Chapter 854 Four Pillars: The Final Stretch

Chapter 854 Four Pillars: The Final Stretch

"Graagh!!!"

"Aghhh!!!"

'Ten of them… all of them charging at me at every possible angle.' Listening to the various screams the feral humans let out in the middle of the night, Valyr kept his composure at all times as he took a look at the feral humans he was fighting.

After making up his mind on what he needed to do to leave the inheritance as soon as possible, Valyr swiftly got to work as he fought against all of the feral humans that appeared in his vision.

Of course, with access to skills such as the [Four Paths Azure Magic Arts] and [Four Paths Azure Spear Arts], the young man had no problems fighting against multiple of them at once.

Then again, with how he decided to fight against the feral humans at night, Valyr also had the advantage of making use of the darkness to catch his opponents off guard, leading to some kills that wouldn't have normally been possible if it were day.

Though the Azure Energy he made use of definitely gave a heads-up to some of the more keen-eyed among the feral humans, it did not stop Valyr from going on a rampage, slaying enough feral humans to increase his authority by a level in just a half hour.

In the end, it took him just a bit over two hours to finally push his authority level within the Gates of Awakening to 15, letting out a wide sigh of relief as the notification from the system appeared in his mind.

With the matter of his authority level now out of the way, Valyr brought up his current quest to see how many he needed to kill in order for it to be considered complete.

Fortunately, with how much he had already killed to bring his authority level up to where it was, he only needed to kill a number of feral humans that would have normally netted him an additional authority level.

Deciding to accept the repeatable quest one last time, the young man went on a wanton killing spree, with the group of feral humans before him being the final group he needed to kill to successfully complete the quest.

"[Refined Mana Barrier]!"

Whoosh!

Seeing that the feral humans had finally made their move, Valyr activated [Limit Break: Second Verse] to improve his stats before conjuring a barrier of Azure Energy around him.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Unsurprisingly, just like how the barrier held up against the feral humans the first time he made use of it, his current opponents could not pass through the barrier at all.

Watching as most of the force behind their attacks were easily nullified by the barrier blocking them, the feral humans grew incensed, beginning to make use of the skills that they had been given.

In response to that, the young man faintly smiled, summoning the amount of Azure Energy necessary to activate his next skill.

"[Four Paths Azure Magic Arts]."

"[Azure Dragon's Claw]!"

Swoosh!

Extending one of his palms outward as if he were striking someone with it, a large set of claws soon appeared outside the barrier, prompting Valyr to strike at the feral humans with great speed in response.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

With all of the feral humans pouring out all of their anger into the skills they slammed on the barrier, it went without saying that all of them were caught by surprise once a large claw appeared in the periphery of their vision.

Without fail, the group of feral humans had been corralled into one spot, feeling as if their insides turn into mush from the force the claw exerted on them.

While the feral humans were still in the midst of getting over the pain his attack had inflicted on them, Valyr swiftly retrieved the spear from his back as he noticed the group getting ready to attack once more.

Knowing that this would be one of the few opportunities he had to swiftly end the fight, Valyr hastily called upon the Azure Energy slumbering within his body.

"[Four Paths Azure Spear Arts]…"

Then, pointing his trusty spear at the ground, he infused both newly obtained Intents into it as he swung up with all of the strength he could muster.

"[Stampede of the Azure Tiger]!"

Roar!!!

At the very moment everything about the skill clicked into place, the ground surrounding Valyr and the feral humans started to rumble as a large wave of Azure Energy appeared outside the barrier.

Then, in less than an instant, the Azure Energy making up the wave transformed into a near-incessant amount of azure tigers, all of them staring at the feral humans as if they were their prey.

With all of the tigers letting out a roar in unison, all of them began to charge at the feral humans, striking at them with all of the force they could muster.

In response to the azure tiger stampede that set their sights on killing them, the feral humans began to fight back, even going so far as to make use of the skills in their arsenal that had seemingly otherworldly power.

Though, against a stampede of azure tigers that seemed to have no end on their numbers, the feral humans eventually succumbed to their onslaught, eventually breathing out their last as a series of notifications resounded within the young man's mind.

[You have completed part of the requirements for the quest: Gates of Awakening' Trial (5).]

[Kill 500 feral humans (500/500)]

[You have completed the quest: Gates of Awakening' Trial (5).]

[You have been given the ability to enter the Gates of Enlightenment and the Gates of Awakening whenever and wherever you desire.]

[You have been deemed eligible to enter the final sky of the Triad Gates, the Gates of Transcendence.]

[Enter the Gates of Awakening to make your way to the path that leads to this final sky.]

"Huh. Neat." Reading from the notifications that he needed to head to the Gates of Awakening in order to enter the Gates of Transcendence, Valyr felt like he had the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone by making his way to the Realm of Myriad Experiences first.

Making up his mind to head there first before entering the Gates of Transcendence, the young man swiftly conjured a rift that would lead him to ever-familiar courtyard, immediately feeling no difficulty from the action whatsoever.

Faintly smiling at how quickly the rewards from the quest took effect, Valyr made his way into the Gates of Awakening, his thoughts fixated on heading to the Realm of Myriad Experiences.

Yet, before he could even leave the courtyard to enter the cave where it resided, a familiar being had barred his way, looking at him with a faint smile.

"Took you long enough."
