Chapter 261: Stronger

[Bonus for 1200 GTs]

The first time Sylas truly faced the Arctic Emperor Cobra’s gaze, it felt like all of his blood had frozen cold. He realized that even if he could see the cobra’s stats, it wouldn’t give him the full picture. If anything, it would just give him a false impression of what he was facing.

For the first time, he was seeing a creature that could actually faintly resist his Beast Totem. Of course, it failed in the end. The Talent of a Legendary Path Profession couldn’t be ignored by just any beast. But it told Sylas something else…

Maybe out there, somewhere, there was a beast of the Serpentes that really could ignore his Beast Totem’s effects.

After a moment of shock, it felt as though something within Sylas had been provoked.

The mental pressure on him vanished, and he had the Basilisk King activate <Voice of a King> right then and there despite the fact it was being besieged.

[Title: Legendary Tamer]

[You have subdued the pride of a Legendary Beast, your skill knows no bounds]

[Title: BOSS Slayer]

[+10% ALL stats when facing an opponent 10 Levels or more above you]

Sylas made it to the Basilisk King’s side in the next instant. Three ballista bolts appeared and twisted down.

The cobras were caught off guard, almost as though they only realized now that their target was Sylas.

Sylas picked one up by its tail and smashed it against a tree with all his might. He could feel the fibers of his torso stretching taut as though they might rip apart at any moment.

BANG!

Its head exploded into a rain of gore.

The Basilisk King’s tail whipped it the moment it got some breathing room, shattering another one into a rain of blood and flesh.

By this point, the Arctic Emperor Cobra was no more than 20 meters away. Sylas could feel the full brunt of its presence in his visualization. It appeared more like a blazing bonfire than a creature, seeming amorphous and hard to spot until his actual eyes landed on it.

Now, the restrictions around it were even more obvious to Sylas’ eyes, and with Enchanted Scribe, he could understand what was happening faintly.

It seemed that the system wasn’t as unreasonable as he thought. The restrictions were in place to give him a chance.

The Arctic Emperor Cobra had accepted a deal in order to have a chance to avenge its son, while Sylas was forced into the situation but had the chance to deal with the Arctic King Cobras in waves instead.

First the minions, then the elites, and only then would the Arctic Emperor Cobra be able to attack personally. Unless, of course, he broke the rules of the contract and attacked it directly.

Sylas’ gaze flickered. He had known that his Enchanted Scribe ability would come in clutch for moments exactly like this one. Without it, he might have made the mistake of coming at it directly.

In that case…

Sylas moved forward like lightning. This time, he took the vanguard, and the Basilisk King trailed behind him, keeping up pace quite easily now that its Speed was actually beyond Sylas’ own.

“Now,” Sylas commanded coldly.

The Basilisk King, which had been storing up <King’s Bind>, reacted swiftly.

When it was on its own, these Skills took too much time to cast. But now, the situation was different.

The Skill hit one of the elite Level 10’s, but the ripple outward occurred exactly as Sylas had expected, stunning several of the Level 8’s for a moment. The other Level 10’s shrugged it off as though nothing at all had happened, but the Level 8’s weren’t nearly so lucky, and this was precisely what Sylas capitalized on.

Three of them couldn’t even react before their heads were blasted to pieces.

Rage flashed in the eyes of the Arctic Emperor Cobra, but it still couldn’t do anything to change the situation. Not yet…

Sylas took a breath, and his Beast Totem trembled. He could feel the drain on his mind, and his psyche was beginning to be pulled past the point of normal fatigue. Maintaining a Visualization like this was no easy task, but the burning flame of his Will only burned brighter as <Maddened Enlightenment> activated.

<Psychedelic Punch>.

Sylas felt the roar of his fist echo through the wind. A fist imprint soared through the air, burning with a green hue as it appeared before the frozen Level 10 elite.

BANG!

Sylas felt the muscles in his arm practically tear apart, but in the same instant, Basic Aetherflow, his Skill, and his fist fused into one, shattering the body of the elite cobra.

He knew that he had to kill at least one of them in this exchange. There was no telling if he would get another chance that came as easily. Even if it used up one of his two allowed <Psychedelic Punch>’s, it was worth it.

Sylas landed, and he let the Basilisk King soar by him. Two more ballista bolts appeared in the skies as he exhaled a breath.

DOOM.

At the same time, a heavy shield appeared.

[Hero’s Heart Shield (FF-)]

[Level: 10]

[Ability: Bulwark; Final Stand; Restore]

[Form a Hero Heart with your best warrior, use their Will to amplify the defenses of your troops. For every 100 points of Will, amplify Constitution of up to 20 warriors by 10%]

[Will: 1089]

In that moment, both Sylas’ and the Basilisk King’s Constitution increased by 100%. The Basilisk King alone almost hit quadruple digits, and a blazing golden aura began to pulse from it.

“Go.”

Sylas had only just spoken when the Basilisk King dove in headfirst. It knew no fear as it unleashed a rain of carnage.

But that was when the situation changed.

Sylas felt it before he even saw it.

[Arctic King’s Domain (FFF-) (Skill)]

[Special Damage: 50/second]

[Special Buff: +80% to all Ice-Poison Skills used]

The Arctic Emperor Cobra unleashed a Skill, and it was far stronger than when his son had used it.
