The discussion that was held between Eve and Adam this time around was quite a relaxed one.
It was not a back and forth type of conversation. It was just one sided on his part. He would recite his story to her and she would listen. That was the silent agreement they had settled upon.
For Adam, it had really been a while, a great amount of time, since he was able to say absolutely anything and everything to someone without any form of hesitation whatsoever.
ραndαsΝοvεl.cοm It was… well, it was actually hard to say what this feeling was like, he was not able to describe it in words. However, Adam knew that no matter what he said at this moment, Eve, his dear grandmother and family, would not judge him at the moment.
She was so above such mundane things that in a way it felt more like a confession to a priest than anything else to Adam.
Yeah, this must be what those sinners who confessed before the fathers of a church would feel like, Adam thought in his mind.
In the end, he didn't know how long he had been talking but when he was finished with everything, he could feel a weight that he didn't even know existed within him had left his heart for good.
"So you decided to embrace your heritage and become a true king?"
Eve had a calm and serene smile on her face as she asked him the question. Even though she was already more or less aware of pretty much everything about Adam, she still loved to hear him speak and recite his life story to her like this. It gave her the feeling that someone was reading a fairy tale to her as she slept.
This feeling was something that no books inside the Library of Akasha could bring to her. And the Akashic records she held in her hands, which recounted Adam's tale to her in written words could never come close to the stories and speech that Adam relayed to her.
The records were synthetic and monochromatic, it could never bring life into the story as Adam's voice could.
"Well. Honestly speaking, I don't know yet. I wouldn't say that I wanna really embrace my 'heritage' now…"
He made a quote and unquote gesture with his finger as he spoke of his heritage.
"For starters, I don't even know what my heritage is actually. Not like I have met anyone related to me in the short amount of time I have awakened."
"Your siblings."
"Yeah… Siblings. Don't know what I should say about that…"
"Heh. I guess it must be very awkward for you. But do not worry about that. While those children were not born the same way as you and many consider them as nothing but abominations, they are without a doubt your elder brothers and sisters and thus related to you by blood and your family."
"..."
"Though, it is indeed true that some of you might try to kill each other. And for that reason— it isn't like you should trust all of them unconditionally."
Adam was speechless. The way she nonchalantly spoke about the matter of them killing each other was so ludicrous that it was almost funny.
"What? Don't look at me like I am some weirdo now. I am simply used to these things already. Thankfully, all of you guys are immortal in one way or another so killing them will be really hard. Though…"
She mused before wagging a finger before Adam, as though putting a restriction on him that he should not refuse, "I would be happy if you stopped yourself from using 'Death' against your siblings. Well, it is more like a request. So, please, don't use it against your family…"
Eve laughed ever so slightly at the surprised reaction that Adam showed her in response to her words.
While none of Adam's siblings had obtained the True Curse of Cain as he did, and thus did not achieve True Immortality like him, they were all insanely hard individuals to kill and put to rest.
Furthermore, since their souls had already become so powerful already through the passage of time, they were only restricted by the world and nothing else.
In case of their deaths, all of them could become constellations with the power of their souls alone. Not to mention the other forms of power they have honed through the eons of their existence.
Obviously, things changed drastically whenever the power of 'Death' was involved.
The power of 'Death' was truly insidious and it was the only power in all of existence that was able to bring a perfect 'End' to anything and everything… Even the concept of Immortality.
"Even if they attack me?"
"Fights between siblings is far too normal a sight, you know?"
"What if they threaten my loved ones?"
"They won't. Never will they do that, I can guarantee you that. Those little pups are too prideful to do something so humiliating. Though, in the far off chance that they fall low enough to resort to something like that then… you may do with them as you wish."
Her voice was cold and ruthless. While she wished to promote love and friendship between the members of her family, she was not naive either.
Not any longer at least.
And truth be told, out of all of his siblings, only Adam was worthy enough to be called Cain's son and as such her only grandson.
Eve was not hypocritical. She was not an impartial judge or a benevolent Saintess who saw all the world on the equal scales of a judge, She obviously had her favorites and it was evident that she liked none of her grandchildren as much as Adam.
His siblings were already far stronger than him and had lived for far longer. If despite all those boons they still went ahead and used despicable means then… Well, whatever happened would be their own fault and theirs only.
"Now, let's stop speaking about fratricide. As you are now, the chances of you meeting your siblings are rather… few. They are either slumbering in the depths of this mortal world or simply wandering outside of it altogether. But with your growth rate, you will be qualified to meet them really soon."
"I always wondered, how strong are they exactly?"
"Hmm…Well. Let's say that they can deliver death to your body over a hundred times in a single second. All of them have reached their limits and even nearly surpassed them. But they are unable to break through the chains of their cursed fate and ascend to their rightful positions."
A sad smile crossed her face.
After all, they could not fight against the chains of the ever-illusory Fate and could not break the inherent limitations of the defect of their births. This was also an extension of their father's curse.
"But you… You are different."
"Thanks to Genesis?"
"No."
"Thanks to no one but your one self. Your very existence is a miracle and you should be proud of it. You are one of a kind. A singularity."
Her eyes as she looked at him were filled with love, kindness and also hope.
But more than anything… They were filled with absolute confidence.
