Chapter 251: Sending Buddhas to the West
"Zhu Yue, it seems that the trouble with the Qingzhou Sword Sect has been resolved. If there's nothing else, the two of us will take our leave," said the Spirit Void Sect Master with a sheepish smile.
The Master of the Flying Eagle Gate remained silent, but he seemed wary. He was on guard as he looked at Fang Chen.
"I thought that with our relationship, you wouldn't be swayed by the Qingzhou Sword Sect. But what happened today has disappointed me greatly," said Abbess Zhu Yue, her gaze icy.
The Spirit Void Sect Master’s expression changed. "Zhu Yue, you’ve misunderstood us. We did what we did so that your Concealed Moon Hermitage doesn’t suffer in the Flame Empire in the future,” he said. “Just think about it; the head of the Qingzhou Sword Sect is at the mid-stage of the Foundation Building Realm, so even the Foundation Building Realm Elders of the Southern Heavenly Sect would have to show him respect. If the Concealed Moon Hermitage has a complete fallout with the Qingzhou Sword Sect, would you still be able to survive in the Flame Empire?"
The Flying Eagle Gate Master butted into the conversation there, saying, "Zhu Yue, we really hope you understand."
Abbess Zhu Yue didn’t comment on that and only asked, "If the Qingzhou Sword Sect makes a move on my Concealed Moon Hermitage, what will you two do?"
The two's expressions changed drastically, knowing that a careless answer could bring disaster upon them!
After careful consideration, the Spirit Void Sect Master opened his mouth. "Do I need to say it? We will naturally take your side no matter what happens!"
The Flying Eagle Gate Master nodded. "Indeed.”
Abbess Zhu Yue turned to Fang Chen. "Young Master Fang, we need to nip all threats in the bud. I'll take care of the Spirit Void Sect Master, and you help me with the Flying Eagle Gate Master.”
As soon as these words hit the ears of the two sect masters, they were shaken to their cores. The Spirit Void Sect Master angrily retorted, "Zhu Yue, don’t you care one bit about our past relationship?"
The Master of the Flying Eagle Gate didn’t utter a single word and went on the defensive, guarding against Fang Chen. He had seen how Fang Chen had slew Yao Dan, and he suspected that it was highly likely that Fang Chen was a sword cultivator!
"Relationship? We might’ve had one before. What happened today has shown me that it is you who don’t care about our so-called friendship.” Abbess Zhu Yue sneered coldly. Suddenly, her spiritual energy surged from within her, and a horsetail whisk made from her water element spiritual energy appeared in the void, sweeping toward the Spirit Void Sect Master.
The Spirit Void Sect Master retreated a hundred feet back. She still had a chance, as long as she could survive under Zhu Yue's hands and find an opportunity to escape, she could make it out of here alive. On the other hand, the Flying Eagle Gate Master’s chances were very slim.
Seeing the two getting farther and farther away, the Flying Eagle Gate Master looked at Fang Chen with a wry smile. "Friend, there's no enmity between us. Could you leave me a way out? Otherwise, karma will be created, and it won't be good if we encounter Tribulations and Calamities in the future."
"We’ve both only scratched the surface of the immortal path, so why talk of Tribulations and Calamities? We should only follow our hearts. As long as you have a clear conscience, then everything else doesn’t matter,” said Fang Chen, smiling lightly.
Heeding Fang Chen’s command, Little Sword took action.
The Flying Eagle Gate Master fought desperately, using all kinds of trump cards. He was at his wit's end, to the point where he even resorted to sacrificing his spiritual weapons, however, it didn’t matter, he still perished after only twenty breaths.
When the nuns of the Concealed Moon Hermitage witnessed this scene, their eyes sparked with awe as they stared at Fang Chen. Even their Abbess couldn't deal with an expert in the same cultivation stage in such a casual manner!
Abbess Qing He sighed with emotion. “Lord Fang’s progress in cultivation is extremely terrifying."
Seeing that Abbess Zhu Yue was still fighting the Spirit Void Sect Master, Fang Chen went to pick up the spoils of his battle—two storage rings. One belonged to Yao Dan and the other to the Flying Eagle Gate Master.
