Adam was walking up the stairs while looking at his current resources after making his choice.

[Current Karma: 7300]

[Free pass: 1x Bronze pass || 1x Silver pass.]

'7k. Only around 93k more to open the next chakra, I guess.'

He could only leak out a self-deprecating laugh at those insane numbers that he had to accumulate. At least, he hoped that he would see the next pivot soon as it would give him 50k from what he estimated in his mind.

The good thing was that with this much Karma he could buy a few A and S rank skills once he filled the prerequisites for them.

[You surprised me back there. Your final choice went against my predictions.]

Adam stopped in his tracks when he heard Genesis' voice in his mind.

'What did you expect me to choose?'

[The system has been slowly tagging you as a Lawful Good or Lawful Neutral. You tend to fall towards righteousness and even your choice of the Black Knight path last time was more out of helplessness than pure logic.]

Adam listened quietly to the inorganic voice explain itself, knowing that Genesis wasn't wrong in its judgment.

Adam had been raised with clear values about right and wrong by Cecilia from a young age. After all, no matter how retired she was, Cecilia could be said to be a modern-day Hero in her own right.

Had nothing changed, he would have never made such a decision.

But sadly...

'I have been thinking. What will happen once my alignment is decided?'

He sighed and decided to ask about something that has been intriguing him for some time now.

[The frequency and type of ordeals will depend on your tendencies. Be good. More ordeal that asks you to be good. Be bad. More ordeal that asks you to be bad.]

Adam laughed quietly after hearing that explanation. This was indeed worthy of a system that cared not for good and evil. It could swing either way.

'Anyways to answer your question. I was studying to become a lawyer. I wanted to do good and virtuous things and still believe in doing good and virtuous deeds. Which is why I will work as a hunter. But...'

Adam clenched his fist lightly as he revealed his reasoning to the Book spirit, 'Entering the criminal world with a different persona is the best way to accelerate my accumulation of Karma.'

No matter how much Adam wanted to reject this notion, the truth was still merciless. Doing evil deeds gave added more Karma to his soul and gave him access to more strength.

He needed... No, wanted more power. So he had to make a decision at this point.

Genesis' last proposal about using his Magician power to hide his identity had been a real stroke of genius. So Adam decided to make full use of this power to cement his rise to power.

He would create different personas with different powers, all so that he could infiltrate all parts of life.

Of course, he had no wish to become a mass murderer like Genesis proposed him to become.

'I will establish my own lines. Limits that I won't ever cross.'

Since he would inevitably break many laws from now on, he had to create his own set of rules.

His creed. One he must always follow no matter what.

The good thing was that he currently had three minds. So each mind could take care of different roles.

'Well, it's time to do my first true job I guess.'

The first mission Yui gave him was to steal something.

He grinned and moved towards one of the VIP rooms, a special room that Yui created for members who were offered or paid for a membership.

This was a system she implemented after his little stunts last week.

Without a doubt, Yui's business acumen was quite high. Nothing better than a membership system to stroke the pride of the rich and make them spend even more than actually necessary.

He took a tray with wine on it and once he finally reached the door, he sighed, gathered his bearings, steeled his mind, and opened the door in a calm and professional motion.

'Let's start the operation.'

------

In the VIP room, Kang Hae-Won was sipping a bit of wine while looking at the interior of the room she had been sent to when she entered the Wild Hunt establishment.

In a way, it looked quite a bit like an expensive version of your standard Karaoke room. Two mics, a large screen with high-quality videos, and a phone on the side to call for services.

But this was where things stopped being similar to your standard Karaoke room. With even her unprofessional eyesight, she was able to notice many great brands in this room and she knew that a woman like the Black Phoenix [1] would not deal with fake goods.

Knowing that she would soon be able to deal with that legendary woman made her slightly sweat in trepidation.

This was the perfect occasion for her to distinguish herself in the organization and show her husband that she was much better than that new secretary of his whom he was showering with his attention. A bit too much of it, in fact.

'Calm down. Just calm down. She won't eat you and our gangs are still friendly.'

She once again filled the glass and took another swing of the blood red liquid in order to soothe her nerves.

The day she received that invitation, she had debated quite a bit before finally accepting to come into hostile territory.

But the letter had been so full of praise of her. For her, who had been lacking any positive encouragement in years, this had been like rain in the midst of a drought and she had accepted coming for the first time last week during the weekend.

She didn't regret it a single bit.

It had been a very magical night. But this had not been why she had come to this place.

She had not come to dream but to face a very important reality of hers. She needed to make herself useful. Because in their world, what was useless was rarely kept for long.

"May I enter?"

When she heard the voice from the other side of the door, Hae-Won jumped slightly in surprise but managed to keep herself from leaking out a startled cry somehow. She was embarrassed by this greatly, wondering why she was being so nervous about it all.

Soon, she gathered her bearings and cleared her throat before speaking.

"You may enter."

Instantly, her personality seemed to have changed altogether.

She went from being a worried and haggard woman to looking like a confident and seductive woman that could make any man dance in her palms.

Though, when the door was finally open, she had a hard time not showing her astonishment at the sight of the one who entered the room.

"Prince Cinder?"

[1]: I forgot to add this to Feng Huang Yui. This is one of her nicknames in the underworld as her name, Feng Huang, actually means phoenix.
