Seeing the distress on her face, Yang Feng figured it must have been about Feili or her grandfather. "Don’t worry. If it’s about Feili, I’ve already contacted your new Vice President in advance."

He left out the part where he told Zhao Moyao that she was in the hospital. The ancient turtle stormed to the hospital, demanding for Yang Feng to kneel and beg for forgiveness. All was well when Yang Feng explained why she fainted. The elder thought it was because Yang Feng did not take proper care of her. Then Zhao Moyao left after calling Yang Feng by the wrong name. He also threw in nicknames like "Prick, rascal, punk, bastard," and so forth.

"Oh." Zhao Lifei relaxed, then tensed up. "So what if you told him?!" She groaned, facepalming herself for sleeping so damn long.

She knew Huo Qiudong’s character. On the outside, he will smile and politely nod his head at what Yang Feng told him. He might even play it off that he was completely fine with the CEO being absent for four days. Then, when she returns, there will be a long lecture and he will thoroughly pile the work onto her desk.

"I’m so screwed!" She pitifully cried, wiping away her nonexistent tears.

"Yeah, screwed by me soon."

She thought it was a joke, but he sounded too serious. She peeked at him through her hands and saw how solemn his face was. "Now is not the time to joke, Yang Feng!" She huffed. She jumped when he suddenly came closer to her, pushing her onto the bed. Her breath hitched when she saw a flash of passionate fervor in his eyes.

In a low, sultry voice, he whispered, "You think it’s a joke? Wait until I’m done with you tonight."

She shivered at how seductive he sounded. Her body clenched when he began to press open-mouth kisses starting from the back of her ears down to the dip of her neck. His hands began to explore lower and lower until they impatiently pushed her hospital gown up and that was when she came back to Earth.

"Wait!"

He froze, pulling his hands back. "Okay." He reluctantly said in a slightly hoarse voice. Luckily, they stopped there before his buddy got excited. Nevermind. Too late now. Tonight would probably be the 99th cold shower that he had.

"No, it’s not that I’m not ready." She blurted out without warning, her face heating up. Great, just great. She had successfully embarrassed herself again.

He was mindblown at her words and she didn’t give him the chance to respond. "It’s just... I haven’t brushed my teeth for like four days and I haven’t taken a shower."

She babbled on, her nerves taking over. "My breath probably stinks and I reek, but you’re too nice to tell me that. Well, you’re not really nice to other people, which you should work on. Just don’t be too nice to women alright? Especially if they’re prettier than me. But if they’re business partners, that’s another story. Wait, scratch that, I sound too possessive. Okay, maybe you can talk to some beautiful women, but you better not come home with another leash around your neck because I swear, I have a sharp knife ready for you."

Screw my life. She wanted to dig a hole and bury herself into it. Who the hell has a word vomit that damn long? She was pretty sure she had beaten Qinqin’s record by now.

’This is fantastic. Way to go, Lifei. He probably thinks you’re either delusional or belong in a mental hospital, or maybe even both!’ She said to herself.

Yang Feng opened his mouth, but she cut him off and said, "Just forget everything I said."

"My love—"

"Alright, fine, fine. You can make fun of me for that. But only once okay? I’m sensitive. Well, not really. It’s just I’m so embarrassed, I’ll probably become redder than a potato. No, I mean tomatoes." She spoke so fast, everything might’ve been one word.

"My dear, listen to me—"

"Once is actually too much. Let’s not even talk about it, okay? Wait, is that too controlling? Uhm, then maybe just half a joke? Like a really small one...not too much, though." That’s it. Where’s the nearest open window? She wanted to fling herself out of it right now.

Yang Feng waited for her to say something else. A second later, he broke out into a loud laughter that caused her face to become inflamed.

"It’s not funny!" She cried out, tearing up a bit. Even though her heart skipped a beat and her stomach’s dragon came to life at the sound of his laughter, she still wanted to cry.

When he turned towards her with that knee-wobbling smile, she thought, ’Wow. He might as well have shot me right there because I think my heart stopped. Why is he so handsome?! Damn it! How come he doesn’t have one bad angle to him?’

"Silly girl." He shook his head whilst pulling her into his arms. "You smell perfectly fine. And there is no one else in this world that’s prettier than you, you little fool—"

"Technically, you have to say that since you are my husband." Zhao Lifei wrinkled her nose at him. He chuckled and patted her head.

"Fine, I guess the truth has been exposed."

Zhao Lifei gasped, her eyes as wide as her gaping mouth. This..this...bastard! She didn’t think he would flat out slap her with the truth. "I hope you enjoy the couch from now on!" She kicked him off of her, jamming her leg into his stomach like a kid.

"Aren’t you going to ask who it is?" He was greatly entertained by her violent reactions. It seemed grabbing her hands was not the best idea since she could also use her legs. It took only one leg for him to clamp down on hers, forcing it in place.

"I don’t care." She snapped, crossing her arms. She was angry that he was able to easily subdue her leg. She guessed it was time to hit the gym and try to strength-train.

"Is that pout I see?" He continued to bully her by reaching his hand out to pinch her squishable cheeks. With a loud "Hmph!" she turned her head away from him. A mirthful smile graced his face. He hugged her from behind while resting his chin on her head. He ignored her elbow jabs that felt like pokes.

"The only person who has a chance of rivaling you will be our future daughter." He twirled the ends of her hair, curling it around one of his fingers.

Zhao Lifei stopped struggling and in a quiet voice, she said, "You’re very annoying. You know that right?" Despite her words, she couldn’t keep the smile off her face.

"Likewise." He hummed in reply, pinching the strands of her hair with two fingers. He didn’t know why, but playing with it gave him some sort of comfort.

Zhao Lifei silently laid there with him. Somehow, their position changed. She was resting her head on his chest whilst his hand was continuously playing with some parts of her hair. She could hear his steady heartbeat and she was very close to falling back asleep. She found it strange how relaxed her body felt when his arms were around her. The safety and comfort he provided were unrivaled to anyone else in this world.

Before Zhao Lifei fell asleep, she raised her head and sat up. One of his arms were slung loosely around her hip.

"What’s wrong?" He asked her, expecting her to fall asleep. He would never admit this, but he wanted to cuddle with her. It has been four days since he had not held her whilst he slept. And those nights were gruesome. He would toss and turn on the separate hospital bed provided by one of the nurses. Without her presence, he felt uneasy. When he finally caught a wink of sleep, he would wake up two or three hours later, drenched in sweat from a damn nightmare.

Her hospital bed was huge enough to fit both of them together with enough room to spare. When she was unconscious, he refused to get into the bed with her. He didn’t want to accidentally touch her in his sleep and mess with the needles or hooks attached to her. There were too many risks.

"I’m going to take a shower first. I feel sticky." Zhao Lifei yawned, which caused him to yawn a bit because of how intently he was staring at her. Yawns are contagious.

"Come back quickly." Yang Feng instructed her when she hopped off the bed without his help.

He pressed the call button for a nurse and a minute later, one walked in. After examining the empty IV drip bag, the nurse took out the needles and placed pressure onto the skin with a cotton ball. Next, she placed on a band-aid and left the room.

"You don’t need to take one?" She curiously asked him while walking to the closet in hopes of finding a towel. It was stocked with fluffy, white ones.

"I took one this morning." He told her which made her disappointingly nod her head. She wanted to see a wet Yang Feng with only a towel hanging dangerously low on his waist and water droplets rolling down the sharp v-line... She rapidly shook her head at the image and ran into the bathroom before he could ask her what’s wrong.
