Detoxification (3)

Even after being awake for some time and getting a fresh bath, Mu Mingtang still felt sleepy as she sat in front of the dressing table and leaned on it with closed eyes, letting the maid comb her hair.

“Princess, do you like the cloud bun today?” After inserting the last hairpin, the maid asked Mu Mingtang.

Mu Mingtang opened her eyes reluctantly after she heard the maid’s question and checked her hairstyle from the round mirror that was being held by the maid standing behind her and the front mirror on the dressing table. She could see both the front and back views of the hairstyle as she looked from two mirrors. Her long hair was twisted into a bun shaped like a rolling cloud.

The golden hair pin, gems, pearls and tassels added an elegant look to it. Mu Mingtang was very satisfied with her charming look and nodded. “Not bad. Reward.”

The maid immediately responded with a smile. After Mu Mingtang finished dressing up, she moved to the dining room.

Xie Xuanchen had been waiting here for a long time, and when he saw her coming in, he greeted her with a warm smile: “You’re finally here. Breakfast has been set. Let’s eat first.”

Mu Mingtang was very satisfied with today’s looks, but when she felt that Xie Xuanchen didn’t notice any difference, she could not help feeling a little annoyed: “Didn’t you notice anything different about me today?”

Xie Xuanchen looked at Mu Mingtang for a while but couldn’t tell the difference. He cautiously asked: “What’s the difference?”

“Hair bun.” Mu Mingtang moved her neck slightly, making the tassel at the end of the bun sway slightly. “I changed my hairstyle today, and you didn’t even say how I look!”

‘Oh~ that…’ Xie Xuanchen heaved a helpless sigh. He almost thought something bad had happened to Mu Mingtang.

“You’ve always been good-looking, and this bun is only looking beautiful because it is adored on you. Why should I pay special attention to it?”

Mu Mingtang was completely convinced and gave him a sideways glance, trying to hide her smile. “You’re talking nonsense. Hmph, I won’t argue with you today.”

The maids following behind her remained silent.

As Mu Mingtang and Xie Xuanchen both sat down, the maids hurriedly served food. The palace had regulations for breakfast, and the food needed to be served at several intervals. Fruits, melons, etc. were the first to be served.

One of the maids stood near Mu Mingtang and said, “Princess, these are the freshly ripped cherries for this year. They had just come out in the market, so I went out first thing in the morning to buy them.”

As the maid said, Mu Mingtang could see that the cherries placed on a plate with cracked ice were bright red and they were indescribably beautiful.

Mu Mingtang happily looked at the juicy cherries, and suddenly came up with an idea and subconsciously looked at her husband.

When Xie Xuanchen felt his wife’s gaze, he quickly raised his head and saw that Mu Mingtang was looking at him with a slightly strange expression. It seemed that she was trying to convey something to him.

Xie Xuanchen was really not very good at guessing Mu Mingtang’s hints. So, he looked deeply into Mu Mingtang’s eyes to understand the meaning behind her gaze, but failed.

As maids were around, Xie Xuanchen pretended to ask casually: “What’s the matter? Are the cherries not to your taste?”

Mu Mingtang rolled her eyes inwardly. ‘I hadn’t tasted a single cherry yet. How would I know?’ Mu Mingtang gave up. The tacit understanding between the two of them was terribly low.

Mu Mingtang sighed helplessly and cooperated with Xie Xuanchen: “No, although the cherries have come out a bit earlier this year, they all smell very fresh.”

Xie Xuanchen became more and more confused when he heard it, and couldn’t help asking: “Do cherries have a fragrance?”

Mu Mingtang was trying to give him a hint, and when she heard his words, she gave him a hard look: “Of course! Can’t you smell it?”
