Zhao Lifei didn’t know how and when she fell asleep in his arms, but she did. And she only discovered it when a piercing sound ripped through the air, startling the loving couple from their slumber.

HONK!

HONK!

She almost fell off the bed in fright upon hearing the blaring horn being blasted from Yang Feng’s side. It was annoying and unbearably loud. If it came closer, it could pop their eardrums.

CLUNK!

The noise stopped when the beast that was previously wrapped around her roughly smacked the loud horn out of the perpetrator’s hand, the device falling onto the floor with a heavy thud.

Yang Feng had quickly sat up and reacted to the noise, using his entire body to shield his woman on instinct. He has bed hair and his silk button-up was crinkled and messy, but his eyes were incredibly deadly.

"You have a lot of nerve to do that." Yang Feng sneered at the startled Li Xuan that had never seen Yang Feng’s hand coming. Yang Feng’s speed and stealth were simply way too fast to be detected even by trained men.

His rigid posture and broad shoulders completely hid Zhao Lifei from any harm.

Li Xuan cradled his hand, his skin burning with pain. When he was bold enough to look up, he immediately trained his eyes down to the floor. The murderous aura from Yang Feng was hard to miss. A shiver crawled up his spine and his forehead broke out into a cold sweat. W-why was it so cold in here?

She lifted her head and her heart thudded in fear upon seeing the deep scowl on her grandfather’s face.

"G-grandfather." She breathed out in shock, surprised to see his face brimming with disappointment.

"Xiao Fei." His voice contained animosity. He was very displeased at the scene in front of him.

Zhao Lifei realized where she went wrong. Immediately, she tried to scramble out of the bed, but Yang Feng refused to let her leave his arms and kept her in place.

"I forced her to allow me to stay the night." He spoke up, his voice thick and rigid like a cold slab of obsidian. Despite his current appearance, his aura was still as frightening as ever. He climbed out of the bed and stood up to his full height that towered over Zhao Moyao.

"Don’t try to intimidate me, boy." He spat out the last word as if it was poison on his tongue. Youngsters these days were getting bolder by the minute.

"I wasn’t." Yang Feng’s tall and wide frame was able to perfectly hide the frail woman behind him. He knew she placed her grandfather in high regard and was nervous at how this morning has turned out.

"Not only was it leaked that my granddaughter is currently confined here, but you also entered through the front entrance of this hospital like a complete fool. You should know by now the media is going crazy." Zhao Moyao tilted his head to Li Xuan.

Li Xuan respectfully showed the CEO the tabloid headlines using two hands to pass it along to Yang Feng. His actual instructions from his boss were to chuck the magazines at Yang Feng, but something like that was beyond his capabilities. He didn’t want to die so young!

The magazines had headlines swirling around their relationship. Although in varying words, the main point was the same: CEO Yang, the man who had not been linked with anyone until Zhao Linhua’s banquet has been spotted numerous times canoodling with the same woman. Unexpectedly, it was Zheng Tianyi’s ex-fiancee and the fallen Queen of the socialite circle, Zhao Lifei.

There were pictures attached of him walking into the hospital entrance, surrounded by men, but his tall structure and perfectly sculptured face were easy to be spotted. There were side-comments made about how he spent the night at the hospital to take care of her, but the wording hinted something else.

Yang Feng didn’t take the magazines nor did he look at the secretary. His sole attention was on Zhao Moyao.

"I allowed them to." He coldly said in a sharp voice.

Zhao Lifei shivered at the drop in temperature. Her grandfather’s wrath was not something to be ignored. People described him to be a coy fox when in reality, he was more of a majestic lion. He pretended to be calm and listless while biding his time when he could strike a head off with a flick of his wrist.

"You allowed them to?! She barely survived a kidnapping! And now you have the press on her? Have you lost your damn mind—"

"The world ought to know who she belongs to." Yang Feng’s sharp eyes turned towards the door where a particular VP was standing still. He would not forget the images that the paparazzi gave him. It doesn’t matter if it’s a misunderstanding or one-sided, even him just thinking of his woman is simply unacceptable.

Zhao Moyao’s face turned ashen, his eyes darkening with fury at Yang Feng’s smug declaration! His granddaughter is his treasured jewel, his prized star. She is the child he personally nurtured! Her business potential was fully developed because of him! She belonged to no one except herself.

