My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 213 Tomorrow's Going To Be A Nice Day

The goalkeeper blinked his eyes a few times before he opened them and after doing that, he quickly turned to the side and picked up his phone to check the time.

"6:59 AM." He muttered with a surprised expression on his face before turning his gaze to Mateo to see that the winger was still fast asleep.

'That was quite intense, Catherine.' He said subconsciously before sitting up on his bed.

<Yeah, but you're starting to get the hang of it, it was quite impressive to go past three seconds after just a couple of tries>

'Yeah, but two seconds is something else, it's going to take me a lot of time to get past that one.' He replied before getting up from his bed.

<I'm certain that you will get past it soon, we'll try again tonight>

'Yeah, but before that.'

<You're giving yourself a speed boost, that's going to help but its effect isn't going to be that much>

'Small effects pile up to create a large effect.' The goalkeeper said subconsciously as he made his way to the bathroom. 'I need all the small effects I can get.' He added before pulling the door open and entering the room.

About an hour later, the two roommates were lying on their beds, the winger was going through his phone while the goalkeeper had both of his hands at the back of his head as he stared at the ceiling.

Mateo went through his phone for a while before he suddenly dropped it on the bed and quickly turned his gaze to the goalkeeper.

"Aren't you planning on going anywhere today?" He asked.

"Do you want to go somewhere?" The goalkeeper asked with his gaze still on the ceiling.

"Um….not exactly, I was just wondering if we could go for a stroll like we did the other day, we're going to have our training session late in the evening so we don't have to worry about it for now." The winger expressed.

Dave was quiet for a while before he slowly turned his gaze to him and sat up on his bed.

"Sure, let's go." He said.

Just like the first time, they ignored everywhere they had gotten a good look at and decided to check out the places they hadn't been to before.

Taking a look at the new places took them about an hour to complete and now, they were starting to make their way back, and just as they came across the large sports equipment shop, Mateo paused for a few seconds to glance at the building.

"Is there a problem?" Dave asked.

"No, it's nothing," The winger said before turning his gaze back to the goalkeeper.

"You know we can go take a look at the shop if you want to." The goalkeeper said.

"No, let's keep going, it's pointless to go in there when we don't need to get anything there, it's a waste of time." The winger said before walking ahead of him.

"Okay," Dave said with an awkward expression on his face.

"Hey!!" The players heard someone tell from across the road and quickly turned their gaze to the area to see that it was the blonde-haired girl.

She quickly made her way across the road and was now standing in front of the players.

"I wasn't expecting to see you two out here today." She said with a bright smile on her face.

She was putting on a yellow dress with a black jacket on top and a small bag with a hand made out of little designed chains hanging over her shoulder.

"We just came out for a little walk," Dave said.

"Okay, you guys are quite inseparable." She said. "I watched the highlights of the match last night, to be honest, I didn't expect you guys to bully them like that, you were the number one bully." She added before turning her gaze to Mateo.

"I had to do what I had to do." The winger said.

"Yeah."

"You look like you're going somewhere." He said.

And just like that, Dave was completely cut out from the conversation.

"Yeah, it's some kind of seminar for aspiring law students." She said before checking the time on her watch. "I have to get going now."

"Okay." The winger said.

"Good luck in your match against Barcelona tomorrow but that doesn't mean you guys still won't get trashed by them." She said as she walked away from them.

Mateo kept his gaze on her until she took the turn to the right junction and disappeared out of sight.

The two were about to continue their walk to the hotel when the goalkeeper felt his phone begin to vibrate in his pocket.

He quickly brought out the phone to see that it was his wife.

"Hello, Mrs. Richards." He said after picking up the call and placing the phone against his ear.

"Mrs. Richards." She said with a little chuckle.

"How are you?" He asked before he continued walking down the road with Mateo taking the lead now.

"I'm fine, what about you?" She asked.

"I'm okay."

"And Mateo?" She asked.

"He's fine too, we're heading back to the hotel together now." The goalkeeper replied.

"Okay."

"So, what's up? You sound really excited today."

"I sound excited?"

"Yeah, you're almost chuckling with every single thing you say." He said.

"Okay, why don't you take a guess?" She asked.

"You know I'm not good at guessing, Emma."

"Just try."

"I don't even know where to start, just tell me what it is." He said.

"Fine, I'm coming to Spain tomorrow, Barcelona specifically, Camp Nou to be more precise." She said,

"Camp Nou? Does this have something to do with work?" He asked.

"Yeah, the match is stirring up quite a reaction from people online so my boss asked me to head there tomorrow and see how things play out and also talk to a few players, especially the big ones in the Barcelona squad." She expressed.

"That's nice, but you're going to head back as soon as the match is over."

"Yeah," She replied.

"It will be nice to see you there."

"Yeah, Emilia is coming too." She said.

"Emilia?" He said with a confused expression on his face.

"Yeah."

"I thought she wasn't a sports reporter." He said.

"She's one now, they needed to fill in the space after two of the workers in that department resigned so she volunteered for it and got it." She explained.

"So she finally did it, that's good for her." The goalkeeper said.

"Yeah." She replied. "Um….I have to take care of something urgent, I'll call you back or you can just call me back later."

After saying that, she ended the call and the goalkeeper had to return his phone to his pocket.

He had already gotten to the hotel but Mateo wasn't there as he had already gone inside.

'Catherine.' He called.

<Yeah>

'Tomorrow's going to be a nice day.'
