The man wished for a miracle to happen.
Eventually, he saw a young man walking from the hill towards the clinic. After the young man had arrived at the clinic, he unlocked the door.
He’s here!
The man turned off the engine, then opened the door of his car. Suddenly he felt so cold.
“Gee, so cold!” said the man.
“Hmmm?” Wang Yao turned his head and saw the man getting out of the car. The man was wearing a down jacket.
It’s him!
Wang Yao remembered this man, who was in his 30’s. He remembered that the man was as weak as a woman who just gave birth to a baby.
As Wang Yao walked closer, he found that the man’s face was so pale. He was shivering with cold. It seemed that his condition had gotten worse.
What happened to him?
“Hello, Dr. Wang,” said the man.
“Hello,” said Wang Yao.
“I...” The man didn’t know what to say.
“Your condition has gotten worse?” asked Wang Yao.
“Yes,” said the man.
“Please come in,” said Wang Yao.
After they both had settled in the clinic, Wang Yao had a good look at the man.
“Hmmm, strange!” said Wang Yao.
He found that the man’s damaged vital energy had started to affect his fundamental health.
“Have you taken the formula I prescribed?” asked Wang Yao.
“Yes, I followed your instructions without any problems,” said the man certainly.
“Have you eaten anything you are not supposed to eat?” asked Wang Yao.
“No, definitely not. You told me not to eat cold and uncooked food. So I have only been eating warm and well-cooked food,” said the man.
“Where have you been lately?” asked Wang Yao.
“Nowhere. I just stayed at home watching TV, taking the medication, and sleeping,” said the man after thinking for a while. “It’s so cold outside, so I haven’t gone out. The only place I go is the grocery shop downstairs. I needed to buy vegetables and meat.”
Wang Yao didn’t know what to say. The man followed all his instructions, and his formula had no problems. How come he had been getting worse?
According to the man, he had started to be extremely sensitive to coldness since autumn. Then it got worse. He had to leave the heater on all the time in winter. He still felt cold, even with thick quilts covering his body. Wang Yao was pretty sure that the man’s vital energy had a massive deficiency. If the man’s condition got worse, he would be like Yang Haichuan’s mother, whose fundamental health had been damaged.
“Well, I’ll prescribe you a different formula this time. Please try it.” After thinking for a while, Wang Yao prescribed him Sanyang Powder, which he had prescribed for Yang Haichuan’s mother before.
“Another prescription?” said the man.
“Yes?” said Wang Yao with surprise. The man was fed up with medications.
“Tell you the truth. I’ve seen at least 10 doctors due to my condition. Every doctor prescribed different medications for me, but none of those medications worked,” said the man.
“What medications have you taken?” asked Wang Yao.
The man was prepared. He took out a list out of his pocket, on which he wrote all the medications he had taken.
“Wow, you really pay attention to details,” said Wang Yao, smiling.
He took over the list to and read it thoroughly.
Most of the medications were chemical drugs, which Wang Yao was not familiar with. He had never heard of most of the medications, let alone their effect and nature.
The man’s condition is caused by external factors. What damaged his vital energy so badly? thought Wang Yao.
“Have you had any serious injuries before?” asked Wang Yao.
“No,” said the man.
“Hmmm.” Sometimes Wang Yao had difficulty figuring out the cause of a disease.
He had a look at the man again.
What is this?!
He found something different this time.
Such as strong Yin energy! There was a weird cold energy inside the man’s body, which was completely different to the energy he found in Yang Haichuan’s mother’s body. This weird cold energy was not easy to detect.
Inhale, exhale.
Wang Yao suddenly thought about a way. He transferred some Qi into the man’s body, and as he did, he felt a slice of weak Qi coming from the man. If Wang Yao’s Qi was a burning flame, the man’s Qi was a candle in the wind.
The man’s Qi was weak and in disorder.
“Doctor?” asked the man.
“Just one second.” Wang Yao was still thinking.
“Let’s go.” He suddenly stood up.
“Where are we going?” asked the man.
“Your house,” said Wang Yao.
“My house? Why?” asked the man.
“I can’t explain it,” said Wang Yao. “Is it okay with you?”
“Yes, let’s go,” said the man.
Wang Yao stuck a sign on the door, indicating he was not in the clinic before he left.
“This way, please,” said the man.
“I’ll drive my own car. Can you lead the way? I’ll follow your car,” said Wang Yao.
Wang Yao drove behind the man slowly.
