After getting everyone in line, they slowly entered the prison gates. Some soldiers had gotten down and were standing guard close to the gates shooting down the rogue zombies that were rushing towards them, seeing this military power The prison inhabitants had a vague sense of fear on their faces.
Yue noticed each and every reaction that the people in the prison had on their faces. Silently he tugged ta Fan's hand. "Are you sure this is the right idea? We can go to the tanning factory as tian mentioned. We don't have to risk it so much, Fan. I don't trust Murong Shao much…."
His cousin Murong Shao was indeed a hero I his past life but to his family and to tian he had been an antagonist. he did not know how unpredictable this guy was. he didn't wish to risk all of their lives.
but looking back at his mum's excited reaction he held back all of his doubts.
"I've seen that tanning factory before. it's not in a state to hold so many people. plus, I don't think the gates or the walls can hold back the ability zombies. For now, let's start here. we will think of a plan to reclaim our base back and we will leave peacefully."
Yue let out a small sigh and agreed with Fan's plan as of now they didn't have any other alternative but to risk it here.
As soon as they enter Through the second gate, Murong Shao was waiting for them with a huge smile on his face. he even guided the cars in and helped them park in a secure location.
"Yue.." he knocked on the glass with an awkward smile. "Is it okay if you guys can quarantine for a while. it's just for two days. Then we will all be together. What do you say?"
Yue agreed to it readily even though he knew that none of the survivors were infected.
First of all, they had stayed the night out in the clearing. if there was an infected person, they would have definitely shown symptoms and would have changed. No one did.
they were only quarantining to show Murong that they were not infected.
and there was also a small risk that some might have gotten infected with a different mutated virus. and the mutated variety of viruses could be slow acting. Yue just wanted to be sure that he wouldn't cause harm to themselves and others.
That's why he readily agreed to his plan.
"Can you get us a big enough room for that?"
He jumped out of the car. Zi Chen curiously got out after him looking at the strange smiling man.
"I'll arrange a part of the prison for you all. ohhh who might this be?" Murong show leaned down and gently touched eth top of his head. "He looks adorable."
"He is my son,"
Muron Shao raised his brow. "You have a child. That's a surprise. But that's good too. You have had a stable life then," he searched through his pockets and found a half-melted piece of candy. "This is all uncle can give you right now. After we enter our new home ill get your new presents and toys, yes?"
"I don't need toys." Zi Chen clung to Yue's legs. "can you get me milk?"
"of course, we have a few cows with us. It's a mutated variety. But sadly yesterday a few of them shifted. so we had to chase them all out," he gently patted Zi Chen's head.
Yue nodded. 'so that explains how the newly mutated zombie cows came from… hmm but how did they zombify though, it's very hard for an animal to zombify. For so many cows to zombify at the same time like that it could only mean there was contamination.'
"Murong, we need to talk about a few things, in private," he added with a small smile.
Murong Shao cast him a dazzling smile. "yes, we do cousin. Yes, we do."
Right then a small wail of a baby was head.
Everyone in the prison froze.
Murong Shao as well curiously looked into the car. "Do you have a baby with you? They are all high-risk, but thankful you protected the child. The birth rate has been going down drastically. We need all the men we can get,"
The back door threw open and his mum stepped out with Zara in her arms.
Seeing her Murong Shao looked stunned for a second. he moved his lips, but no words escaped his thin mouth.
"it's been a while little Shao. You have grown up into a fine young man."
"a-aunt…. You are alive…." He stepped close and hugged her all of a sudden. He made sure not to squeeze her tight in case he might hurt the little child in her arms. "Just so great seeing you in real life. I'm so used to looking at your photos."
"you've seen me in real life before, child. But I guess you forget as you grew up." She patted his back soothingly. "I.. I hear that my mother is here,"
"yes yes! She is here. I'll take her to you." He excitedly started to lead them in.
But Yue stopped him. "We still have to quarantine. Lets not meet anyone in those two day's time frame."
This gap would give his mother and his sister some time to get used to the idea of meeting his extended family.
Murong Shao was more than happy with that idea.
With his help, they moved into the b block of the prison. To be honest it was a small space for thousands of survivors but they all squeezed in.
Juda and Jamie were in charge of the distribution of rations. His uncle Wen was with them, making sure no one caused a ruckus. As for Qian and Prisitsky, they were nowhere to be seen.
Yue went searching for those two.
He spotted Prisitsky sitting in front of Qian chatting vigorously about something.
They both seemed to be In a disagreement.
"You had it all along! you knew I needed that first-ever sample to find an antidote for you,"
"it's dangerous. That's why I have kept it locked up for so long. Why do you think I became like this? It's a mutation caused by over exposure to this thing!" Prisitsky cried out loud.
"I don't believe that at all!"
"Qian…."
"Prisitsky you should know when to give up. Just… just let me help you."
"I'm only trying to protect you from this!"
Yue stepped up to them. "From what? What is the initial sample of the virus you speak of?"
Prisitsky peered at him and adjusted his dusty glasses. "it's nothing,"
"Are you really planning on lying to me? spill. What is that thing? Is that the reason why you are like this,"
Prisitsky sighed, looking at the huge white box at his feet.
Yue noticed this as well. From the first day of the apocalypse, Prisitsky had carried that with him without fail. He had never had a look inside. "Show it to me,"
Prisitsky looked at them both with a great sigh. "You both are intolerable. How do your lovers deal with you both?"
"They love us," Qian added with a smug smirk. "Now show it,"
Prisitsky pulled the white box onto his lap and opened it. Inside encased in bulletproof glass was a wooden bark. It had a pearlescent sheen to it.
Upon close look, Yue noticed that something was actually moving on it.
"What is this?"
"This is petrified wood. the first ever sample we found. It was found frozen and we couldn't retrieve anything from it. But as soon as the apocalypse started, this started to react so vividly. I was researching on it when you guys saved me from the S city hospital. I believe it's the reason why I'm in this situation,"
