1899 A Plot
Only dead people would forget everything.

Shangguan Tong naturally knew what he meant by this. She calmly glanced at the super assassins and tightened her fists. She turned to say softly to Huo Jinfeng at a volume only audible to the two of them, “They are here for me. I will lure them away. Take the chance to run.”

Hearing this, Huo Jinfeng held Shangguan Tong’s arm tightly. “No way. Even if you are leaving, we’re leaving together.

Although he knew nothing of Shangguan Tong’s background, he could not bring himself to allow her to lure the super assassins so that he could escape.

Shangguan Tong could sense his powerful hand on her arm. She could not help feeling sad inside. “You have no chance against them. Let’s not forget Yaoyao is in even greater danger than us.”

If they did not come back to the country in such a hurry and she did not forget about her drugs, she could handle these super assassins effortlessly.

Perhaps this was all a part of Shangguan Hou’s plots.

“Even if I have no chance of winning, I’m not letting you face them alone.” Huo Jinfeng tightened his grip on her arm. He did not stay as the clan leader all these years for nothing. Not the slightest fear could be seen on his face. “So what if they are super assassins? I’m not afraid of them.”

“But…”

Shangguan Tong wanted to say more, but she was interrupted by the sound of clapping.

“I’m so moved by your love.” Shangguan Hou clapped nonchalantly as he smiled ambiguously. He looked at Huo Jinfeng as though he was looking at a mere ant. “You certainly live up to your name, Master Jinfeng. You don’t die easy.”

The moment he finished his sentence, something dawned on Huo Changfeng. He hastily shouted, “You were behind the assassination!”
During this time, they kept trying to find the culprits behind Master Jinfeng’s attack. Even though all evidence pointed to the elders, they had a feeling that there was more to this. From the looks of it, they were spot on.

In hindsight, only Mirage Base could effortlessly clean up all traces of evidence.

“Otherwise, how else could I make Master Jinfeng’s lover show her face?” Shangguan Hou smiled sadly and did not deny his actions. “Then again, you should thank me, right? Considering the clan leader’s personality, she probably would never show up.”

Shangguan Tong clenched her fists so tightly that they nearly dug into her palms. “Shut up.”

“Why? Haven’t you told him about your background?” asked Shangguan Hou curiously in a teasing tone.

Shangguan Tong looked at Shangguan Hou frostily without answering.

“From the moment you went to the Huo family to show me the photo, it was already a plot,” said Huo Jinfeng mildly. He did not ask Shangguan Hou about Shangguan Tong’s background.

“That’s right.” Shangguan Hou was wearing his usual human skin mask. “After all, you are a critical part of entering the clan’s territory. If nothing happens to you, how can we make Shangguan Tong appear? Why else would Shangguan Yu… Oh, I meant your niece… Why else would she save you?”

Shangguan?

Huo Jinfeng went into deep thought. He could already tell Shangguan Tong seemed unexpectedly close to his niece. It seemed as though they had known each other for a long time. Before he could think more deeply about it, Shangguan Hou’s voice could be heard once more.

“I didn’t think you would have mutated A3 subtype blood,” sneered Shangguan Hou softly.

No wonder Shangguan Tong infiltrated Mirage Base to destroy all traces of their research data regarding blood. Also, she misled them to think that she was the one with the special blood type.

“What do you mean?” Huo Jinfeng frowned. He could tell there was more to what Shangguan Hou was saying. He had a vague feeling that it might have something to do with Tong’s disappearance back in the day.
