Chapter 105.2

Chapter 105.2. Just Right For A Show Of Strength

It was Yamiyo with its feet caught in the sand, but its feet were completely submerged in the sand by one shoe, and ripples were spreading. It was as if he had stepped into shallow water.

In reality, cunningly, it had become a trap that appeared to be nothing more than a sandy beach. Mercenary crab is good at attacking with brute force, but it also has the cunning instinct to create an environment that works in its favor.

I may forget the story, but I never forget the rare monster. Mercenary crab shells, you know, can be used for mid-level armor.

But its effects don’t work on me. Miu takes a small step onto the sandy beach.

The first step is a crunch, the sand pops, and her foot sinks deeper with a zzzz.

The second step makes a crunching sound, and her shoes get half-buried in the sand.

With the third step, Miu’s feet are on the sand. It was as if she was standing on top of the water, making ripples.

With the fourth step, without even a ripple, Miu’s toes stood softly on the sand like feathers. She stood on the sand like a feather, without causing any waves.

[Ghostly Dance I].

No matter how many steps the moving foot had already taken, it didn’t sink into the sand, didn’t cause a ripple, and made no sound quietly.

That [Dance] makes me immune to terrain effects. It’s [Ghostly Dance]. It’s I, so it only lasts three turns, but it doesn’t matter.

“Tei!”

Waving her stuttering little limbs, she sprints silently along the beach as if she were not there. From the eyes of others, she no doubt looks as if she has a high ability to rapidly adjust herself to the terrain.

With my mace held to the side, my gray hair swept back, and my ice blue eyes like a bird of prey that found its prey. I harbor with mercenary crab with a dangerous glint in my eyes.

Mercenary crab swings a pair of shears down at the approaching Miu.

[Strong Blade Scissors]

A mana-infused blow approaches, but with a thump, it kicks the beach and flies to the right. With a gowon and a roar, the sand pops and craters.

Mercenary crab slashes at Miu, who quickly ducks like a kitten, trying to pin her with its left scissor.

“Yo!”

It closes in on Miu’s eyes, but she’s unfazed, zigzagging as she bounces on the sand. With a jerk, the scissor close behind her, creating a large gash in the sand.

“Ta-da!”

With a small shout, the girl rhythmically climbs up on mercenary crab’s scissor’s front legs as a springboard.

The panicked mercenary crab tries to pull back the scissor, but it’s too late. Mii-chan’s level is 50, and even though it is a sub-job, she has a [Thief IV]. And [Trickster], who is good at light work, is her second job.

“I guess the slow crab-san can’t keep up with me?”

I smirk, and when I’m right in front of mercenary crab’s head, I take a big flying leap and swing his mace as hard as he can.

[Brain Shaker]

Using my entire body, I swing my mace down on mercenary crab. With a gurgle, I dent mercenary crab’s head and shake its body.

Mercenary crab stops moving slightly after receiving the [Brain Shaker] and shakes its body.

I thought it would work on monster too, based on the effect it had on Zephyrus, but it still seems to work to some extent. It wouldn’t be a headache, but would it still make it feel sick?

I kicked the body of the wobbling mercenary crab and landed softly on the beach, and was about to fire another shot, but it had already turned to face me.

“Ahhh, I knew it had to have a stun or some other effect.”

The effect seemed to last less than a second. I shouldn’t expect more than the effect set in the game because it’s real life.

“Everyone is so strong.”

As I was wondering whether to attack or defend, I heard a happy voice behind me and turned around to see Mashiro pulling out a sword. The sword’s blade was the exact opposite of Yamiyo’s jet-black blade and was transparent as if made of crystal. The shimmering sword, like a beautiful work of art, would be invisible from some angles.

Mashiro, clad in mana, bent at the waist and held the sword up, smiling wistfully. The mana-covered crystal sword glows from within the blade.

[Shadowless Sword]

A wind-slashing sound was heard. That was all. It would have seemed to a normal person that something had just passed by.

But Mashiro had drawn his sword, and there was nothing left but his lingering spirit.

Then mercenary crab’s huge body cracked open, and fell to the beach, scattering crabmeat.

“Yes, I was worried about Yamiyo, but she and her friends are strong enough. You can go on your mission without worry.”

Mashiro smiles, snapping the sword into its sheath, not a speck of dirt or cloudiness on it.

Not even a shadow is cast on the ground, and even after defeating mercenary crab that looks like a lump of metal, Mashiro doesn’t act all high and mighty, turning his pretty, girlish face into a smile. He’s quite a terrific guy. He’s indeed the heir apparent of a marquis family. He’s from the Magic Tower.

“Mhm, was onii-sama worried about me?”

“Ah, many children who become adventurers after their first year of marriage get seriously injured. But you all could assess the situation, so I think you’ll be fine.”

“Are you going to be overprotective as soon as you return home, onii-sama?”

Yamiyo puffed out her cheeks with an mmm, but inwardly she was happy.

“Haha, don’t say that. When we’re together, I at least want to help you. We’re going on a mission soon.”

Mashiro’s smile is always so picturesque.

“Well, are you already at work?”

“Well, since I was sent to the Magic Tower, I have to work hard from now on as the heir apparent of a marquis family. I’ll be back in about six months, so please wait for my souvenirs.”

Mashiro gently pats the head of Yamiyo, who is unusually childish with a disgruntled face.

What, he’s already at work? You’re such a good brother and sister, coming to check on your sister before work.

Well, it’s crab casserole today. I wonder if we can eat mercenary crabs.