As for the many treasures that had been carried by the disciples of the Qingzhou Sword Sect, Fang Chen decided to keep them as is until Abbess Zhu Yue finished her fight. Yao Dan's storage ring contained more than two hundred spirit stones and a treasure with sixteen Soul Imprints. As for the Master of the Flying Eagle Gate, there were over a hundred spirit stones in his, along with many spiritual herbs and medicines. Although his treasures had already been damaged in their fight, it didn’t really matter as Fang Chen fed them to Little Sword. After eating, instead of being content with what it had received, Little Sword set its sights on the other treasures scattered around.
Fang Chen smiled. "Don't worry, we haven't divided the spoils yet. Go back and have some rest for now."
Returning to Fang Chen’s body, Little Sword began to peacefully digest the treasures it had consumed. Fang Chen could clearly feel Little Sword's aura slowly bolstering, and as it grew stronger, his physical body, in its fused state with the sword, also became tougher!
This must be the state called 'sword body' by sword cultivators. No wonder that even though sword cultivators have shorter lifespans on average compared to ordinary cultivators, countless people are still eager to pursue this path, thought Fang Chen.
The benefits of the sword body were self-evident, one of which was the Sword Transformation Technique.
Cultivators were still of flesh and blood. Without their spiritual energy, they were as vulnerable as any mortal. However, this wasn’t absolute. If one practiced special body refining techniques, the fleshly bodies of cultivators could become tougher and more resilient.
But the path of body refinement was even rarer than sword cultivation, not because the techniques themselves were scarce, but because no cultivator was willing to waste their spiritual energy on tempering their physical body. Simply put, refining the body without strengthening their spiritual energy would result in their cultivation becoming stagnant. After all, how could one condense immortal veins without sufficient spiritual energy? Not to mention that in order to advance to the higher realms of cultivation, such as the Foundation Building Realm, Golden Core, and Nascent Soul, one would require an extremely vast amount of spiritual energy to act as a foundation for their breakthrough.
But a sword cultivator was different—their sword body allowed them to have a body that was not in any way weaker than a body refining cultivator; in terms of defense and offense, they were unmatched....
As long as Little Sword consumes more treasures, it can become stronger. If there were enough spiritual materials, or even if I could find a spiritual mine for it, then....
Excitement flickered in Fang Chen's heart. By feeding Little Sword large amounts of treasures, he could not only enhance its strength but also improve the power of his sword body. This would help him vastly surpass the strength of cultivators at the same level.
Abbess Zhu Yue and the Spirit Void Sect Master went further and further into the distance as their fight continued, to the point where Abbess Qing He and the other nuns could no longer see them.
"I hope nothing happens to Master, Lord Fang," murmured Abbess.
Fang Chen reassured her with a smile. "Your master is wise and calculated. Since she took action, she must have at least an eighty percent chance of victory."
Abbess Qing He and the others finally breathed a sigh of relief when they heard Fang Chen’s words.
Finally, after nearly half an hour, Abbess Zhu Yue returned. Her body was stained with blood. Some of the wounds she had sustained were so deep that one could see the bone, but she didn’t so much as flinch in pain, as if she had lost all sensation.
"The Spirit Void Sect Master detonated one of her spiritual weapons and managed to escape," she said.
Glancing at the Flying Eagle Gate Master’s body, Abbess Zhu Yue’s face turned a little ashamed. Fang Chen, the junior, had managed to deal with Yao Dan and the Flying Eagle Gate Master, while she had been injured by the Spirit Void Sect Master and failed to capture her. She really couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.
"How far is the Spirit Void Sect from here?" asked Fang Chen.
Abbess Zhu Yue shook her head slightly. "She won't be going back anytime soon."
Fang Chen chuckled. "But her sect won’t run away. It might as well go and pilfer a few treasures or spiritual mines from them."
Abbess Zhu Yue was briefly taken aback but then nodded after a moment of contemplation. "I'll show you the way when the time comes."
Subsequently, the two divided the remaining items. Fang Chen's storage ring now contained a few more low-quality spiritual treasures that would act as some nice snacks for Little Sword. He decided to keep the extra storage rings for the time being, as they might come in handy in the future.
Currently, Fang Chen's storage ring held nearly 1800 spirit stones, four low-quality spiritual treasures, two Green Jade Lotus seeds, and various common spiritual herbs and plants.
