"Bloody Barrier!!"
Everyone was in shock.
This fella actually shrank the [Bloody Barrier] and placed it on itself! On top of that, the [Bloody Barrier] turned into an invincible defence, blocking all of the attacks.
Just then, Harriot flipped his sword to slice at Wang Yu from the left to the right.
"F*ck!" Wang Yu, whose sword felt like it had stabbed at a rock, exclaimed before jumping backwards repeatedly to dodge Harriot’s sword. He ended up with the rest of the group.
After placing the barrier on itself, this shameless boss could still move and slash at others... Thankfully with the barrier over it, the sword of judgement lost its ability to release sword qi. Otherwise, even Wang Yu might not have been able to dodge that surprise attack.
Harriot, with the invincible barrier covering itself, was no longer accessible to them, other than through the opening in the [Bloody Barrier] above its head.
However, the shrunken version of the [Bloody Barrier] was too small. Even if the most skilled Archer, Yang Nuo, used a longbow instead of her usual bow, it was impossible to get a shot in.
At this moment, the only way they could hit Harriot was using Ming Du’s lightning.
But as lightning skills were not targetable skills, no matter how well Ming Du could predict Harriot’s movement, it would be too difficult to hit as it was agile and moved unpredictably.
"How much more shameless could this boss get?’ Wang Yu shouted while wiping away his cold sweat.
The members in the party didn’t say anything, but Harriot used its actions to tell Wang Yu that he could do it!
Backing up by a step, Harriot went out of Ming Du’s attack range and kept the sword of judgement in its hands. It raised its hands to the sky and the red prayer beads were activated once more. Countless red energy balls appeared above everyone.
Harriot clasped his hands together, sending the energy balls raining down from above, which forced the party back by many metres. It continued attacking relentlessly, sending wave after wave of spells down as it walked forward. This pushed everyone back by a large margin.
"Brother Spring, where’s that spell you used to break its barrier? Use it on him!" Vainglory frantically raored.
Spring Halo quickly replied: "Use it my ass! That skill has a long cast time and has a low speed. If it could dodge Ming Du’s lightning, it will definitely dodge my skill."
Turning around, he added on: "If we could stop the boss’s movements, that would be great..."
The rest of the party murmured to themselves: "Cheh... What a joke."
Restricting a boss’s movement was something only tanks could do. With the current rain of energy balls in front of Harriot, tanks would not be able to approach it, and even if they could, there was the [Bloody Barrier] on it, so it wasn’t afraid of being crowd controlled at all. Who could do anything to it?
Ming Du cursed: "Pui, you’re spouting nonsense... If we could stop it, do we even need your help? I can kill it with strikes of my lightning!"
"If he didn’t have that [Bloody Barrier], I could even hack it to death with my sword!" The others chipped in.
Just then, Wang Yu suddenly asked Spring Halo: "So we just have to stop it from moving?"
"Yes!" Spring Halo nodded his head. "Can Brother Iron Bull do it?"
"I’ll try!" Wang Yu was confident but he didn’t dare to give any guarantees. After all, the game’s system was too shameless. Who knew what kind of tricks this fella still had up its sleeve.
Once he finished speaking, Wang Yu charged straight at Harriot. Upon seeing that, Harriot directed all of the energy balls at him with a wave of its hands.
"My god, what is God Bull doing?" Little One asked with his mouth open.
Fearless explained: "He’s showing off his skill!"
At this moment, Wang Yu began moving with the Seven Star Steps, dodging left and right as though as he had created clones of himself. Without stopping, he speedily passed through the area with the energy balls and came in front of Harriot.
When Wang Yu closed the gap between them, Harriot immediately drew the sword of judgement and swung it downwards at Wang Yu’s head.
Without hesitation, Wang Yu drew a long sword with his right hand and pressed it against Harriot’s sword of judgement, reducing its power. After which, his left hand drew out a short blade which pushed the sword of judgement in front of Harriot’s feet, effectively nullifying te attack.
Seeing that its strike was rendered useless and it even almost backfired, Harriot flew into a rage. It roared as it slashed wildly forward with both its hands firmly grasping the sword hilt.
In a half squatting position, Wang Yu turned the long sword in his right hand around and used the handguard to block the blade of Harriot’s sword. Then, he pushed downwards, at the same time slightly brushing the short blade in his left hand against the sword of judgement to cause it to adjust its trajectory. From a sideways slash, it was changed into an upwards slash which almost cut Harriot’s own head as it used too much strength.
Having two consecutive strikes turned against itself utterly angered Harriot. This time, it simply stood at the same spot and slashed at Wang Yu.
However, both swords in Wang Yu’s hands continued to focus on defence and did not strike back at all. Every time, he would barely block or parry the strikes from Harriot.
No matter how high Harriot’s level was, it was pegged to the average level of players that entered the dungeon. As a level 25 boss, its martial arts and spells were very limited and paled in comparison with an actual level 50 boss.
Hence, even though it placed the [Bloody Barrier] over itself, rendering attacks and crowd control, Wang Yu still had some means to keep it in place.
If he couldn’t hit it, he could at least let it hit itself.
The sword technique that Wang Yu was using was named "Lingering Sword" - a defensive dual handed sword style that focused on taking advantage of weaknesses in one’s opponent’s attacking style during battle.
This sword technique had a total of two parts. The first was defence, which was centered around parrying, while the second was attacking, which was centered around quick strikes. Essentially, it was a technique that wasn’t easy to deal with.
When Wang Yu was slightly over 10 years old, he had already grasped the essence of this sword style, thus it was naturally very easy for him to use one of the two parts at this point.
"What... What skill is this?" The few guys from Sanguine Alliance and Basic Numbers Squad were stunned upon seeing Wang Yu keeping Harriot occupied in that manner.
His opponent was a boss, and while this boss seemed to be more of a Magician, there was a difference on 25 levels so how could every strike of its blade deal no damage?
"This is not a skill!" Boson, who was well versed in swordsmanship, explained.
"Then what is it?"
"It’s swordsmanship, it’s martial arts!" Boson’s spoke with a admiration and respect in his voice.
Since a long time ago, Boson had dreamt of becoming a martial arts expert, thus he diligently studied swordsmanship. Yet, due to limited talent, he couldn’t really achieve much. At this moment, watching Wang Yu’s exquisite swordsmanship live made him want to go forward to acknowledge Wang Yu as his master.
"Martial arts?" Everyone was shocked. "You must be kidding, how could there be such things in the word?"
"Er..." Boson became speechless and he carried on while wiping his sweat. "Of course, you can understand this as being skilled in manoeuvring his character..."
"Oh, I understand now..." Sanguine Wall and co finally got it and thought to themselves. "So it’s just control of his character, what martial arts were you talking about... The guys from Quan Zhen Sect are indeed all abnormal."
It seemed like deeper topics of this nature was too much for these shut in gamers, hence some translation to terms familiar to them was required.