"I will not have my granddaughter’s reputation to be further ruined by you! You claim she’s your lover? Then who is that pesky secretary that’s always around you? Don’t think that just because you’re from the Yang family I wouldn’t look into your background! She has quite a famous reputation in your office." Zhao Moyao felt his face redden with anger. How dare he keep a mistress while staking a claim on his granddaughter?! Did he truly lose his mind?!

"You let your employees call her your ’Future Madam Yang’! What kind of nonsense is that?!" He snarled, throwing his report directly onto Yang Feng’s chest. The moment that brat had shown interest in his granddaughter, he had people investigate into Yang Feng. The comprehensive report only came this morning, and he stormed here to warn his granddaughter.

"It’s mere office gossip. Mr. Zhao, I expected better credentials than that." Yang Feng didn’t flinch when the thick stack of paper was slammed against his chest. If it wasn’t for the woman behind him who was obviously trying to nervously soothe his anger by holding on to him, he would not let anyone berate him this way.

"You’re referring to Su Meixiu. She’s been my secretary for a very long time."

Zhao Lifei frowned at this. They called that woman future Madam Yang?! And he lets them do that? Why is there another white lotus in the picture?! Ugh, give me a break!

Why was his EQ as low as hers?!

Angered by his response, she resolutely tried to take her hand back from touching him. But the moment she tried to do so, his fingers came around hers and he completely engulfed her tiny hand with his enormous one.

"You can rest assured there is nothing more between us aside from a platonic employer and employee relationship. If that woman takes even an inch beyond professional boundaries, she would already be long gone." Yang Feng’s tone became harsher. He had felt more infuriated that she had wanted to tug her hand back once his secretary’s name was mentioned. Did she not trust him? He tightened his hand around hers to force her to stay still.

Zhao Moyao saw the exchange very clearly. "Release my granddaughter, Yang Heng."

Was he always this brute and forceful? Even with their conflicting line of work, he had a good relationship with the current head of the Yang family, Yang Feng’s grandfather. He had watched Yang Feng evolve from a young boy to the aloof man that he is today. However, it seems that with his granddaughter, this usually detached man can’t wait to attach himself.

"Her hands are cold. I’m warming it up for her." He shamelessly answered within the blink of an eye.

"Yang Feng, my grandfather means a lot to me. Be more respectful." Zhao Lifei whispered, frowning at the way he was treating her only family.

Yang Feng turned his head to her, his gaze softening. "Alright." He whispered back. This stubborn woman refused to ask him for anything, and now that she did, he instantly agreed. He decided to change the tone of his voice when he talked to Zhao Moyao again.

"Xiao Fei, don’t hide behind this birdbrain brute." Even in his rage, Zhao Moyao noticed how protective this man was of his granddaughter. While it was a good and notable trait, having another woman in his life claiming to be his future wife negates all that.

Li Xuan nearly cried tears of blood when he heard the insult. B-birdbrain brute?! His anxiety was skyrocketing out the rooftop with his boss’s stubborn temperament and rude behavior!

"Elder Zhao, she’s injured. It would be hard for her to move." Yang Feng tried to soften his voice to make it sound more polite, but it didn’t make a lot of difference. His grandfather had harshly instilled in him while he was growing up that he should always exude a powerful aura. His grandfather’s motto was to make sure people always fear you first, for respect was something that could come after.

Zhao Moyao’s eyes became sharper. "Elder Zhao? I didn’t permit you to call me by such formal titles reserved for—"

"Oh? Should I refer to you as grandfather then?"

"Disdainful brat, how dare you—"

"Lifei is going to be my wife in the future. I suppose I should start familiarizing myself with calling you grandfather." Yang Feng purposely referred to marriage to show how committed he was in this relationship.

It was known that all the families who had dared to approach the Yangs to offer up their daughters to him for marriage had been vehemently rejected, the insistent ones even suffered great losses. It was also one of the reasons how he had never been publicly linked with any woman. Hearing such a thing come out from his mouth was a shocking matter.

Zhao Moyao was caught off-guard by Yang Feng’s confession. He paused, eyeing the man from head to toe. "You truly plan to marry my granddaughter?"

"I don’t just plan to marry her and make her my one and only wife. I plan on starting a family with her. The bigger, the better." Yang Feng bluntly said as the edge of his lips pulled up into a small smile. It rendered everyone in the room speechless. The smile, though tiny, looked very sincere when paired up with his suddenly adoring gaze as he thought about his bright future with Zhao Lifei.
