Chapter 185: Are you done? Then It’s My Turn

Grand Xia’s rise... is inevitable, thought Ji Congyun as he tried to repress the shock in his heart.

He quickly readjusted himself, and his demeanor shifted completely. He smiled, clasped his hands, and said, “Divine General Fang, your arrival today is timely. I have already reached a consensus with the envoys of the three empires, Tiankun, Hongri, and Yingcang. Grand Xia indeed has the qualifications to be an eighth-tier empire.”

The expressions of everyone kept shifting back and forth. This outcome had caught them off guard, none of them had expected it to play out in this way. This was an outcome that didn’t sit well with them. After all, what qualifications did Grand Xia have to join the ranks of eighth-tiers? But in the end, they dared not give their dissatisfaction voice.

Song Yi’s face was particularly pale.

Even Ji Congyun had shown signs of yielding. Would the Ji Family be able to protect him today?

“Ji Family Head, this wasn’t the conclusion we came up with after our discussions. You’re not intimidated by their antics, are you?” said the Returning Essence Qi martial artist from the Yingcang Empire, slowly, his gaze icy as he turned his attention to Fang Chen. “Grand Xia couldn’t even defeat Qingsong in the past, so how can it have what it takes to become an eighth-tier empire? The eighth tier is for the strong, not for cowards who were barely able to survive. The strength of the empire has to be reflected as a whole, not based on a single Longevity Qi martial artist that they have recruited. If that wasn’t the case, then the title of eighth-tier would be too cheap.”

The words of the Returning Essence Qi Stage martial artist from the Yingcang Empire made everyone from the Frost Water Empire feel relieved, and more importantly, proud. They cast contemptuous glances at Fang Chen and the others.

Ji Congyun’s face stiffened slightly. To persuade the Yingcang Empire, the Tiankun Empire, and the Hongri Empire to help attack Grand Xia, he and the emperor had deliberately not informed them of the existence of immortals. That was to scratch off the possibility of them fleeing in fear. Since the Returning Essence Qi martial artist from the Yingcang Empire had never encountered immortal cultivators before, he didn’t realize that what Ancestor Xia Yu had displayed was an immortal technique, not a martial artist’s technique....

“Why aren’t you saying anything?” The Returning Essence Qi martial artist from Yingcang Empire looked at Fang Chen and sneered, his mouth curved with a hint of contempt. “Defeated scum.”

Ancestor Xia Yu turned furious, and Li Daoye began to roll up his sleeves. When Li Daoye saw how cocky the other side was, he knew that there was no way in hell Fang Chen was leaving them alive.

“What’s your name?” asked Fang Chen with a thin smile.

“Zhengye Hao Nan!” The other party looked proud. “In the Zhengye family, we have two Longevity Qi Stage ancestors.

Whispers spread among the crowd.

“Two Longevity Qi ancestors?!”

“No wonder he’s so arrogant.”

“Grand Xia should be afraid now. They have at most two Longevity Qi martial artists, while our four empires combined have enough to slaughter Grand Xia!”

There was hope in Song Yi’s eyes again. If the Yingcang Empire was willing to take action, they might be able to suppress Fang Chen while he was here.

Fang Chen smiled. “In the Yingcang Empire, there are three major families: Baqi, Duanwu, and Zhengye. Among the three, your family is the weakest, and you primarily work together with Duanwu to assist Baqi, right?”

Zhengye Hao Nan’s eyes squinted slightly. “It seems you’ve investigated my empire.”

Fang Chen smiled. “That’s right. Originally, I was naive and thought that in the conflict between lower empires, if the upper empire stepped in, some balance would be restored. After all, Grand Xia used to be a vassal of the Frost Water Empire, paying tribute every year. But in the Battle of Three World Mountain, Frost Water Empire seemed to become both blind and deaf, letting Yingcang Empire meddle in without any reaction,” he said. “It was only then that I came to realize that there are some things that you can only rely on yourself to do.”

Ji Congyun’s face remained unchanged, but Ji Lengxing and the others looked strange. A certain agreement had been reached between the Frost Water Empire and the Yingcang Empire on that matter.

