Godlike Player in a Game-Like World

Chapter 336 The Growing Doubt (Part 1)

'What's wrong with this girl now? ' Raydon wondered, noticing the change in Nysora's demeanor.

The person who, prior to the match, had given the impression of being authoritative and self-assured now wore a glum expression and gave off a strong sense of being unhappy.

Observing Nysora still awaiting his response while bowing respectfully, Raydon asked, "Can you store the items in your dimensional storage for me? I'll take them back after the match."

As he pondered the reason behind Nysora's shift in emotions, Raydon acknowledged that understanding women had always been a challenge for him, even in his previous life. Recognizing the complexity of their emotions, he decided not to dwell on it further, realizing that without a mind-reading skill, he would only be wasting his time.

"Yes, of course," Nysora replied with a sigh, somewhat relieved that she could contribute in some way.

Approaching the cats cautiously, she began to collect the items. Initially, the cats seemed reluctant to part with them, but after a single glance from Raydon, they allowed her to retrieve the items without causing any trouble.

Raydon pondered their value as loot pets as he observed their behavior, wondering if these creatures could possess some form of dimensional storage themselves. He considered providing them with tools to aid in their loot-carrying abilities and resolved to look for appropriate items for that purpose.

''Young master. ''

While Nysora was methodically gathering items and Raydon was deliberating over how to upgrade his pets, the other battle maids sped toward them.

Feline and Arora did not waste any time getting started on the mission that had been given to them. They hurried to Raydon as fast as they could and used their skills to help him recover.

"Floral Rejuvenation."

''Luminous Healing. ''

Examining Raydon's wounds as they rapidly healed, Feline couldn't help but think, 'It seems like none of these wounds were inflicted by the enemy. '

They had finally come to the realization that there was no one else in the E-Rank match who could compete with him. They started to believe that he was his own greatest opponent at this point. When it came down to it, Raydon's only rival was...Raydon himself.

"Well, now that I've achieved my primary objective, we can start farming," Raydon declared, rising slowly as his body fully healed.

While he was looking at the system panel, he noticed that their team was currently in the lead, and that victory was very likely theirs. Keeping this in mind, he planned on concentrating his efforts on hunting down enemy teams in order to increase his kill count while also gaining experience points by eliminating mobs.

However, there was an issue that needed to be resolved, and he sought assistance from Arora in doing so.

"Can you locate other enemy teams? I also want to target some mobs," Raydon requested.

In order for him to advance to the D-Rank, he needed to finish off 990 more enemy item holders while also winning 10 matches. Therefore, he relied on Arora's investigative abilities to uncover potential targets.

Unfortunately, the response he received wasn't what he had hoped for.

"Uh? Um..." Arora stammered, panic evident on her face.

After scanning the surroundings, her gaze settled on a few crows lying amidst the cats, their existence seemingly incomprehensible. The majority of the crows were bald, and only a few of them were barely breathing.

"Are they the only ones remaining?" Nysora asked, understanding the predicament.

"Yes, I'm deeply sorry, young master," Arora replied, her tone filled with regret.

All of her skills, particularly her investigative abilities, relied on her spirit crows. However, she had used them all to locate the Region Boss and prevent the opposing team from killing it, leaving none available now.

"Hmm, that's a problem," Raydon remarked, a frown appearing on his face as he pondered the situation. His attention then turned to Feline.

He recalled the usefulness of Feline's flower path skill for investigative purposes earlier.

"I can try to help, but my skill isn't very effective for large areas," Feline admitted, bowing her head.

As soon as Raydon heard Feline's confession, he immediately agreed with her without giving it much thought. He came to the realization that Feline's ability, the flower path, was better suited for specific and limited areas and that it was not the best option for locating dispersed enemies and opposing teams in a large area.

'That skill seems more useful for inheritances,' Raydon muttered, reflecting on his past experiences with inheritance events. The skill would allow him to easily observe the path ahead before making any moves. However, he understood that its effectiveness was limited in a large-scale regional match like the current one.

The battle maids, who were obviously embarrassed by the fact that they were unable to help in this situation, bowed their heads. They had always relied on Arora's spirit crows for investigation, never foreseeing a situation where they would be unable to utilize them.

Aware that his Death Sense skill would not suffice for the remaining duration of the match, Raydon searched for an alternative solution. An idea struck him, and he turned to Arora.

"Can you use these cats in place of your crows?" he suggested, pointing towards the cat battalion patiently waiting with their black wings adorning their backs.

Initially considering using the cats himself, Raydon abandoned the idea due to his lack of specific command-giving skills, rendering them ineffective for investigative purposes. However, observing how Arora controlled her spirit crows, he was confident that she possessed at least one control-type skill.

Upon hearing this suggestion, Arora carefully observed the winged cats for a while, her gaze shifting between them and Raydon. After considering the situation, she turned to him and spoke.

"If these cats don't have an owner, I can attempt to create bonds with them using my control-type skill," Arora began, her voice filled with a mix of determination and uncertainty. "However, if they already have an owner and resist my skill, even with the increased chances provided by my title, the probability of successfully establishing a bond with all of them remains low. It may take lots of time."
