Genetic Ascension

Chapter 453: Superior [Bonus]

Chapter 453: Superior [Bonus]

Sylas sat in silence, staring off into the distance. On the one hand, his mind was churning. And on the other, he was taking the opportunity to replenish his stamina.

From time to time, he would pop a nutritional pill into his mouth and energy would flood through him. He was taking his body recovery even more seriously now despite having the Dual Class Constitution.

The only unfortunate part was that he still didn’t have the time to dial in his sleep the way he would like to. He still wanted to observe Nosphaleen for longer before he trusted her enough to do that.

However, there was no doubt that this Legendary Quest reward was a shocking one. He never failed to be surprised by his new body even days later. It seemed to have a new surprise for him every day.

‘The Multi Quest introduction mentioned that the demon villages are involved in all of this as well. I should take the opportunity to destroy a few of them and gather Experience. The higher Taboo Bond is, the better…’

Assuming he would need to get Taboo Bond to Level 50 just like his own personal Level to max out its state in the F-Grade, he couldn’t even fathom the amount of Experience he would need.

The cost was already 20,000, and he already knew that it wouldn’t increase linearly.

‘If the Ravenclaws don’t make a move, I’ll do that.’

Sylas slowly stood, beginning to stretch his body, something else that had become a daily routine.

It was also about time he start questioning Nosphaleen about some important matters.

“What do you know about what happened to your Clypsian Race?”

Nosphaleen blinked, not having expected such a question so suddenly. She knew that Sylas would eventually ask, but he had such an odd cadence with how he did things that kept people on their toes.

The more she observed him, the more she felt that he might be the most dangerous person she had ever met.

“I only know what my elders have told me. We were the overlords of the Second Summoning, but we ended up losing for reasons even we don’t fully understand. A lot of us think it’s because of the Dogons, though.”

“And why’s that?”

“The Dogons were the overlords of the Third Summoning. But logically speaking, we should have been given another chance. They seemed to come out of nowhere as though someone accelerated their evolution. Although we knew that they were on pace to potentially become an overlord Race in the future, they were lagging far behind us originally.”

“And the humans?”

“The evolution of the Human Race seemed far more natural. It wasn’t until the Sixth Summoning that you all appeared in your current state, though you had been around in some form since the First Summoning.”

Sylas raised an eyebrow when he heard this.

There were only two ways to interpret Nosphaleen’s words. Either she was lying, or she subconsciously looked down on humans more than Sylas thought.

According to Sylas’ understanding of the timeline, the first few Extinctions were hundreds of millions of years ago. Even the dinosaurs only died during the Fifth Extinction, or in other words, the so-called “Fifth Summoning.”

He wouldn’t be surprised if these timelines were off or the whole Extinction to Summoning correlation was all a faked facade.

But the timeline scale difference shouldn’t be too exaggerated.

There was simply no way there were “humans” around so far back then when there were barely any primates during the dinosaur period.

These Clypsians really saw the Human Race no differently than they saw monkeys. In fact, it might be even worse than just that.

Not only was Sylas not offended by this, he even felt that he understood their perspective.

The closest genetic relative to humans were what? Chimpanzees? And there was a barely 1% difference between their DNA. But how much smarter than chimps were humans?

Now, what was the difference between Clypsians and Humans? Sylas doubted that it was just blue skin and a few reflective scales.

“Anyway… during the Third Summoning and the Fourth, we spent more time fighting amongst one another for supremacy than we did trying to find a path to survival. We realized too late that we were being interfered with by outside forces.”

Sylas’ gaze flashed. “You fought? How did you fight when you lost your status as an overlord Race?”

Logically speaking, the moment the Dogons replaced the Clypsians, the former should have had an insurmountable advantage.

“We are the superior intelligence.” Nosphaleen replied as though it was just a matter of fact.

Sylas continued to look at her and she realized quickly that this explanation wasn’t enough for him.

“Not everyone dies after a Summoning failure unless something goes terribly wrong. We had many powerful experts remaining though they had rules they had to follow. Plus, with their experience, although it’s difficult to progress without the favor of the system, it isn’t impossible.”

“I see.”

Sylas nodded, looking off into the distance.

This pretty much confirmed something…

There just might be Clypsians and Dogons still hiding in the shadows somewhere ready to make their move. In fact, who knew if there weren’t any other Races waiting in the wings? He couldn’t help but notice that he had yet to run into a single dinosaur, the most famous of the Extinct creatures.

Sylas could only hope that they had learned their lesson from their previous failures.

‘Maybe they have, but humans have no idea that this is the final chance we have. Now that I know all of this, I have a feeling whoever manipulated the facts did so on purpose so that they could trigger infighting again. Without believing that our backs are truly against the wall, who would take working together seriously?’

Sylas exhaled a slow breath, the light in his eyes burning bright.

“They’re making a move.”

Sylas felt his Luck stir somewhat. Someone was targeting him.

The once subtle feelings felt far sharper now.