To be frank, Grand Xia was sold out by the Frost Water Empire...

Suddenly, the swordsman behind Zhengye Hao Nan sneered. “Why is a loser running his mouth around here? I dare you to fight me again. If you lose once more, go back to your Grand Xia and never mention that you want to become an eighth-tier empire again! Simply because Grand Xia is not worthy!”

All eyes fell on him, somewhat puzzled. Who was that?

Ancestor Xia Yu and the others looked a bit strange. If they were right, that swordsman was the one who intervened in the battle of Three World Mountain, helping Qingsong win that battle, which led to the loss of six hundred thousand souls for Grand Xia.

“Yes, that’s right.” Zhengye Hao Nan smiled slightly. “I almost forgot about that matter.” He began to introduce him. “Everyone, this is Zhengye Ying Gui, an outstanding junior of the Zhengye Family. Five years ago, at the age of sixteen, he had already reached the Vajra Qi Stage. He was the one sent from our family to the battle of Three World Mountain, the one who defeated the so-called ‘Divine General’ of Grand Xia,” he said. “ Now he is at the peak of the Vajra Qi Stage and is about to advance to the Innate Qi Stage!”

Everyone gasped.

Sixteen-year-old Vajra Qi Stage?

Now, at the age of twenty-one, he was at the peak of the Vajra Qi Stage and would soon step into the Innate Qi Stage. At his rate, he would reach the Returning Essence Qi Stage by his forties or fifties. He even had the potential to become a Longevity Qi martial artist in the future!

Zhengye Ying Gui smiled proudly, slowly walked in front of Fang Chen, drew the short sword from his waist, and said indifferently, “Do you dare fight me?”

There was a thin smile on Zhao Yan. “My lord, leave him to me.”

Zhengye Ying Gui couldn’t help but sneer. “You are in the Longevity Qi Stage, why should I fight you? Bullying those with weaker cultivation is not something the strong ought to do.”

Xu Ge couldn’t help but curse. “You’re ridiculous. Weren’t you bullying the weak with your strength when you intervened in the battle of Three World Mountain?”

Zhengye Ying Gui smiled arrogantly. “I was only sixteen at the time, two years younger than Fang Chen. It’s not the same.”

Fang Chen smiled, gesturing for Zhao Yan and Xu Ge to be quiet. “Alright, don’t waste any more time.” Then he walked slowly toward Zhengye Ying Gui. “I’ve been waiting for this day for several years.”

“Is that so?” Zhengye Ying Gui laughed loudly. “Then let’s get started.”

His majestic Vajra Qi surged as both swords came out together. Within a split second, everyone saw two extremely sharp and blazing swords descending like lightning toward Fang Chen.

Five years ago, Fang Chen was defeated by that move. Now, five years later, Zhengye Ying Gui was still confident that Fang Chen would fall before it!

On the sidelines, Zhengye Hao Nan nodded slightly. He was very confident. He couldn’t help but admire his junior’s attainments with the sword.

He failed to notice that Ji Congyun’s expression had turned a little weird. Looks like that junior of the Zhengye Family was going to sacrifice himself heroically today.

“Same move again.” Fang Chen smiled. He didn’t move and allowed the sword light to fall on him.

Boom!

Everyone fixed their eyes on it but found that his sword light was annihilated by some unknown force. Not to mention injuring Fang Chen, not even a single strand of his hair was broken!

“Impossible!”

There was a hint of disbelief in Zhengye Ying Gui’s eyes. He swung the sword again, but the result was the same as before. Fang Chen was unharmed!

“This is impossible!” roared Zhengye Ying Gui, continuously slashing with his sword. The sword lights fell on Fang Chen one after the other, but after more than ten breaths, Zhengye Ying Gui’s Vajra Qi had been depleted by more than half. Yet, he found that he couldn’t hurt Fang Chen at all. He took a few steps back in disbelief

A smile hung on Fang Chen’s face. “Are you done? Then it’s my turn.”
