Chapter 262.1
Chapter 262.1. Golden Threads
-???’s POV-
There was a room of obsidian black. It was a room crafted from glossy, smooth black obsidian that seemed to absorb light.
It was precisely shaped into a square with sides of about 30 meters each.
The obsidian room had a complex geometric magic circle carved directly into the obsidian from the center. The lines forming the magic circle faintly glowed with a bluish-white light, pulsating as if a heart were beating.
There was a rectangular bed of a size where one person could lie down, positioned like an altar, and upon it lay a young man in the center.
He was a young boy, his youthful face softly illuminated by a faint bluish-white light. His eyes were closed, and he breathed softly.
On the sleeping boy’s arm was a golden bracelet that emanated a mysteriously captivating power, enough to steal one’s gaze upon first sight.
Golden Threads drifted from the golden bracelet with such potency that the magic’s strength was visually manifested. These threads flowed into an adjacent obsidian bed, similar.
In this space, exuding an atmosphere of temple-like serenity and mystique, an unlikely sight in this room, a woman sat on a chair made of iron pipes.
Bathed in the bluish-white light, she wore a robe and was reading a paperback book. Although her expression suggested amusement, she wasn’t entirely engrossed in what she was reading.
The only sound was the rustling of pages turning, spreading through the world dominated by silence.
Then, the bracelet on the sleeping boy began to emit an intense light.
Unlike the gentle golden aura it had exhibited moments ago, it now shone brightly, dazzlingly, to the point of almost blinding.
The woman stopped reading her book and closed it, yet she gazed at the light with an unaffected expression.
Accompanying the light, a multitude of golden threads emanated from the golden bracelet, heading towards the empty bed next to the boy.
The golden threads converged to take on a human form, and a sphere of light descended from above into this formed figure.
Thus, the golden humanoid changed color, its skin emerged, hair sprouted, and its chest began to pulsate.
Having taken on human form, he slowly opened his eyes, stood up, and performed ordinary movements, testing his abilities by flexing and rotating his shoulders.
Observing this, the woman spoke.
“Good morning, Ymir.”
“Ah, good morning. It seems there are no issues this time.”
The man was Ymir. He’s the one who had been defeated by Takano Miu. His body appeared as though it had been finely trained, without a single scar.
“Well, I’m glad you’re safe this time too. I was a bit worried.”
The woman retrieved a set of men’s clothing from the space around her and handed it to him.
Ymir accepted it with practiced ease, wearing the clothes while directing a sharp gaze at the woman before speaking.
“Does that mean there was a chance my soul could have been destroyed?”
“It’s just a figure of speech. Nothing is ever absolute. There’s always a possibility. And there was a chance of an unforeseen outcome.”
“Heh, your words are always so enigmatic, making it hard to take them literally. But yes, considering that girl, it’s natural to have doubts about being annihilated.”
After adjusting his clothes and finishing dressing, Ymir turned his face towards the woman.
“You, Spatial Witch, were right. I probably wouldn’t have realized the abnormality if I hadn’t fought that girl.”
“Hehe, she’s slightly out of sync with the world’s perception. It’s quite challenging to sense any discrepancies. Even I only recognized her not too long ago.”
“Even you, who controls space. Only recently?”
“Yes, I did feel something was off, but since I couldn’t escape my constraints, I couldn’t recover most of my memories either.”
Shaking her head and turning her mouth into a smile, Spatial Witch elicited a slightly stern expression from Imil.
“Overwriting the world… That’s harsh. If you hadn’t helped me recover even a fragment of my memories, I wouldn’t have been able to move freely. I’m grateful.”
“If I hadn’t met you, I probably would have continued behaving just like before. I appreciate it.”
With a hint of blush, Spatial Witch returned an affectionate smile and assured Ymir that there was no need to worry. Ymir waved his hand dismissively.
“Sena was quite foolish as well. An endless world where people repeated the same life. However, this time has changed thanks to that girl, hasn’t it?”
“Yes. This repeating world is crumbling because that girl became a bug. Many people are now starting to lead different lives centered around her.”
“Hmm… If it continues like this, Sena won’t be able to repeat the world?”
“Yes, that’s correct. It will become impossible. However, altering a world that has already been set in motion is difficult. There’s still a possibility it might fall into the same cycle.”
“That would be problematic… However, we can’t overlook Takano Miu’s actions up until now. It’s a difficult situation… At this rate, Shin won’t be able to become Emperor.”
Upon the words of Spatial Witch, Ymir put his hand on his chin and looked troubled. He had been surprised by the concept of a world with no future due to overwriting, but now, even if they managed to deal with that, it wouldn’t matter if they couldn’t achieve objectives. Moreover, considering the success in the previous world, he was all the more puzzled by the current course of events.
“I thought Aguni Masatoshi was the butterfly effect… But to think there was an even more severe existence. Can’t they be removed from the stage?”
“You believe you can eliminate that girl through battle?”
“It’s impossible. She’s an opponent immune to [Magic Break]. An existence on par with the Demon God Ashtaroth, or rather, that girl is even more problematic. Killing her is currently beyond our capabilities.”
Sighing heavily, Ymir pondered about Takano Miu’s existence.
“If it were merely about having power, it wouldn’t have been an issue. I could have defeated the enemy obstructing me by guiding things accordingly. But the troublesome aspect of that girl is her knowledge of the power of gold, and authority. And she used those things effectively.”
“That’s true. It seems she managed to corner Kanna Dukedom. Oh, by the way, during the 9 days of your resurrection, Menou Marquisate officially cut ties with Kanna Dukedom. They came to inform Duke Kanna that they were discontinuing their support.”
.
Ymir’s expression revealed surprise, seemingly caught off guard by the Spatial Witch’s intriguing revelation.
