Chapter 197 197. Callisto.
Such a thing becoming a reality was simply preposterous.
And thus, the immortals gathered around to form an alliance to take down the King of Elysium, King Cratos.
In the end, their plan to oust the king was thwarted by a traitor in their midst who had informed the king of everything that had been going on since the inception.
The traitor who betrayed them turned out to be Cratos' younger sister, Callisto.
At first, it looked like she was genuinely displeased with her brother's decision to make the queen of dragons his bride, hence the reason why the others didn't suspect that she could ever betray them.
A fact they regretted overlooking in the first place.
And so, Cratos banished all the immortals who took part in the coup away from Elysium, never to be seen again in the kingdom of the immortals.
And with that out of the way, Cratos and the queen of dragons carried on with their wedding, an heir was born the following year and their son grew to exceed their expectations.
He was a child that possessed both immortal and dragon blood flowing through his veins, and with abundant supplies and materials required to help his growth at his disposal, Cratos and his wife provided the necessary training their son needed to surpass everyone in Elysium.
His strength and assimilation of magic far exceeded his peers and he was more adept in the act of combat than 90% of the immortals residing in Elysium.
And what was even more surprising was the fact that he was just fifteen years old at the time.
However, everything wasn't all sunshine and roses for the young immortal.
The son of the immortal who initially led the rebellion against the king sought to have his own revenge on the king for his father's banishment. So he gathered some of the strongest immortals who were slowly being consumed by jealousy towards the king's son and he also gathered others whose fathers were banished as well.
Their objective was to sneak into the Prince's chamber at night to end his life, and once the king was in a state of distress and turmoil, they would use that chance to achieve what their fathers couldn't.
To end the life of the King and queen themselves, ensuring that a dragon never sat on the throne.
However, just like their fathers, the sons were unable to achieve their goals.
But this time, it was the prince himself who defeated all fifty assailants that snuck into his chambers that night.
King Cratos found out about their schemes the next day and the culprits were immediately exiled from Elysium just like their fathers, but unlike their fathers who were sent to several other dimensions or thrown into the four cities of the human realm, the King sought to use a different approach.
King Cratos sent every one of the assailants to Tartarus, where they would never be able to escape on their own, unless someone summoned them directly from Tartarus.
Meanwhile, seeing how his seventeen-year-old son single-handedly defeated fifty assailants on his own, a feeling of pride washed over Cratos.
Cratos informed his son that it was only a matter of time before he became the next king, but his son wasn't interested in taking over the throne.
Due to how everything came easily to him, Cratos' son grew bored as the years went by.
At the age of eight, he was already stronger than all of his peers and at the age of fifteen, he was stronger than ninety percent of the immortals in Elysium.
All these didn't feel as exciting to him anymore as they once did before, and he sought to find challenges and adventure away from Elysium.
Cratos found out about his son's desire from his wife, and although he wasn't impressed by the idea of having his son and future king of Elysium venturing out of the kingdom, in the end, he succumbed to his son's desire and granted him the freedom to do whatever he wanted but at the cost of a few conditions that Cratos gave to his son.
"The name of the son who led the assailants towards the Prince's bed chambers was Deimos," Lucky grunted in pain as he slowly raised his body from the floor.
"And right now, his father is on a quest to create an army of Awakened and cannibals capable of standing toe to toe with an immortal," Lucky finally got to his feet, staggering a bit as he looked at Kevin who was also barely able to stand on his own.
"It's only a matter of time before he summons his son, Deimos from Tartarus, and once this has been done, their next target will be you, Kevin."
Hearing this, Kevin's brows creased in confusion.
"It's you, Kevin. You've always been our initial target."
"At first, we thought the prince of Elysium was Max, seeing how close Lucy was to him."
"But we never knew she would transmigrate your soul into that of an orphan,m while sealing your bloodline and abilities so that we would consider you nothing more than a mere mortal that she adopted to keep her family happy."
"But I do give her credit for completely fooling us for so long and concealing herself from us as well."
Lucky noticed the solemn look Kevin had on his face and it became clearer to him that Kevin finally understood what he was talking about.
And to enlighten Kevin even more, he decided to clear any doubts Kevin might still have in his mind.
"Yes, Kevin, your mother Lucy, is the queen of dragons, Lucille, and you are her son, Atreus."
"And Ares, Deimos' father, will be heading towards Elysium right after he's done with you and Lucille."
Uncle Lucky cracked his knuckles and his neck in preparation for another battle.
"Being the neglected first son of a notorious god like Ares and the brother of a strong god-like Deimos, life can be cruel for an immortal like me when the world views you as the weakest god in the family."