Zhu City was located next to Lianshan. The road between two places was very wide, and it was the only main road. There were a lot of cars on the road.
Wang Yao and the man arrived at the man’s house about one hour later. The man’s name was Lun Hengran.
The heater was on when they entered the house. It was very warm.
“Please take a seat, Dr. Wang.” The man went to the kitchen to make Wang Yao a cup of tea.
“You don’t need to worry about me, I won’t stay long,” said Wang Yao.
After entering the room, Wang Yao had a strange feeling on top of the warm feeling.
He felt cold!
It was a coldness. Not like a usual coldness, but a strange gloomy and cold feeling. As if Wang Yao was standing in the shadow on a warm winter day. It was a spooky feeling.
The aura in the room was weird. It was in disorder. Normally the aura in a room in winter should be stable because people kept the window closed most of the time. Wang Yao tried to release some of his Qi to have a stronger sense of the coldness.
He walked around the living room and noticed there were a lot of indoor plants. He could see over 20 different plants. The edge of the walls were filled with flower pots.
“You like flowers?” asked Wang Yao.
“Yes, I like flowers. Every time I find a nice pot of flowers, I will bring it home,” said Lun Hengran.
Wang Yao had a close look at those flowers.
“Some of them are not suitable to be put indoors,” said Wang Yao.
“Oh, why?” asked Lun Hengran.
“Flowers like lily, tuberose, and mimosa will release some special substances that could your health. And this one, pine, and cypress bonsai. I can see you have least five of them in the living room,” said Wang Yao.
“Yes, six actually. Evergreen plants. I really like them,” said Lun Hengran.
“They are actually worse. Pine and cypress releases a special aroma, which some people are allergic to. In addition, Pine and cypress are evergreen plants, which has a strong Yin energy. They are often planted next to cemeteries,” said Wang Yao.
“Oh my! I never thought about it!” said Lun Hengran.
“Most of the plants here have to be moved out of your house, otherwise they’ll have a very negative impact on your health,” said Wang Yao.
He didn’t expect that Lun Hengran was so keen to collect bonsai. If he had placed these bonsai in a garden or greenhouse, the impact on his health wouldn’t be that profound. However, he placed them all inside his house. The damage was huge.
However, the bonsai was not the biggest problem Lun Hengran had in his house.
Wang Yao stopped in front of the TV cabinet.
“What’s wrong, Dr. Wang?” asked Lun Hengran.
“Where is this stone from?” asked Wang Yao.
He noticed a bluish yellow stone placed on the TV cabinet. The stone was an irregular disc-shape, and there was a line on it.
“Oh, I bought it,” said Lun Hengran.
“What did you buy it for?” asked Wang Yao.
“Oh, because it is such a unique shape. I thought it looks pretty, so I spent 300 yuan buying it,” said Lun Hengran.
“300 yuan? Do you know what it is?” asked Wang Yao.
“One of my friends told me the stone seems to be from Yellow River. He said 300 is a good price,” said Lun Hengran.
“A Yellow River Stone? No, this is worship stone,” said Wang Yao.
“What is worship stone?” asked Lun Hengran.
“A worship stone is something you put in front of a grave to worship your dead family members,” said Wang Yao.
Wang Yao could sense a unique Yin energy when he stood in front of the TV cabinet. The Yin energy was strong and disturbed the aura of the house. It shocked Wang Yao. He took a good look, and found this stone, which was used to worship the dead. He was astonished to see it in a living person’s house.
“Wait, the stone is really used to worship the dead?” asked Lun Hengran.
“Yes, guaranteed,” said Wang Yao.
The reason why Wang Yao recognized the stone immediately was because that he had seen its description in The Treatise on Miscellaneous Diseases. The stone could be used as herb, and his Qi couldn’t steer him wrong as to the nature.
“I see. I actually have another stone in my bedroom. Can you have a look?” said Lun Hengran.
“Another one?” said Wang Yao.
Following Lun Hengran into his bedroom, Wang Yao saw a second worship stone, which was smaller than the one in the living room.
“That one,” said Lun Hengran.
“Same thing,” said Wang Yao.
He was really surprised to see two worship stones in someone’s house.
No matter if you looked at it from Feng Shui or just sheer superstition, it was not a good thing to place items related to the dead in one’s house. In addition, the stones had strong Yin energy. Not to mention they were taken from the grave, which made the Yin energy even stronger.
A large amount of bonsai trees and two worship stones turned a living person’s house into a grave, especially there considering the two pine and cypress bonsai next to the worship stone in the living room.
