My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 184 Far Range Accuracy

Dave had turned off his dream control feature the moment he left for his honeymoon and he had not turned it back on yet even as he was on a pre-season tour with his friend.

The goalkeeper slowly opened his eyes to see the ceiling and after staring at it for a while, he turned to the side and picked up his phone to check the time.

He turned on his phone to see that the time was 5:50 AM.

He slowly sat up on his bed and let out a yawn before stretching both of his hands and while he was doing this, Mateo was still fast asleep.

'I haven't been able to go on a proper run for a month now.' He said subconsciously before he got up from his bed. 'Hey, Catherine, what gives? You always say good morning to me every time I wake up in the morning, what happened today?'

<I'm sorry, good morning>

"I don't even know what's wrong with you." He muttered before picking up his running boots from the floor.

He changed into something more comfortable for running before he made his way out of the room and out of the building for his morning run.

He returned to the room about forty minutes later to find Mateo lying on his bed going through his phone.

"Where did you go?" The winger asked as soon as he entered the room.

"I went out for a short run." He replied as he made his way to his bed.

"Oh, that's good." The winger said.

"We're not going to play any match today, right?"

"Yeah."

"But we're still going to train."

"Yeah, sometime in the evening," Mateo said before bringing his phone down.

"Okay, but I think the evening is a bit too far."

"Yeah, I think so too." The winger said before sitting up on his bed.

Dave was about to say something before his phone began to ring, there was no point in checking the caller as he already knew who it was.

"Emma calling to check up on you again?" Mateo asked before getting up on his bed.

"Yeah," Dave replied.

"I'll be in the bathroom then, you two take your time." He said before opening the door to the bathroom. "And don't forget to tell her what you did last night." He added before closing the door.

After cleaning themselves up in their rooms, the players were served breakfast and after filling themselves up for the morning, they were now free to do whatever they wanted, a few of them had already gone out to tour the area.

Dave and Mateo were both in their rooms going through their phones but it didn't take long before Dave got bored as he let out a deep sigh before sitting up on his bed.

"I feel the same way too," Mateo said. "How about we go outside and have some fun?"

"That's a good idea but don't you think it will be better if we go to the pitch and train instead?" Dave said.

"You want to go train?"

"Yeah."

"Okay." The winger said with a shrug.

"Good, let's go then." The goalkeeper said before getting up from his bed.

The stadium for their training sessions wasn't a big one but it was okay for whatever they were going to do there.

None of the players had the idea to come train by themselves so they were the only ones there.

They started with the running of laps as always and after doing that for a while, they switched to the stretches.

After the stretches, the two did a few push-ups and sit-ups and now it was time to jump into some ball practice.

First off, Mateo tested his teammate's free-kick-stopping ability while he trained his free-kick accuracy.

After doing that for a while, the winger went to practice his dribbling while Dave practiced hitting the crossbar from twenty yards out but this time there was no quest for him and it didn't seem like he was going to get one.

He kept hitting the crossbar consecutively until he got tired of doing it and sat on the ground.

<Your shooting accuracy has really improved, from a closer range that is>

'Closer range.' The goalkeeper said subconsciously as an idea suddenly popped into his mind.

"Why don't I try making it better from the farthest range?" He muttered before getting up from the floor.

He quickly made his way to the sidelines and grabbed as many balls as he could before making his way to the goalpost.

He rolled the balls into the goalpost before dropping one at the edge of the box inside the eighteen-yard box.

He stared at the ball for a while before taking in a deep breath and letting it out.

"Here goes nothing." He said before taking four steps backward.

He stared at the ball from where he was standing for a while before he quickly closed up on the ball and sent it flying toward the goalpost on the other side of the pitch.

Mateo was still practicing his dribbling when he saw the ball zoom past him from above.

The ball kept flying toward the left side of the goalpost until it banged on the crossbar right at the angle and fell into the goalpost.

"Woah," Mateo said before turning back to see that Dave was standing inside the eighteen-yard box. "He didn't really shoot that from that far."

"Yes." The goalkeeper muttered before rolling another ball to the spot with his foot.

"Finally." The goalkeeper muttered before he quickly counted the balls he currently has with him including the one he was about to send out. "I have nine balls so I have to get five out of nine tries."

After saying that, he slowly took four steps backward before he quickly raced toward the ball and sent it flying toward the goalpost.

The ball flew toward the left side of the goalpost but this time it wasn't heading toward the crossbar.

For a second it looked like the ball was just going to fly into the goalpost but it ended up hitting the crossbar before falling over the bar.

"Wow," Mateo said, shaking his head in amazement. "Based on shooting abilities alone, he has what it takes to be a striker, scoring goals from his goalpost may end up becoming something he can do regularly. I see you've been putting a lot of effort into training, Dave."

"The wind is at it again with its problem."

<Why don't you try reducing your elevation?>

'Yeah, that could work.' He replied before dropping another ball on the spot.

He took four steps backward before he quickly closed up on the ball and sent it flying toward the goalpost.

This time the ball wasn't flying that high as he made sure to reduce the elevation and because of that the ball didn't have any problem flying into the net.

"Yes! Four more to go."

<Your accuracy level is higher than I estimated>
