Chapter 350: Out

[The Fates Align (Silver) (Secret)]

[Your paths are converging but the compass spins chaotically. The system has seen your plight and chooses to send a beacon of light to illuminate your way.]

[Will you accept this guidance?]

[No]

The pressure on Sylas’ chest disappeared all at once. And then, there was a strong suction force that came from his body.

Before he could react, The Fates Align was sucked into his body and swallowed by his Gluttony Seed.

Sylas blinked in confusion for a moment before he felt a strong strength coming from his Seed. He even felt that because of this change, he might be able to use his telekinesis to levitate for a brief instant if he activated his Gluttony Seed at the same time.

But even without going all out, the Effectiveness of his Gluttony Seed had increased greatly. He could probably easily wield something as heavy as 100 to 120 pounds with his Gluttony Seed for up to a few minutes. And now, even without his Gluttony Seed active, he could likely control around 70 pounds without issue.

This was a great boon.

A part of him was still curious about what The Fates Align wanted to tell him, but he was confident enough in himself to figure it out.

This Secret should have been triggered by a certain factor in his life. That meant that the system had deduced it. And to Sylas, if someone else could deduce something, even if it was a million-year-old alien technology, he was confident he could do the same.

Sylas continued to roll.

This time, it wasn’t until precisely his 200th pull at the machine that he finally got something else.

[Brittle Gene State Elixir (Silver) (Formula)]

[Concoction method of 3-use Brittle Gene State Elixir. 20% chance of forming 1-day Brittle Gene Elixir. 1% chance of forming 3-day Brittle Gene Elixir.]

[Formula can be learned by applicable Professions.]

[Uses Left: 3/3]

‘This is classified as a Silver Formula…?’

Sylas was left a hint disappointed again, but it seemed that Gene Elixirs were rare for a reason. The Formula in his hands now was probably the most valuable Formula in the world… he would just need someone of the alchemy Profession to make use of it, and it was also a question of how rare the materials would be as well.

Most people would be stuck in a Rigid Gene State. This alone, with Stat and Gene Limits, was the largest reason for a person’s slow progress.

If this could be mass-produced, or at least produced at a rate high enough to sustain a city, this would be a huge boon.

He set aside his disappointment and continued to spin. Cassarae would have a few upgrades coming soon, and each one would come with a spawn chance. If she focused on a few Professions, it would be hugely beneficial.

The tickets continued to be consumed until the slot machine came to a stop at the 247th.

[Mancer’s Wand (Silver) (Treasure)]

Sylas sighed when he saw this come up. He knew that eventually his Luck would run out and something quite useless to him would appear. This sort of treasure was the last thing he wanted because it would be difficult for him to use unless it had a very specific kind of use case.

The Hero Shield he had lost was a good example of this. He could only use it because it had an area-of-effect defensive Skill attached to it. Without that, it would be useless. It was the same reason he couldn’t make use of swords very effectively either, and Azrael’s weapon, despite being so high-leveled, usually just ended up sitting in his Madness Key unused.

However, as Sylas was thinking this, he read the description and saw something that made his gaze flicker.

[Mancer’s Wand (Silver) (Treasure)]

[The Paths of the Mancer are long and complex. There is no one Path that is superior to another, but the distance one can travel depends greatly on your strength of heart. The Mancer’s Wand allows you to feel and sense your Path of the Mancer, how to progress it, and how to improve it. How far you can see down this road will be decided by your own personal insight.]

It was the oddest description of a treasure that Sylas had ever seen. There were no stats, no requirements… in fact, it read more like the introduction to a Dungeon or a Quest. But it was exactly that which intrigued Sylas.

He carefully took the wand with his telekinesis. Then, he activated Basic Aetherflow with what small bits of Aether he had left just to see what would happen.

His mind was suddenly swamped with an array of senses, but it felt blocked and even somewhat stuffy. He realized immediately that this was for two reasons.

First, the Aether in the region was too sparse. And second, even if it was, it wasn’t of his particular element, so it was hard to sense the path he needed for it.

But that aside, he realized that the wand, although looking like a normal wooden stick, had far more capability to absorb and gather surrounding Aether than he did.

This ordinary appearance of the wand seemed to only remain so for a moment before its bark fell off to reveal a body of transparent blue crystal.

‘It took on the characteristics of my Aether…’ Sylas blinked, realizing the change immediately. ‘Is this how it will help me fix my future path? Fascinating…’

Sylas made a mental note that he would need to take out this wand again when he was in a region more compatible with his Aether and see what happened. Then, he began to spin once more.

This time, it wasn’t until his 312th spin that he got something.

At this rate, Sylas felt that it would be foolish of him to upgrade the slot machine again in hopes of getting a gold treasure. He might as well stick with what he had.

‘Now, what is this…?’
