Chapter 580
Chapter 580 Dave's hand was wrapped around Konrad's neck, tightening as he lifted him off the ground.
But Konrad, instead of struggling, only let out a dark, twisted laugh.
"Kukuku!"
Then, before anyone could react, he vanished, slipping from Dave's grasp in a wisp of dark mist.
"So, it's just a clone," Dave muttered to himself.
He had sensed that something was strange about Konrad from the start but chose to pretend he didn't notice.
Though he didn't have his sin powers with him, his chaotic form allowed him to see the hidden energies and essences within every living being.
Konrad's soul had revealed a truly sinister nature—so dark and corrupted that it could only belong to a demon.
Dave's mind pieced it all together: the real Konrad must have been gone for years, and some dark force, perhaps a demon, had taken over his body.
Yet, even now, Dave didn't see the demon as a threat. His confidence stayed firm as he looked on, waiting for whatever would happen next.
The Wizard Kings and others around him, however, were clearly shaken.
Sarah, who had been watching beside him, hurried forward, her expression full of worry.
"What just happened?" she asked, glancing back and forth between Dave and where Konrad had disappeared.
All eyes were on Dave and the sky above, where something strange began to unfold.
Konrad's form reappeared, floating high above them, his eyes now a fierce, glowing red. Black wings stretched from his back, casting an eerie shadow below him.
Raising his hands with a twisted smile, he summoned a portal, dark and swirling. One by one, hideous, monstrous shapes began stepping through, filling the sky.
Every demon that emerged had a terrifying, otherworldly form, each one more monstrous than the last. A thick, shimmering barrier formed around the arena, trapping everyone inside.
"A demon…! Konrad is a demon!" shouted one of the wizards, his voice trembling with disbelief.
Elder Koro, a powerful wizard and Konrad's own grandfather, looked up at the demonized form of Konrad with horror. "Konrad!" he called out desperately, still clinging to the hope that some part of his grandson was there. But the figure floating in the sky only sneered.
"Kufufu... poor old man," the demon said in a voice that dripped with malice. "Your precious Konrad died years ago. You never even knew. I've been acting as him all this time."
Elder Koro looked as if he'd been struck. His mind raced back to five years ago, when he had sent Konrad to fight at the border of the Devil Continent.
Konrad had returned victorious, with tales of valor against the demons, and everyone celebrated him.
But now, the horrible truth became clear: his grandson had likely died back then, his body taken over by a demon who had merely pretended to be him all this time.
"Ah, I understand now," Dave spoke up calmly, his eyes narrowing.
"You're part of the Phantom Demon clan."
The demon laughed, an ugly, distorted sound. "Clever boy," he sneered. "Yes, the Phantom Demons. We don't have bodies of our own, but we're quite good at borrowing them."
He stretched out his arms as if showing off his stolen form. "And we're more than happy to replace those who stand in our way."
Dave knew well enough about the Phantom Demons.
They were notorious for stealing bodies, their specialty being to take over strong warriors and magical beings from other races, which made them feared by all.
Other demon clans hated them for this ability, but thanks to Belphegor, the Demon King of Greed, the Phantom Demons had protection within the Abyss, the dark underworld where demons lived.
The Phantom King is a powerful demon lord who serves Belphegor.
He holds the third rank among the demon lords, which shows just how strong he really is.
The Phantom Clan was once famous throughout the Abyss, known for their incredible abilities.
However, they faced a lot of danger from other demons who feared their skills and wanted to wipe them out.
Despite being strong, the Phantom Clan was almost completely destroyed by these other demons because they were considered a serious threat.
They were hunted down for their power, which made them both respected and hated.
In the midst of this chaos, Belphegor, who recognized their greed and potential, decided to offer them a chance to survive by taking them under his command.
At first, the Phantom King did not want to accept Belphegor's offer. He wanted to keep his independence and lead his clan without outside control.
However, Belphegor is a very powerful demon king, and he forces the Phantom King into submission.
After being defeated in battle, the Phantom King had no choice but to agree to serve Belphegor, accepting the position of loyalty that came with it.

Turning his red gaze to Dave, the demon inside Konrad's body smiled darkly. "Allow me to introduce myself," he announced, his voice now echoing through the barrier.
"I am Arch Demon Harata, a proud member of the Phantom Demon clan, servant to the great Demon Lord of Greed-Phantom King."
Gasps of horror echoed from those around them.
An Arch Demon was no ordinary creature; his power was Demi-God level based on Dave's assessment.
Such strength would be enough to bring destruction on a grand scale. But as Harata fixed his fierce gaze on Dave, he found no trace of fear, only a calm, steady confidence.
'This boy is an anomaly.'
"What are we going to do?" Sarah whispered beside Dave, her face pale and hands trembling slightly.
Dave just chuckled. "Don't worry," he said, his voice calm and even.
"He's nowhere near strong enough to cause any trouble for me."
Hearing this, Harata's expression twisted with rage.
"How dare you!" he spat, anger blazing in his red eyes.
He raised his hands, and with a flick of his fingers, summoned ten demons from the portal, each one radiating dark power.
Before Dave could respond, a tall figure in dark armor appeared beside him, kneeling with respect.
"My lord," the figure spoke, his voice deep and unwavering, "let me handle this one."
Dave glanced down. It was Xegron, his loyal shadow warrior, who had served him without question.
Xegron was able to move through shadows, a skill he used to his advantage in battle. Yet, it was rare for him to request a fight outright.
Dave raised an eyebrow, amused.
"Feeling hungry, are you, Xegron?" he asked with a grin.
Xegron nodded, a wicked gleam in his eye.
"Yes, my lord. I feel I would gain much from devouring this Phantom Demon."
Dave thought for a moment, then shrugged. "Very well. Do as you please."
Xegron wasted no time. In a blink, he disappeared, only to reappear in front of Harata, his dark hand clamping around the demon's throat with a force that made Harata gasp.
The demons who had followed Harata through the portal froze in shock.
They had believed their leader to be unbeatable, yet here he was, helpless in the grip of this shadowy figure.
