Currently in front of me, stood the damsel of my dreams.
'No, not Scarlett.'
I looked at the Desert Scorpion Red Edition with a tender gaze.
Yes, she was the damsel I was talking about. I had more interest in her than the beautiful Scarlett sitting on its driving seat.
"Are you done staring? We don't have the whole day."
Scarlett said in an emotionless tone, her voice containing a bit of annoyance.
'Is she in a hurry?'
Nevertheless, I didn't want to make things harder than they already were for her, so I sat inside the car.
"Can I drive?"
"Do you have a licence?"
"...."
Why would she ask for a licence from a grown man? Anyone would have a licence these days.
".....I didn't have a car, so I didn't feel the need to get a licence."
"Then you are not going to touch its controls until you get one. Off we go now."
The problem with independent and working women was that they were rule followers and didn't know how to let lose once in a while.
—-Tsk Tsk!
I clicked my tongue as the car raced towards Delta City. Passing by the electromagnetic barrier, one could see the towering buildings and the busy roads, both the air roadways and the ground ones.
After passing through the south part of the city, we took a turn towards the northeastern part of the city, which held most of the residential buildings, although most of them were still commercial.
Scarlett entered one of these high-class buildings, her car parked on the 4th floor, and then I followed her to the 40th floor. The height of the residential buildings was considerably lower than that of commercial buildings, which were literal skyscrapers.
"So, where is your apartment?"
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, c'mon. I am asking where your apartment is, the apartment where I'll be staying in, with you."
I asked as I looked around. After coming out of the elevator, the whole floor looked like it was designed in a fashion of a giant villa.
"Well, my apartment. We are already there. This, and the two more floors below and above are collectively my apartment. This building belongs to my family. My brother lives just above us on the 42nd floor, you can call him if you need any help."
"....."
'What the actual fuck!'
My mouth was agape, literally. It opened and closed trying to squeeze out some words, but was unsuccessful every time.
I looked around at the grand villa-like apartment, it was lavishly decorated with a mixture of modern and mediaeval touches. There was a large chandelier hanging on the ceiling, and there were staircases that led to passage adjacent to the grandiose wall decorated with various antique paintings and weapons.
The staircases led to the second and third storey of the apartment, connecting to various rooms.
'Seriously? There is a storey inside a storey? What is wrong with this world?'
''Anyways, just pick any room you would like. They're all managed and cleaned by the bots on a regular basis, so you don't have to worry about picking a dirty room."
"O-okay then, I am kind of tired, I'll go take some rest."
"You should. I'll ask someone to take care of your luggage and deliver it to your room. Off you go, lost potato. Don't come out unless I ask you to or if it's anything urgent. There are many VR capsules scattered around the apartment, so just hop into one if you want to."
"Alright, thanks."
After that, I immediately ran toward the stairs. Climbing up, I unlocked the first room I came across and entered it.
"Oh, for god's sake!"
I left the room as soon as I entered it. The reason?
"That's my room, never enter again without permission."
Scarlett's eerily cold voice was heard behind me, and I could feel a dark, and mad aura coming from behind me. I didn't have the guts to look back so I just ran forward and entered the second room that I came across.
—-Haah!
"Stuffed toys? At this age?"
The reason why Scarlett was so angry was that I had discovered a secret that not many people know. Her whole room was filled with stuffed toys, from big pandas to small koalas. There were many stuffed animals in her room.
"Sigh, her stereotypical businesswoman image has taken a huge turn in my mind."
I threw the one bag that I had in a corner and looked around the room. It was quite large, almost 15 square meters, and was fully furnished with a grey theme to it. On one side, was a huge balcony, from where I could see the whole city, while there was a flower pot painting hung on the other wall.
The wall in front of the comfy bed was continuously changing colours like neon lights. It wasn't actually a wall made out of cement or anything too solid, for that matter. It was actually a huge smart screen. It was the current replacement for the Smart TV.
Having surveyed the house with my eyes, I finally fell on the squishy and comfortable bed.
—-Ugh!
The feeling was heavenly. The bed wasn't overly squishy, but it had that perfect balance that made the feeling of laying on it heavenly.
"What should I do next?"
I had a lot of changes in my life in the last 3-4 months, and to cope with the said changes, I had to make a schedule so as to not mess up my real life with my game one.
First of all, I needed to make some time for my physical fitness. Secondly, I had to groom myself to look more like a person than a descendant of the monkeys. After all, if everything went as planned, I would have to show my face to the world as the legendary class. I wouldn't want to look like a country bumpkin then.
Apart from the fact that I had to come up with strategies and learn more about the competition itself, I also have to focus on my in-game life.
"And I am going to get engaged too. I hope it doesn't shackle me down."
I sighed thinking that. Ena was a truly nice girl, and that's all there was that I knew about her. I am a believer of love, and for me to be getting engaged to someone I barely know was already a big step. Most people would argue that this is just a game, but I for one would never be able to think of it as such due to how alive the people inside it are.
While I was rolling around the bed thinking about random things, my eyes suddenly landed on something interesting.
A 3-meter polygonal metallic box was placed around one corner of the room. It was a surprise to me how I had missed it earlier.
Imprinted on the giant VR capsule was the logo of Life Corporations tech company.
"A fucking MVR-6000!"
It was one of the latest, fastest, smoothest, futuristic and costliest VR on the market currently.
'Well, she is the daughter of Life Corporation's chairman.'
I touched the cold metallic surface of the VR capsule and got an urge to try playing in it.
'Didn't she say I can use any VR on this floor?'
A smile crept on my face as I tapped on the VR, clicking it open as it made a slight sound as if it was releasing gas.
'So the auto maintenance function isn't a hoax, huh?'
I took in a deep breath, enjoying the fragrance of something new that I was about to try.
A recliner chair-like seat morphed out of the VR capsule, and as soon as I sat on the comfortable seat, it reclined back inside the VR, making me turn into a lying posture as the lid of the VR shut close and dreadful darkness surrounded me.
