Chapter 140: Refugees Blocking The Road

A week later, the harvesting of the grain fields was completed.

The Shu food store made a killing by buying at a low price and reselling at a higher price.

Shu Yuanwei was exceptionally pleased as he counted the bills. He recalled that Shu Xian’s factory seemed to have encountered some trouble recently. His eyes darted around as he dialed Shu Xian’s number. After learning that he was drinking alone at home, he immediately said, “Wait for me! I’ll go over and have a drink with you now!”

Eager to show off, Shu Yuanwei carried two bottles of good wine and headed to the villa district in his fur coat.

Outside the gate of the villa area, refugees and beggars from other places were gathered in front of the greenery by the road. When they saw Shu Yuanwei, their eyes lit up and they ran over. They blocked Shu Yuanwei’s path and clasped their hands together, begging, “Please show mercy!”

“We haven’t eaten in days!”

“Please show some charity and let us fill our stomachs…”

The beggars and refugees’ clothes were tattered and their bodies exuded an unpleasant smell. This made Shu Yuanwei take two steps back in disgust. He pinched his nose and waved his hand. “Get lost, a good dog knows not to block the way! Get lost, don’t ruin my good mood!”

Shu Yuanwei wanted to walk forward, but a female refugee mustered up the courage to hug his calf. Her dirty face was filled with despair.

“Please give us something to eat. Our child is still young and hasn’t eaten for a few days.”

“He’ll die if he keeps starving like this.”

In front of a trash can by the side of the road, a skinny child was wrapped in tattered clothes. He looked to be about two or three years old. His skin was sallow and his breathing was slow. He looked like he was sick. Shu Yuanwei did not show any sympathy. He lifted his leg and kicked the woman, cursing as he dusted off his leg. “How unlucky.”

“You dirtied my clothes. My pants are very expensive, can you afford to compensate me?”

Another refugee, who looked like the woman’s husband, saw Shu Yuanwei’s vicious actions. He hurriedly rushed to her side and stared at Shu Yuanwei venomously, wanting to snatch the good wine and roasted chicken from his hands.

But they were refugees and their bodies were weak. How could they be a match for Shu Yuanwei?

Shu Yuanwei suddenly lifted his leg and kicked the man’s arm. He cursed as he continued to hit him. “You bunch of trash should just die!”

“You even dare to come to this villa district? Do you know where this is?”

“You all smell so bad. You are just a bunch of foreign dogs. You should have been kept outside. Even if you die, don’t come to our doorsteps to die. You’re an eyesore!”

Shu Yuanwei continued to beat up the refugee. The woman cried and begged him to have mercy, but he had no intention of stopping.

Qiu Tong had just returned from the kindergarten to fetch the children when she happened to pass by and saw the scene. She frowned and shouted. “Stop!”

“Who do you think you are? I can hit whoever I want. Why are you stop me?”

Beads of sweat formed on Shu Yuanwei’s forehead. He rolled up his sleeves, wanting to make a move on Qiu Tong. However, just as his arm was about to reach her, Qiu Tong grabbed his wrist and twisted it downwards forcefully. The clear sound of bones breaking could be heard.

“Ouch, it hurts!”

Shu Yuanwei wailed and squatted down. He kept trying to smack away Qiu Tong’s hand, but still stubbornly said, “Stop being a busybody!”

“Let go of me. I didn’t provoke you…”

Qiu Tong narrowed her eyes. She didn’t want to be entangled with Shu Yuanwei any longer, so she let go of him and dusted off her hands in disgust. “Leave now!”
