Chapter 879 Four Pillars: Full Circle (8)
Watching humanity fall under the combined might of the three other races once more, the young man felt a bit of pain from watching it, especially with how the sight now reminded him of Earth from his past life.
Nevertheless, his attention swiftly shifted towards Vaughn in the memory, faintly wondering whether the man would do the same thing as he had done many many years ago.
Whoosh!
Surprisingly, rather than leave humanity to fend off for themselves, the man had willingly disabled his system and allowed himself to be captured by the three other races.
At the sight, Valyr's mouth went slightly agape as this moment bridged the missing gap in his mind that connected the memory he was viewing thus far with the memories he had accessed in regards to the First Forger.
Of course, with how the First Forger and Vaughn were the same entity, the large narrative that he had realized before was now complete.
From the Great Cataclysm to the history of Veldanyr that was lost to time, to the Age of Darkness and the subsequent Age of Uprising, Valyr now had a clear picture of how the current Veldanyr came to be.
Because of that thought, he expected that the memory the two of them were viewing would end there, considering that he had a hunch on what happened in between the man's capture and the man's escape.
Yet, what happened instead was that the memory continued to play after that point, showing Valyr how Vaughn had suffered under the hands of the three other races.
Thanks to his earlier bouts of rage, Vaughn was mostly handled between the orcs and the elves, with the werebeasts rarely getting their hands on him.
Though, probably because he was considered the leader that brought humanity to where it was before it all crumbled down, the races treated him far worse than the other humans.
Fortunately, as the years passed, the other races gradually forgot about the status he once held, slowly but surely reducing the hardships he had to face.
Nevertheless, with him having now experienced what the humans of the new age had experienced back when he first abandoned them, Vaughn felt great guilt for what he had done.
At the same time, it reminded him of the other decision he could have taken a long time ago, a decision that could've turned his current situation into a what-if if he had gone with it.
Of course, he knew that he nor anyone else didn't have the ability to change the things that might have happened in the past, so the man swore to himself that he would make sure that the humans would have a better future.
With that, over 40,000 years passed since Vaughn was captured by the other races.
At that point, the man had changed owners multiple times, eventually landing in the hands of an orc that made use of his regenerative abilities to earn a lot of money.
Though the orc earned a lot of money from the man's abilities, that did not stop the orc from treating Vaughn poorly, often locking him in a room that only had a small window to see the outside world.
Seeing the room that he had already seen back in the first memory of the First Forger, Valyr began to smile as he watched the man mutter words to himself in the dark, counting down the days that passed before he would make a world-changing decision.
Bringing the system back.
Now armed with far greater knowledge than before, Valyr now had a different perspective as the memories of the First Forger replayed once more, showing how humanity freed themselves from the orcs with the help of the system.
Sometime later, the humans were able to establish a place that they could call home, officially signaling the start of the Age of Uprising as they freed more and more of the humans that were under the orcs, elves, and the werebeasts.
During this time, Vaughn showed humanity how to forge a weapon, making use of the knowledge he had accumulated thus far to do so.
Then, after a few decades had passed, the first system update arrived, something that the man had already set before he brought the system back.
With everyone's strengths reset, the man showed the latent strength his body contained, reminding Valyr of Operation Hope and the Heralds.
Though, with how much time had passed since then, almost every human alive at that point had a bit of Vaughn's blood in them, giving them greater strength compared to the first generation of humans the man had created.
After that, the man obtained an Ancient class at Rank 1, then forged an artifact with the help of his experience with the system.
He then proceeded through the ranks, eventually arriving at the upper bound of mortality as he established the Zeihardt Sovereignty by wiping out an armada of orcs.
Now under the name of Otto Zeihardt, the man continued to let humanity flourish under his rule, wiping away the existence of the werebeasts once and for all from Veldanyr's largest continent.
At the same time, he was able to make the orcs and elves recognize the strength of the humans through this action.
Though a few more battles followed after that, the Age of Uprising did not last too long, only spanning a total of a thousand years before the three races eventually agreed on an armistice.
With the peace of the human race now secured, the humans were now free to prosper once more, making use of the technology Vaughn had given them to do so.
That was also the reason why the Age of Innovation was given that name, considering how many people began to innovate on the technology without Vaughn giving them any aid.
Yet, the man still decided to seal such technology behind what would eventually be known as the Triad Gates.
After all, unlike the two previous attempts on giving humanity its place on Veldanyr in the past, Vaughn had more or less spoon-fed the technology to the humans.
Understanding that having access to such technology too early would lead to extreme misuse, the man stepped down from his throne, nominated a descendant to become his successor and eventually established the Four Pillars' Inheritance.
Stuffing the Triad Gates into the Four Pillars' Inheritance, the man then acted as the supreme guardian of the Zeihardt Sovereignty for a while, giving humanity a safety net as they still adjusted to the Age of Innovation.
Eventually, around five thousand years after the Age of Innovation started, Vaughn decided that he could now leave humanity to fend off for themselves, proud that humanity had given rise to multiple Myth-level beings that were considerably strong.
With that, the man inwardly thought about the things he'd done to get to this point and took the final step, smiling as he finally ascended to Rank 8.
Whoosh!
And that was where the memory ended.
