MMORPG: Crowd Control

Chapter 6 Saint Mars Avenue

For the next few days, Lei Zhen could only stare at the MagnoPod that had taken a large amount of space in his tiny living room.

It wasn't that he couldn't play Magnolia, but because he didn't want to cause another power outage and ruin his other neighbors' lives.

He would not indulge in his own selfish desire while causing harm to others.

Hence, Lei Zhen could only pray that the power generator that he had ordered online would be delivered quickly.

"Sigh, it's been 3 days now." Lei Zhen glanced at his cell phone and checked on the calendar.

"This is why you can't trust online shopping. Even when technology has advanced to an unimaginable height, deliveries are still slow as always."

Just when Lei Zhen was at the edge, his cell phone suddenly rang. It didn't even take him a second to know who had called him.

After all, his phone contact only has one person and that was Shan Lin.

Picking up the cell phone, Lei Zhen asked, "What do you want now, Shan Lin?"

"What do I want? Are you seriously asking me that? What kind of Magnolia player are you? You have only finished your character creation process and haven't logged in since then." Shan Lin was extremely irritated.

He couldn't believe that it was possible for someone to create a Magnolia account, only to abandon it in less than a few minutes.

Meanwhile, Lei Zhen yawned softly as he had heard him repeating the same thing for the past few days.

Unwilling to waste his time on Shan Lin, Lei Zhen simply kept his phone on speaker mode while he continued to read the newspaper.

Newspapers might be old school considering their technological era, but Lei Zhen still found it useful because there are job recruiting listings on it.

pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ 'Hmm, a convenience store is hiring a part-timer, and it's for nighttime. The location is also near the hospital my sister resides in.' Lei Zhen was awestruck to find an extremely suitable part-time job being available.

Not only was the location close to his sister, allowing him to be able to visit her easily, but he could also work at night.

Nighttime usually had the least amount of customers, so Lei Zhen wouldn't need to exhaust himself in the job.

"Let's see their contact number…" He muttered as he quickly memorized the number labeled on the newspaper.

"Hey Lei Zhen, are you even listening to me? Why are you silent the entire time?"

"Oh right, thanks for reminding me."

Just when Shan Lin thought Lei Zhen was going to answer him, the phone signal between them was cut off.

Duuu Duuu Duuu

Shan Lin held a disbelief expression when he realized Lei Zhen had ended the call.

"LEI ZHEN, HOW COULD YOU BE SO HEARTLESS!"

Alas, Lei Zhen would not have the blessing to hear the shouting from Shan Lin since he was busy dialing the phone number.

After a few seconds, the phone connected, and Lei Zhen asked nervously, "H-Hello, are you still hiring a part-timer for the convenience store located in Saint Mars Avenue?"

"Um, yes, we are still hiring. Though we still need to do an interview if you are interested in it." A middle-aged man's voice resounded from the phone.

"Yes, I understand that you'll need to conduct an interview. I have my resume prepared already."ραпdα `nᴏνɐ| сom

"Alright then, you can come to the convenience store now, right?"

After conversing for some more time, Lei Zhen quickly changed his clothes to something suitable as he proceeded to head toward the location for the interview.

Leaving the apartment, Lei Zhen walked toward a nearby train station and waited for the train to arrive.

"Let's see, the train is going to arrive around 5 minutes," he muttered calmly.

Seeing how there was still some time before the train arrived, Lei Zhen decided to use this chance to practice his interview mentally.

Sometime later, the train arrived, and Lei Zhen found an empty seat inside as he waited for his stop.

The train went through 5 different stops before it stopped at Saint Mars Avenue.

Lei Zhen stood up and left the train station as he walked toward the convenience store.

"Magnolia Convenience Store…" Lei Zhen glanced at the store name and realized it was related to Magnolia again.

'When a virtual game became a worldwide sensation, they really weren't kidding.' he thought.

The Magnolia Convenience Store was huge, with many merchandise related to Magnolia being showcased on shelves.

The walls were painted in green colors, but the most mesmerizing part was that each part of the wall was laid with characters- characters from Magnolia.

Lei Zhen admired it for a few more seconds before walking toward the entrance. The entrance had an electronic door sensor, saving him the trouble of pushing the door manually.

Stepping inside, a middle-aged man instantly noticed Lei Zhen.

"Are you the person that we talked to over the phone?" The middle-aged man asked.

Lei Zhen nodded his head.

"Yes, I'm Lei Zhen, and here's my resume paper." He said and handed over the resume for him to see.

"Hmm, have a seat over there, and you can just call me Xu Gen," The middle-aged man, Xu Gen said calmly.

Lei Zhen complied with his words as he took his seat and waited patiently.

In this current modern age, even a convenience store could not be underestimated. Their policy and requirement to earn a job are extremely strict.

Thus, Lei Zhen might not have shown on the surface, but he was currently extremely nervous.

Sometime later, Xu Gen placed the resume down on the counter and glanced at Lei Zhen.

He was looking at him with a funny expression, almost like he couldn't comprehend Lei Zhen.

"From your resume, it was stated that you used to work as a resident student, so how come you are seeking a part-time job in our Magnolia Convenience Store." Xu Gen asked.

Lei Zhen held a bittersweet smile when heard his question.

Taking a deep breath, Lei Zhen answered stutteringly, "B-Because… I was not adept nor familiar with the game, Magnolia."
