"I'm still waiting." She said before moving closer to him with that fiery look in her eyes getting more intense.

Dave couldn't help but flinch backward a little.

"Um...I just went outside to look around a little." He said.

He tried to sound confident while saying that but he just couldn't get that nervous look off his face.

Emma didn't say anything for a little while and just stared at him before taking a step closer to him.

She still had that look on her face which was a clear indication that she didn't buy what he just said.

"Do I look like a fool to you?"

Her voice sounded normal before but now it had just changed to her angry voice a bit.

"No, you look like my beautiful and lovely wife, Emma." He said. "That is because you are my beautiful and lovely wife who hardly ever gets mad."

"Dave." She grumbled.

"You saw me coming down from upstairs, didn't you?" He said.

"Yeah." She replied. "So, where did you go?"

"Nowhere in particular, I just went back and forth between here and the park, it was just a little exercise." He replied.

"A little exercise? In your condition, Dave?" She said as the goalkeeper slowly put his head down. "You know you're not supposed to be moving around that much, are you trying to make things worse for yourself?"

"Of course I'm not, that's the last thing that I would want." He said after quickly raising his gaze.

"Then, why are you always doing stupid things?"

Their gaze met at that moment and they stayed like that for a while before he slowly put his head down.

"You're right, that was stupid." He muttered.

Emma stared at her for a while before she let out a deep sigh and got closer to the couch to sit beside him.

The next thing the goalkeeper felt was his right ankle being placed on the table.

"Hey, don't move." She said before shooting a glare at him.

"Okay." He muttered.

She reached for the ankle support brace on his ankle and slowly removed it to reveal his ankle which was less swollen than it was the last time she checked.

"Looks like it's healing just fine, you should be back to normal in a day or two." She said after placing her hand on the slightly swollen area.

Dave could see that she had a smile on her face as she said that, but just as she turned her gaze back to him, that smile vanished.

"I know you're probably going to do whatever you want to do after I leave for work but I'm still going to tell you this one last time, stop doing stupid things." She spelled out for him.

"I won't do anything stupid, I promise." He said.

"Yeah, like the one you didn't do this morning." She said. "What if something bad had happened to you to the extent that you end up making the injury worse to the extent that you won't be able to return to football?

"What would you do, or most especially, what would you tell your unborn children? That you were a goalkeeper that was finally starting to enjoy a long spell in his career but because you decided to do stupid things which your wife told you to avoid doing, you ended up ending your brilliant career at the young age of twenty-one."

"Damn, you sound just like my mother with those words." The goalkeeper muttered.

"I do?"

He wanted to say that just as a thought, but he ended up muttering it and she ended up hearing it.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring back memories like that for you." She said before slowly putting her head down.

"Hey, don't act like that."

"Huh?"

"I'm not going to start acting all sad and stuff just because you brought back a memory of my mother, my memories of her scolding me just like you're doing now warms my heart."

"It does." She said as her eyes suddenly brightened up.

"Yeah, making up bad scenarios that may prevail because of the stupid things I did, some of them were quite scary and that was the reason why it always worked." He said before looking up at the ceiling.

'I just wish you were here, mom, to see my career start to blossom, to see me get married to this wonderful young woman, and to see your grandchildren.' He said subconsciously.

"So, you did a lot of stupid things as a child," Emma said as the reminiscence atmosphere Dave created in the room suddenly dispersed.

"Yeah." He replied before placing his left hand on the back of his head.

"Well, I'm not surprised." She said before she slowly began to put back the ankle support brace on his ankle. "Don't expect me to scold you all the time."

"Hey, I was just a child."

"Yeah, that's the reason why you shouldn't expect me to scold you all the time now that you're an adult." She said before getting up from the couch.

"Oh, yeah."

"I'm going to go get breakfast ready, don't move from there." She said before she began to make her way to the kitchen.

"Okay, ma'am."

"What was that?" She said before quickly turning her gaze back to him.

"Nothing." He said as he shook his head.

She kept her gaze on him for a while and let out a sigh before she turned and continued her walk to the kitchen.

As soon as she was done, the two ate breakfast together before Emma went upstairs to get ready for work.

It took her about twenty minutes to come downstairs putting on her black suit.

"You always look nice in that suit," Dave said as she made her way to him.

"Thank you." She smiled before she leaned closer to him and kissed him.

"I hope you're coming back early today." He said.

"I don't know, maybe." She said before turning her gaze to his car key which was lying on the table. "Can I borrow your car for today?"

"Well, I won't be using it for anything in my condition so, sure." He replied with a nod.

"Thank you, dear." She wrapped her arms around him in a hug before she picked up the key and turned her gaze back to him. "I'll be on my way now."

"Okay, have a nice day at work." He said.

"You have a nice day too, and don't do anything stupid." She said before opening the door.

"I won't." He said with a smile on his face.

"Hmph." She smiled before closing the door.

The goalkeeper heard the sound of the car engine as she started the car, he was quiet as he listened to the car get driven out of the area, and as soon as it was out of earshot, everywhere suddenly became silent and he let out a deep sigh before slumping down on the couch.

<Your ankle's starting to get better, you'll be back to yourself tomorrow but your leg is going to feel a little weird to you until maybe Tuesday>

'I didn't ask you about that.' He said subconsciously before he picked up his crutch and got up from the couch.

The match between Troham United and Zetoro United was already going on and if Troham United should win that match, they would climb above Unique FC on the table and that meant that they would drop to fourth place.

Just as the goalkeeper was about to start heading toward wherever he wanted to go, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket.

He reached for his pocket and brought out his phone to see that it was just a message from his service providers, but that wasn't the only thing that was there to see.

He pinned the match between Troham United and Zetoro United on his home screen and now he could see that Troham United were leading with two goals with only fifteen minutes gone in the match.

"Two goals in three minutes, I guess dropping to fourth place is inevitable for us." He said before putting his phone back into his pocket.

<Lesica United are facing off against Tereville United tonight you know>

'Yeah, dropping to fifth place is inevitable, Lesica United are going to butcher Tereville no doubt about that.'

<Based on form, you're right, but Dynamo FC just beat you guys while you were in a slightly better form than them>

'Yeah, I guess you're right.'

He was about to start heading toward the kitchen when he heard a knock on the door.

"It's open."

After saying that, the door was suddenly pushed open for Mateo to walk into the house.

"Mateo." The goalkeeper said as a smile suddenly appeared on his face.

"Hey, Dave." The winger said.

"What are you doing here?"

"Well, I knew you would be left alone once my sister leaves for work, so I decided to come keep you company." He said before sticking both of his hands into his pockets.

"We?" The goalkeeper said with a confused expression on his face.

As soon as he said that, Clark suddenly popped up at the front door.

"Clark?"

"Yeah, it's me," Clark said. "What Mateo just told you isn't the only reason why I am here."

"Then, what is the other reason?"

"Well, let's just say I have big news for you."

"Big news?" The goalkeeper muttered.
