Chapter 2180 Project
Emery found the mist covering the beast's island to be thick and even more oppressive than before. Despite this, he made his way through the dense fog to the massive star-devouring beast lying on the ground. Its two terrifying yellow eyes gazed at him, and it emitted a low growl, vibrating through the air.
Unlike the other beasts in his domain, the star-devouring beast had no real form. It was a manifestation of his own soul, much like the landscapes within his domain. This connection allowed Emery to sense the beast's condition as if it were an extension of himself. He could feel its power growing steadily since the last battle, a raw, primal energy that seemed to pulse in time with his own heartbeat.
The sight of the beast stirred a savage urge within him, a primal instinct that was hard to ignore. It took a moment for Emery to realize that this was the result of the beast devouring some of the nightmare hydra's energy. The dark, chaotic power of the godly beast intermingled with the beast's own essence, enhancing its strength and ferocity.
Emery was forced to sit in a lotus formation. Drawing on his enhanced mental strength and his [Prism of Light] ability, he managed to calm the growing urge and resist the beast's influence. His breathing became steady and controlled as he focused inward, channeling the light energy to counteract the darkness.
However, he soon realized the result of his excessive use of primal transformation had further corrupted the area with dark energy, tipping the balance of his domain. The readout confirmed his fears
[Energy balance: Darkness 64 (66)%, Light 36 (34)%]
Emery sensed a growing concern that a further imbalance might lead to breaking the whole scale, potentially devastating his domain. He urgently needed to find a way to strengthen his nature core and restore balance.
He thought of the academy [Myriad Spring of Life]. With the new semester starting, Emery could receive more hours of these resources to help him. This should be his next step, yet Emery knew he could not solely depend on it. He needed a more sustainable solution. Emery took another stroll through his domain, this time heading to the underground chambers beneath the mountain. The muddy labyrinthine cavern had expanded almost twice its size since the recovery of his primal core, and since then, he has started this new project.
He descended through the stone stairway that wound deep into the earth, the intricate network of roots that crisscrossed the cavern walls and ceiling. These sinewy tendrils pulsed with a faint, ethereal glow, their presence was a testament to the potent energy that flowed through his domain.
In the center of the chamber, a muscular figure sat on a specially made stone chair, its design integrated with the sinewy roots that covered the cave. As Emery approached, the dark-skinned figure rose to greet him with respect.
"CHWIIKK... Durak greets master,"
Durak was the unique dark-skinned Orc who had followed Emery from one of his waypoint travels. Emery had previously left the Orc to train among the Magus warriors in Terra City, but after defeating Mo Yan, he has allocated the Orc to his domain to help with the special project.
"I am here to see the progress," Emery said, placing his hand on a particular wall connected to the chair. He used his [Nature Grasp] ability to sense the multiple cocoons inside the wall.
"Ten did not survive… Twenty of them do... good," he muttered, feeling the energy signatures of the living beings within the cocoons.
The beings inside were orc embryos. Ever since Emery discovered the [Orc Breeding Manual] on the Nexus planet and conducted experiments with the [Mysterious Green Essence] from the Demons Pit Planet, he had the means to reproduce orcs. What he needed was a suitable habitat—a rich, muddy earth to breed them—and this underground chamber was perfect for it.
The walls of the cavern were lined with these cocoons, each one pulsating with a faint, greenish light. The roots connected to the stone chair intertwined with the cocoons, providing them with the necessary nutrients and energy to grow.
Emery had been hesitant to start the project because of the emotional weight he felt when he created the Chizpurs. However, he decided to proceed as soon as he learned that the orc cocoons would help absorb the nutrients from the domain. With enough orc cocoons, he believed he could effectively slow down the darkness corrupting his domain.
As for Durak's, his unique orc blood served as the catalyst for the orc breeding. Being the strongest orc bloodline that Emery had ever seen, Durak was key to the project's success.
"Durak, soon enough you will have many brothers joining you," Emery said, with a hint of a smile.
Emery then spent several hours fine-tuning the formula, focusing on the strongest surviving embryos. With his upgraded [Metamorph Potions], he began to create more samples, each one a potential new life that could help stabilize his domain.
The chamber buzzed with activity as Emery worked. The air was thick with the scent of magical herbs and potions. With his [Photosynthesis] skill, soon enough, dozens of mushroom-like plants, the origin of orc life, grew on the walls, pulsating with a soft, green glow before Emery used his earth spell to plant them inside the muddy walls.
"Alright, I will come and check again in a few weeks. Guard the place well," Emery instructed.
"Yes, Master… CHIWIKK,"
After attending to all pressing matters, Emery finally found time to retreat to his workshop—a serene sanctuary within his domain where he could immerse himself in an important task.
Emery carefully examined the various artifacts he had obtained from Mo Yan. Many weapons and armor had already been distributed to strengthen the forces of Golden City. Among the remaining items, he selected a shimmering, small purple crystal artifact. Its surface gleamed with latent power, resonating with intricate runes that hinted at its potential.
With meticulous attention, Emery delved into the study of these runes, spending hours refining them with precise magical adjustments. Gradually, the crystal began to undergo a transformation into a beautiful necklace. Emery held it up to the light, admiring the craftsmanship and the newfound enchantment it possessed.
Satisfied with his creation, Emery left the workshop and made his way to the training grounds, where the acolytes had been diligently absorbing the Khaos energy for nearly two days straight.
"Alright, it's enough training for today,"
