No one wanted to go into dark places, especially poor neighborhoods. If it was a man, he might be robbed or beaten at best. However, for girls, the situation was even more dangerous, especially for those who didn't even realize what could happen.

Step. Step. Step.

A few silhouettes stepped along a dark road among old and grimy houses. Smoke was coming from the silhouettes, with a very unpleasant smell as its source was cheap cigarettes.

'Hmm... Just as I thought there would be a lot of people here who smoke... Don't they care about their health at all? Smoking is not healthy!' Mia inwardly shook her head, stepped forward, and walked the other way. There was no need for her to face them.

Unfortunately, unlike Mia, the silhouettes were not going to ignore her. One of them pointed at her as devious smirks appeared on the faces of the others. They were drunk and in an inadequate state of mind, but even despite Mia's age, they all had the same idea.

"Hey, girl, you know, it's not safe to walk around here alone." One of them said, with a wave of his hand.

"Yeah, I agree." His buddy stood in front of Mia, blocking her way. The others gradually approached.

Whoooooooooooosh.

Without further ado, Mia rushed forward, but no sooner had she taken a few steps than someone stood in front of her, she hit and fell to the ground.

"Damn, didn't your parents teach you that it's not polite to run away like that?" One of them smirked, "Well, I guess I'll have to teach you a lesson, though... you might as well apologize, what do you guys think?"

"Yeah! That's a good idea!"

"Hahaha!"

...

Zayne ran, deep inside he was scared, but he couldn't let his emotions take control, so he ended up among the dark streets as fast as he could. Mia didn't scream for help, but he had no trouble finding her by the strong smell of smoke and alcohol.

'Mia!' Zayne inwardly exclaimed, looking at the several silhouettes, standing around his sister. They surrounded her and kept her from getting through, so she just couldn't get out.

'There are four of them... There's no way I could have handled that many in a normal situation, but they're pretty drunk, two of them can hardly stand on their feet.' Zayne quickly estimated the situation and rushed forward without question.

One of the silhouettes heard loud footsteps behind, from which, ripples ran through the puddles and muddy droplets flew apart.

Crackling.

Zayne's fist came down on one of them. It was an ordinary punch, but Zayne punched as hard as he could since his sister's safety depended on it.

"Agh...? What's going on...?" Silhouette muttered and immediately received another blow.

Mia's eyes went wide. Deep down inside she was glad that her brother had come to save her, but she was just as worried since he was alone against four people.

"Damn... What the hell is this?" Selania frowned with a contemptuous look, "It feels like I'm watching a battle of young boys who just came to Knight Academy, it's a real shame!"

Zayne got hit from time to time, and his whole body was covered in bruises, but he had already dealt with the two opponents.

"Shit...! I can't see anything! Why is he moving so fast!" One of them exclaimed, not realizing that his main enemy was the enormous amount of alcohol he had drunk.

Zayne tossed the third silhouette aside with a powerful blow. He was breathing heavily, and he needed to rest, but he couldn't afford it until he was done with his last opponent.

"Bastard... What were you even thinking? Is there nothing human about you at all?" Zayne exhaled cold steam, with a fierce stare.

The silhouette flinched, then on his face appeared a sly smirk, "Hehehe, you thought you were the coolest, right? Do you think you can save her now and be the hero? Fuck! I'll show you how wrong you are!"

Whooooooooooooooosh.

The silhouette waved his hand as it drew a massive long-barreled pistol from his back.

"What the hell...?" Zayne shuddered in fear, he had never had a gun pointed at him before.

Click.

The silhouette pulled the trigger as a bullet launched from the gun, whizzing by Zayne.

"Agh? Did I miss?" Silhouette muttered, looking at the gun in confusion.

Zayne wanted to run away like any normal person, but he couldn't do it, so gathering all his will, he rushed forward.

Crackle.

Zayne knocked the man down and snatched the gun from his hands, then he hurriedly fired several shots into the ground, trying to chase the man away so that he would forget his way here forever.

"Don't you dare show your face here again!" Zayne exclaimed furiously, holding the gun with trembling hands.

Man's eyes went wide as he tried to get up and run away, but did so clumsily because he was drunk.

'Maybe I should kill him...?' The thought raced through Zayne's mind, but he immediately shook his head and shuddered, he felt uncomfortable thinking about it, 'No... I'm not a killer, what's more, he's already leaving.'

"Bastard! I'll come back and find you but for now... Take this! Hahaha!!!" The silhouette laughed like a madman, tossing out several flasks filled with some kind of liquid.

Zayne didn't know what it was, but as soon as the flasks touched the ground, a poisonous cloud rose. The man missed, so Zayne wasn't hurt, but all the poison went toward someone behind him.

"Agh, agh, agh, brother...!" Mia, coughing, called out for help, then her eyes slowly closed.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The world trembled as Selania's mind returned to normal. She was slightly puzzled, for this was not exactly what she had expected to see.

"Happy?" Zayne said coldly.

"Agh...?" Selania glanced at him.

"I'm asking you... Are you happy that you put me through this nightmare again?" Zayne's tone turned sharp, "You know... A week later I saw on the news that those bastards died of a drug overdose, but... Mia was already sick from the side effects..."

Selania wanted to answer something, but she just couldn't do it because of Zayne's stare.

"That's so damn unfair..." Zayne whispered with eyes as deep as the abyss. Grief, resentment, and hatred overwhelmed him, these feelings like demons sitting deep inside Zayne were about to come out, and their gazes were directed entirely at Selania.
