all around the border. Till now I have no clue how and when they got in. after one got in many others followed. The wall was destroyed by a few strength ability zombies... we had to burn a lot of the border areas to salvage and save the others,"
Yue took a deep breath. it sounded much worse than he had anticipated.
From the start he had an advantage with the knowledge of the world ending, he prepared well and that kept him calm but now that things were going out of control he felt like his whole life was being thrown into a tsunami. He had zero control over what was happening.
He had no way to predict it and he had no way to prevent it either.
Taking a deep breath, Yue laid his head on the table. "Worse comes worse, we'll leave with as much as stock as we can. Juda and Jamie can carry them. I can ask my mum to make duplicates of the stuff. We can last for a little longer until we clear out the zombies,"
"Good," Fan gently held his hand. "All is well,"
"I hope so," after having lunch with Fan he and Zi Chen left for home. One the way he dropped by uncle Wen's farm to meet his father. Mum had given his share of lunch to him.
Just after entering the gate he saw his father taking care of the huge mutated corn varieties. He was talking to the workers there passionately.
"Grandpa~~" Zi Chen cried and ran to him.
"My baby boy, come here." his dad tried to lift him but he struggled a bit. "Wow look at this little man, he has gained a bit of weight. Must be all those muscles coming in,
"Yes I'm super muscular. So that I can protect my dads," he cutely flexed his thin arm.
His dad massaged his back with a joyful smile.
"Is your back getting worse? Come here ill massage it," Yue got behind his dad and gently started to massage him. "You have been working too much. You should rest dad,"
"What rest? I love this work. I finally get to be close to the soil I love. You know this new fertilizer is amazing,. I have no clue what it is made of but it enriched the soil so much. Even the crops are growing so rapidly,"
Yue had a vague clue that Prisitsky must have created a fertilizer using the black meteorite rock he gave him.
"Is that so? That's amazing. How are the crops looking? Ready for harvest?"
"Soon, in a month maybe. The corn has yet to ripen and the rice is still soft," he picked off a rice stalk and handed it to him. The rice was still milky. "It will take a while but we can manage it,"
Yue nodded. He gave him his lunch and before Zi Chen got too tired he left for home.
He needed to prepare their things just in case.
