Emery followed Tessa back into the vault with Magus Rosia and Morgana, their footsteps echoing in the vast, ornate hallway. There were unspoken words between them, a shared understanding of the events that had transpired just two days ago, lingering in their minds.
Upon entering the main vault, Emery saw that the palace had been meticulously cleaned, and all the items had been carefully returned to their displays. An old-looking elder stood at the entrance, his demeanor respectful and welcoming.
"Princess, Lord Hassa has instructed me to assist our new friend," the elder said with a courteous bow.
The vault was vast, with over a hundred items on display. Each item seemed to radiate its own unique aura of power and mystery. The soft glow from the enchanted lights above created a warm, inviting atmosphere, reflecting off the treasures and casting intricate patterns on the walls.
The elder gestured to the displays and said, "Lord Hassa has extended his generosity. You are allowed to pick any three tier 7 items from our collection."
The fact was, Tier 7 items were considered sacred even among grand magus figures, and most Grade 1 factions did not possess them. If they did, these items would be considered important faction heirlooms. Emery understood this deeply; even two cosmos criminals like Mo Yan did not keep one other than the broken formation he used to contain the soul.
For the Earth faction, the closest things they possessed were the [Heavenly Array Flags] held by Fuxi, the tier 6 flags identified as tier 7 only in complete sets. The other was the mysterious sword of the Divine [Excalibur].
"Three of them... that's a lot," Magus Rosia said, her expression one of disbelief.
Tessa casually answered, "Well, without Emery's help, we might have lost dozens of them... So I think it's a fair reward. So... What are you looking for? Weapon? Armor?" Tessa asked with interest, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Emery gave the matter a deep thought. His tier 6 [Savage Blade] and [Embernight Sword] might soon be insufficient for him. With his current strength and situation, he would be facing many more grand magus realm figures; when they started using tier 7, Emery would be in trouble. He needed a tier 7 sword or a tier 7 armor to defend against this threat."One-handed sword or armor," he said.
"This way," Tessa said, stepping forward confidently to guide him. She was doing the elder's job for him, and her familiarity with the vault's contents was evident.
Seeing how Tessa confidently showed him around the items reminded him of the time they first met. Fifteen years ago, Tessa had been the manager of the Devildom Auction House in Golden City. The fact that the Karat faction had multiple shops and a renowned auction house only further highlighted that all the items they kept in this vault were among the rarest.
Unfortunately, the one-handed sword was considered the most sought-after by many. The Karat faction had given a few of their collection to their elders, and only three of them were left to choose from:
[Sword of Stellar Order]
[Infinite Wind Sword]
[Sword of 1000 Mountain]
All three swords were extraordinary; the metals and sharpness were top-of-the-line. However, most tier 7 artifacts, especially swords, were sentient items even without a soul embedded within them.
The [Sword of Stellar Order] was a masterpiece forged from the rarest celestial metals, its blade shimmering with a constellation of stars. It possessed an innate harmony with the cosmic forces and had an ethereal beauty that was unmatched. However, this sword rejected Emery because of the darkness and chaotic energy within him. It seemed to recoil at his touch, indicating a deep incompatibility with his essence.
The [Infinite Wind Sword] was sleek and elegant, crafted to be as light as a feather yet as strong as a tempest. Its blade hummed with the power of the wind, capable of cutting through the air with unparalleled speed and precision. Although it subtly matched Emery's nature core, the techniques that came with the sword depended on a high comprehension of wind, making Emery unable to properly utilize its full potential.
The [Sword of 1000 Mountain] was an overwhelming heavy sword, perfectly matching Emery's huge battle power. The sword could even synergize with his [Three Axis Mountain Technique], amplifying his strength to unprecedented levels. Unfortunately, it required cosmic energy to properly wield it, a power Emery could not access until he reached the grand magus realm.
"Let's see some armor then."
The Karat faction had a wide range of tier 7 armor, with eight distinct pieces displayed. Among them, half had compatibility issues similar to those of the swords; as for the rest;
[Desolate Demonic Armor]:
This was a heavy, imposing suit of armor, its dark, ornate design replete with intricate patterns and sinister aesthetics. The armor was not only formidable in defense but also possessed a charm that could both impress allies and intimidate foes. It resonated strongly with Emery's dark energy, making it a perfect fit for his cultivation of darkness. The armor's design was crafted to enhance and amplify dark energy, making it an excellent choice for a warrior steeped in such power. However, its weight and imposing nature might hinder mobility.
[Ocean Heart Vest]:
Made from the tail of a godly whale beast, this was a more understated piece of armor, designed to be worn discreetly beneath clothing. It boasted remarkable life-saving properties, including passive healing capabilities that could gradually mend wounds over time. Additionally, it improved water-based healing spells and came with a set of tier 7 healing spells that could enhance one's proficiency in the law of water. While it offered less physical protection compared to other armor, its healing properties and versatility made it a valuable asset.
Both armors would undoubtedly increase Emery's survivability in battle. Yet, the nature of his primal transformation—a powerful and often unpredictable change in his physical form—posed a risk of compromising the effectiveness of these armors. The armor might not withstand the stress and energy fluctuations caused by his transformations, making them potentially inefficient in high-intensity combat scenarios.
The third armor, [Five-colored Mystic Cloak], did not have the same limitations as the previous ones. This cloak was designed to mold around the wearer like a protective barrier, offering defense against spells and spiritual attacks. It was an excellent choice for shielding against magical assaults, but Emery noted that his wolf transformation already provided robust protection against such attacks, making the cloak somewhat redundant for his specific needs.
Finally, Tessa led him to the last armor, which was presented in a unique form: a golden metal liquid stored within a large glass tube. Emery's curiosity was piqued as he examined the shimmering liquid, which seemed to swirl with an otherworldly luminescence.
"What is this?" Emery asked, intrigued by the sight.
Tessa's eyes sparkled with pride as she began her explanation. "This is one of the Karat Faction's best-kept secrets. It's the main component used in the [Golden Form] technique—a seven-stage defensive spell that can reach up to tier 9 in capability."
She continued, detailing the process. "The liquid is classified as a tier 7 material and is injected internally into the person's bones. Once administered, it significantly enhances bone density and tempers the entire body, providing extraordinary defensive capabilities. This unique property was one of the reasons Izzack had devoted himself to the Karat faction for the past 50 years, rising to become one of the top 10 strongest magus in the universe. What intrigued Emery the most was the fact that the golden liquid metal and the [Golden Form] technique could enhance proficiency in the Law of Light, something he urgently needed to tackle the growing Khaos power within him.
As Tessa continued to explain the benefits of the item with evident pride, the old elder who was overseeing the vault began to appear increasingly restless. Young Miss… the liquid metal can certainly be chosen as one of the items, but the technique… I dont have the authority to grant access to it."
Tessa's gaze shifted to Emery, her smile unwavering. "If you want it, I can make it happen."
Emery weighed the implications carefully, however, before making any decisions, he had more items to see. Tessa led him to another section of the vault filled with an array of unique and unidentified items.
