Bart is a Level Two° human that is part of the Blue Wave faction. Currently, he is acting as the captain of this 8 man group that monitors a certain level two zombie. The task of their group was to report any unusual movement done by the zombie in a short period of time.
Although the Blue Wave Faction has several Level Two humans among them, they aren't that many either. Including the boss, they only have 9.
Once a human reaches Level Two, increasing the strength will become very troublesome. In order for them to increase their strength, they would need to absorb the sticky greenish liquid inside a level two zombie's head.
Level Two° zombies are pretty troublesome to kill. Not only would they attract more attention, but they would also become even smarter as the fight drags on.
That's why they need to monitor a level two zombie for a few days. Tracking its movements, the pattern of attacks, habits, etc.
Only then would they report back to the base to prepare for the operation. They would need to kill the Level Two° quickly before it could attract any more attention.
However, earlier, the zombie actually accidentally slips their surveillance. They only managed to locate it when an escaping member of the opposite faction encountered them.
Bart didn't expect that the moment they arrived, the scene they would be seeing is the level two zombie's body, getting cut into pieces by a man.
With arms crossed on his chest, Bart turned towards his two most talkative members. "Elisar is right. We're pursuing him because he killed the zombie we were monitoring. However, don't get me wrong. That man just solo killed a level two zombie before it could attract any more attention. We don't want to make enemies with him. In fact, if possible, we should get on his good side and make him our ally… If the bossman is here... the bossman would surely agree with my idea."
The man beside Elisar was confused so he asked, "Make him our ally? What if he's already a member of the opposite faction?"
Elisar smacked his head, "You're really an idiot, Mariano. Did you see any pink clothing around that man earlier?
"Uhmm… No?"
"Then he isn't a member of the pink faction. Idiot!" Elisar said.
The members of the two factions would mostly wander around the town to search for supplies and weak zombies to kill. As the two factions' quarrel continued to escalate further, the town had become more chaotic. Sometimes, they would mistake their own members for the other faction and would start to quarrel over small things.
That's why, in order to avoid friendly fire, the faction leaders decided to let their members wear a piece of clothing or handkerchief that would act as their faction's trademark.
The Blue Wave Faction leader made the members wear blue colored handkerchiefs or even some torn clothes to act as their trademark or symbol.
The other faction, on the other hand, lets their members wear the pink-colored symbols or trademarks.
Bart shook his head, these two are always like this. They are like cats and dogs, bickering at any opportunity they could find. Mostly though, it's only Elisar teasing Mariano on how dumb he was. He didn't mind it either as they would always tone down their voice to avoid attracting any unwanted attention.
"Let's go back! We need to report this to the bossman!" Bart thought about it and decided to report the situation to the base first. The man who solo-killed the zombie had already gone far by now anyway.
…
In a certain part outside the town, inside a shipping container that was made into a house. A man was being reprimanded by someone who has a higher position than him.
"For fucks sake why did you tell the Blue Wave Faction the location of that Level Two° zombie? What if they managed to kill it and obtain the Apocalypse Virus?"
"Listen here Teryo, right now, the level two° humans of the opposite side were mostly the same in strength. Even the two faction leaders also have the same strength. Now tell me, if the Blue Wave Faction managed to get stronger even by a bit with that Apocalypse Virus they obtained. What would happen to our Pink Surge Faction then?"
The man being reprimanded was the man who luckily escaped the level two zombie earlier. The pink handkerchief wrapped on his elbow had already been stained with blood due to the squabble with the opposite side earlier.
"But, Katrina, would you rather let the level two zombie get stronger by feeding on my comrade's brain? Recently, the town has become even more dangerous. Level two zombies appeared one after another as if they were a common sight." Teryo argued with an annoyed tone.
He just wanted to report what had happened earlier. He never thought he would be reprimanded by telling the opposite faction where the level two zombie was. He just wanted to avoid future trouble, that's all.
"Did you just talk back to me!" Katrina pointed her hand towards Teryo. She's one of the Level Two° humans of the Pink Surge Faction. She didn't imagine that a measly newly evolved Level One° human would talk back to her like that.
Although he does have a point, Katrina was still pissed off about Teryo talking back to her.
"GET OUT!" She pointed towards the wide-open door of the shipping container.
Teryo clicks his tongue and gets out of the shipping container dejected.
During the Apocalyptic World, strength is the only thing that would matter.
He just lost some valuable friends, but he couldn't even complain about it.
Katrina slumped her butt to the wooden chair under her. She pinched her head and pondered for a moment. A while later, she stood up and went outside the shipping container. "Are the reports about the Level Two° zombie in? Yes?"
Katrina clapped her hands and said, "Gather the team, let's set out immediately!"
'If the opposite side killed one Level Two zombie and became stronger, then we should also do the same and kill a Level Two° zombie ourselves to become stronger.'
