The three were having their breakfast together now as Dave kept wondering what Emma bought with his credit card.
Only fifty euros left his account which meant that she didn't buy anything expensive just like she said but he was quite curious to know what she bought with it although he wasn't going to ask her directly.
Emma had already dressed up for work before coming downstairs so that after she was done with breakfast, she would leave immediately for work.
"Your cooking is magnificent Mrs. Smith," Dave said after finishing his meal.
"Thank you." Martha smiled.
"Emma's trying, but she still has a long way to go, she's still an amateur in cooking." The goalkeeper said. "I think my cooking tastes better than hers."
"That does it," Emma said before slamming her right hand on the table.
Dave was a bit startled by that but he knew he was going to get something like that for annoying her.
"You know, my mom's going to leave on Friday and then you'll start making your own meals which taste better than mine just like you've described." She expressed with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
<You shouldn't have said that>
The room suddenly fell silent as she took down her glass of water and dropped the empty glass on the table before picking up her handbag.
"Clean up the table, Dave." She said before walking past her husband as she made her way to the door.
She left through the door without even saying bye and ten seconds later, the door was pushed open by her.
"Um....hey, sweetie, do you mind driving me to work?" Her voice went from serious to warm and sweet.
"Sure, it's not like I have anything urgent to attend to." The goalkeeper said before getting up from his seat.
"Cool, let's go then, I'm with your keys." She said before raising the bunch of keys so that he wouldn't start going around looking for it.
"I'll be back Mrs. Smith." He said before he began to make his way to the door.
"Bye, mom," Emma said.
"Sure, you two take your time," Martha said before taking a sip from her cup of tea.
"Hey, those things you said in there, you didn't mean them right?" Dave said as the both of them made their way to the car.
"No, I meant every single one of it," Emma said before opening the door to the front passenger seat. "You'll start making your breakfast, lunch, and dinner after my mom is gone and I won't be bothered to help you out."
"Okay, that's fine by me." The goalkeeper said before entering the car.
"Huh?" She said with a confused expression on her face.
"Your belly is going to start getting big soon, and when that happens your movements are going to become restricted and I won't bother about helping you with things around the house." He said before starting the car.
"Hey, that's not fair, you did this to me, you have to take responsibility for it." She pouted before folding her arms.
"You're going to be the one to start it." He said before he drove into the road and zoomed off toward her workplace.
"And you won't even help me with food, so you want a malnourished child now." She said,
"No, I'll make sure you eat well for the sake of my child but everything else you'll have to take care of yourself." The goalkeeper said. "Of course, that depends on if you will leave me to make my meal by myself on a day that I have a match to play."
"Fine, you have a deal." She said before rolling her eyes and letting out a deep sigh.
"Good girl." He said before turning to her with a smile on his face.
The drive to her workplace wasn't that long, it took them only nineteen minutes to get there and now it was time for her to step down from the car.
"You'll have to come pick me up, remember." She said before opening the door.
"Yeah, but by what time?" He asked.
"6:30 PM." She said. "But there's a chance that you'll have to wait a little longer if you come that early."
"7:00 PM got it." The goalkeeper said.
"If you make me wait for you here for thirty minutes, you won't hear the end of it tonight." She said before bringing one foot down.
"Maybe I should adjust it a bit to 6:45 PM." He said.
"Yeah, maybe."
She was about to fully step down from the car when Dave quickly grabbed her by the face and pulled her closer for a kiss.
"You can't just leave without a goodbye kiss." He said after pulling out from the kiss.
"Yeah." She said before stepping down from the car.
"I'll see you later then, and make sure you don't doze off at work." He said before he quickly turned his car around and zoomed off.
He was still on the road when he received a text message from Mateo.
He had a pouch for his phone in his car, a place where he could place his phone and be able to read text messages and answer calls without touching the phone.
'Hey, Dave, I'm heading over to your place now.' He read the message subconsciously.
"Hey, Google." He said as the google assistant home screen quickly popped up on his phone.
"Hello, how can I help you?" The feminine assistant's voice asked.
'You know, I've never really realized it, but she sounds so much like you, Cat.'
<It's not funny>
"Send a message to Mateo on WhatsApp." He said.
"Okay, what's the message?" The assistant asked as the input box was brought up.
"I just dropped Emma off to work, I'm on my way back now." The goalkeeper said.
"Sending message to Mateo." The assistant said. "Sent."
"Alright, Thank you."
"Helping you out is what I am here for."
'I didn't know comparing you to the google voice assistant will get you riled up.'
<I am not riled up but you should know that I am nothing like the google assistant>
'Yeah, but you guys basically do the same job except that you can't help me handle my text messages like that."
<You're done annoying Emma and now you want to face me?>
'No, it's nothing like that at all, it's just that there are some things the google assistant can do that you can't.'
<Like sending a simple message over text or any other messaging app?>
'Yeah, that.'
<You underestimate me, I think I'm just going to take over your phone and get you in trouble>
As soon as she said that, the screen of Dave's phone went blank as the word sync began to blink on it before a load bar appeared.
'Are you the one doing this, Catherine?' He asked subconsciously but there was no response from her.
The screen loaded up from zero to one hundred before returning to normal and as soon as that happened, WhatsApp opened up on its own and entered his chat with Emma.
"Are you the one doing this, Catherine? What do you want to do?"
There was no response from her as she began to type something.
A horrid look slowly appeared on the goalkeeper's face as he quickly read what she was writing.
'No, Catherine, you can't send that to her!'
