Arlan brought the engineers and architects to the location of Sigurd's team. They were hiding on top of a hill with numerous trees which provided a cover for them.
When Arlan and the others arrived, Sigurd told them to keep quiet as he pointed at a huge zombie beneath the hill. It was devouring an animal that looked like a giant pig.
"That's a Tank-type zombie?!" The engineers were shocked and scared when they saw the huge zombie.
Arlan nodded his head and said. "Among the unique type zombies, Tank-type zombies are the most difficult to kill. Their skin is tough so ordinary bullets can't hurt them."
The engineers revealed a look of horror upon hearing this. The Tank-type zombie was like a beast from a horror movie for them. Just the sight of it made their legs turn soft.
"Boss, what do you want us to do?" Sigurd asked while looking at Arlan.
Arlan raised his hand and told him to wait. He then stared at the situation beneath the hill. Other than the Tank-type zombie, there were over a hundred zombies walking aimlessly. "Sigurd, take care of the Tank-type zombie but don't destroy its body. As for the normal zombies, let your men deal with them. I'll stay here to protect the engineers and architects." He said after observing the zombies beneath the hill.
"Understood." Sigurd nodded his head. He then stood up and grabbed his sword while telling his men to kill the normal zombies.
The soldiers aimed their guns and shot the normal zombies. Meanwhile, Sigurd charged towards the Tank-type zombie without fear.
His reckless behavior stunned the engineers and architects. They didn't think that he would actually fight the Tank-type zombie using a sword.
"That thing looks powerful! Why not use his gun to kill it?" The people behind remarked.
Arlan chuckled when he heard their comments. "That guy is the strongest soldier in our camp. The Tank-type zombie might be strong, but compared to Sigurd, it is nothing. Besides, that zombie would be a good specimen for our lab. It would be a pity to destroy its corpse." He shook his head.
The engineers and architects were surprised by his words.
At this moment, Sigurd had already pounced at the Tank-type zombie. He raised his sword and swung it horizontally, aiming to cut off its head.
Roaaarrrr!!!
The Tank-type zombie already sensed Sigurd before he even got close. It instinctively raised its arms to block its head.
Puchi!
A gnarly cut appeared on its arms after receiving Sigurd's slash. The wound also provoked its rage and it roared furiously.
Sigurd remained calm at the zombie's aggression. He effortlessly evaded its attacks.
The Tank-type zombie was strong, but its movements were slow and predictable. As long as one was careful, they could evade it.
Sigurd didn't want to prolong the fight. After evading the Tank-type zombie's punch, he swung his sword and cleanly cut off its head.
"What the hell?!" The people behind Arlan were gobsmacked when they witnessed Sigurd's might. He was even scarier than the Tank-type zombie!
Soon, the normal zombies were also eliminated by Sigurd's subordinates.
"What do you think? Can you make the defensive structures now?" Arlan asked while grinning at them.
Although the battle wasn't long, they had seen the power of the Tank-type zombie. Its punch was capable of penetrating concrete walls and even normal metal structures were useless against it.
"We'll do our best." They answered with serious gazes. The importance of this project made them feel pressured. They knew that Arlan was planning to build a residential zone in this area so it was necessary to build a strong defensive structure to ensure the safety of the people.
"Good." Arlan was pleased by their reply. He then asked five soldiers to escort them back to the temporary camp.
After they left, the cleanup resumed. No unique zombies were found so the process was very easy for the soldiers. They only had to expend some ammunition to clear out a large region.
The cleanup took three days and the team of engineers and architects soon started making the defensive structures for the residential area. Construction workers were sent to Catanduanes from Last City to work on the residential project. Additionally, 2000 soldiers, 5 battle tanks, and 5 Black Dragon Assault Helicopters were also stationed at the construction site to protect the workers from possible attacks.
Arlan's task concluded so he returned to Last City with Sigurd and his personal guards. He also asked Karl and Rex De Guzman to oversee the project.
After inviting the De Guzman Family and the Montefalco Family to move over to Last City, he placed them in important positions. He couldn't govern the territory all by himself so he needed these talented people to help him with governance issues.
Five days after his return to Last City, Arlan decided to call Morgan Stan and the others. Last time, he asked them to warn their country's leaders about the possibility of a zombie virus. He hadn't seen those guys since then so he was worried about their safety. Luckily, the internet was still working in their countries and he managed to connect with them. The first person he called was Peter Bacari who was a citizen of France.
"Hello, Peter! How are you?" Arlan asked while looking at the screen of his phone.
"I'm fine." Peter Bacari forced out a smile.
When Arlan saw his expression, he furrowed his eyebrows. "What's going on? Why do you look so tired?"
Hearing this, Peter Bacari sighed and shook his head. "I followed your advice and told the French government about the zombie virus. We managed to prepare before the virus spread and more than half of our population was relocated to safe areas. However, many talented people were infected with the virus so I had no choice but to help in managing the shelters."
Arlan was a bit regretful when he heard this. He wanted Peter to stay in his territory. The guy was a great leader so his presence could relieve some of his worries, but it was impossible now. He chatted briefly with Peter before he ended the call.
After his conversation with Peter, Arlan sighed. He didn't know if he could still meet the guy. Peter was a good guy and despite their differences, they had become friends.
Arlan also called Morgan Stan and a few others, but they also had similar situations. Among them, only Matsushima Moro, the former CEO of Mazda, returned to Last City. He also brought his family and relatives with him.
The reason why Matsushima Moro came back was because he was aware of Arlan's power. Before the zombie virus outbreak, Arlan asked them to build flying cars. At first, he thought that the flying car would be used to expand Mazda. However, the zombie virus suddenly spread when they were planning to sell the flying cars in the market. It was too coincidental which made him believe that Arlan had another purpose for the flying cars. For instance, making it a new transportation vehicle in this zombie-infested world.
The flying car would be an extremely valuable asset in this apocalyptic world since it could ensure the safety of the passengers. Zombies could not fly and the flying car uses a technology that doesn't require a lot of energy to operate. Furthermore, Mazda managed to build thousands of them before the outbreak!
Matsushima didn't even hesitate when Arlan told him to bring his family to Last City. Although Japan also managed to prevent disastrous losses, he believed that following Arlan would be safer. This belief became firmer when he saw Last City.
Back to the present, Arlan was dispirited after calling his foreigner friends. All of them were highly valued by their countries and he also didn't want to force them to come to him. The only good thing was that Matsushima Moro decided to stay in Last City. The guy was the former CEO of Mazda and he was experienced in management. Together with the elites of the De Guzman Family and the Montefalco Family, they served as important figures in his territory. He could leave the territorial matters to them and he only needed to worry about looking for a cure for the zombie virus.
The next day, Arlan boarded a helicopter and flew to the construction site in Catanduanes together with his assistant, Krizia Rosalez.
"Boss, why do you look so stressed?" Krizia asked when she saw Arlan's gloomy face.
Arlan forced out a smile and shook his head. The conversations with his foreigner friends were still in his mind. "It's nothing. There's no need to worry."
Krizia didn't ask again after hearing his words. She took out a document from the folder she was holding and said. "This is the latest report sent by Mr. De Guzman."
Arlan cleared his thoughts and took the document from her. The progress of the construction was reported in detail and there were also pictures of the construction site.
