Chapter 873 Four Pillars: Full Circle (2)

By the time Vaughn thought about bringing humanity back to Veldanyr, over 70,000 years had already passed since the end of the Great Cataclysm.

During those 70,000 years, it went without saying that a lot of things had changed on Veldanyr aside from Vaughn.

One of those changes were the many buildings that used to house Veldanyr's humanity in the past.

Due to the inevitable passage of time, many of the buildings beyond the capital city in the past had already eroded.

Partly, it was due to nature's tenacity to reclaim what it rightfully owned.

Mostly, it was due to the Myth-level strength Vaughn was unleashing during the majority of those 70,000 years, the shockwaves his attacks sent out gradually reducing the rigidity of the buildings.

Fortunately, before all of the buildings had eroded for nature to claim once more, Vaughn made use of his Myth-level strength, his ability to enter the deeper parts of the system, as well as the other avenues of power he had picked up along the way to save a small chunk of the capital city.

Of course, that small chunk was none other than the city ruins that could be found in the Four Pillars' Inheritance, even going so far as to grab the underground region that came along with it.

Having grabbed what was considered the sole remaining piece of the past for himself, it could be said that Veldanyr had finally entered a new era, especially with Vaughn holing himself up in the laboratory for the majority of that time.

Around the 15,000 year mark after the end of the Great Cataclysm, some of the beasts that Vaughn used to fight had finally gained self-awareness and sentience, immediately claiming themselves as the rightful owners of Veldanyr.

With that, the beasts began to split themselves into factions composing of their own species, fighting against one another with the strength that was given to them by their bodies and the system.

However, just as the beasts were about to conclude a winner to their fight, a new species had emerged from the underground, revealing themselves to have been slumbering all this time.

Boasting large bodies with wings that gave them the ability to fly, these beings usually commanded great control over their respective elements, calling themselves dragons.

With the strength of the dragons being too overwhelming for the beasts to defend against, the beasts decided to unite under one banner, finally turning into the werebeast race that the new humanity of Veldanyr eventually came to recognize.

For thousands of years, the two sides fought against each other, with each side having their special set of qualities that allowed the two be more or less in stalemate.

Though, as if the planet was considered the center point for chaos to unfold, two new species arose by the time 35,000 years had passed since the Great Cataclysm.

The demons and the elves.

Just like the dragons, the demons had come emerging from the underworld, boasting great intelligence and cunning that surpassed even the humanity from the past.

However, unlike the dragons, the demons seemed to have originated from another place entirely, only appearing at Veldanyr for the sake of a greater motive.

As for the elves, they had arrived from the depths of outer space, fleeing against a grand catastrophe that destroyed their original planet.

Nevertheless, by the time they arrived at Veldanyr, they were able to swiftly adapt to the environment, immediately carving out a piece of land for their own.

Unsurprisingly, the four continued to wage war against one another, covering the entire planet of Veldanyr in turmoil for thousands of years once more.

But unlike the unwavering war against the dragons and the werebeasts, there were a few conclusions that had occurred in the four-sided war.

For one, the demons bowed out from the war after seeing that their numbers were greatly dwindling. Informing the three that their greater motive would only be realized at a future time, the demons left the three to fight against one another, dropping a few hints here and there before they faded into the background.

With the hints the demons had dropped, the elves and the werebeasts had surprisingly banded together to fight against the dragons, forming an armistice as they pushed their common enemy back to where they originally belonged.

The underground.

Though their initial intention was to push the dragons back underground, the three eventually formed a common agreement to have the dragons occupy a small part of the territory.

Then, the remainder of that territory would be shared between the werebeasts and the elves equally, allowing the world of Veldanyr to fall under a period of peace.

That was, until the orcs had arrived.

Similar to the elves, the orcs had appeared on Veldanyr all of a sudden.

Originating from a weird mutation among the werebeasts, the one with the weird mutation was immediately shunned from the werebeasts, sensing that its aura had greatly deviated from what made it into a werebeast.

Feeling great anger at being shunned by the werebeasts, the one with the weird mutation sought out the help of the elves to enact its revenge, only to be declined by the elves as well.

In the end, the one with the weird mutation had taken matters into its own hands, slowly amassing a force that had their roots originate from it through the passing years.

By the time 50,000 years had passed, the one that was shunned from the werebeasts had officially established the orc race, using the force it amassed to wage war against the werebeasts that abandoned it, as well as the elves that immediately declined helping it out.

Though their numbers were small compared to their enemies, the orcs were able to turn the tides to their favor, utilizing their strong inherent nature of combat brought by the original mutation the first one had awakened.

In just a hundred years, the orcs were able to carve a piece of land for their own.

In a thousand years, the orcs were able to expand their territory to around a fifth of the landmass of Veldanyr's largest continent.

By five thousand years, the orcs had shown that they were more or less equal to the werebeasts and the elves that used to rule Veldanyr, finally causing the two latter races to accede and recognize the existence of the orcs.

With that, the three races ruled over the world of Veldanyr for a long time, with only minor skirmishes among their species.

In their minds, they thought that Veldanyr had finally entered a golden age of sorts, an era where their species could finally ascend to greater heights.

Though, that all changed when a singular being had appeared before them, unleashing a power that went far beyond even the strongest among their race.

That being…

Was none other than Vaughn.
