Reaper of the Martial World

Chapter Book 11: 88: Fear (3)

Book 11: Chapter 88: Fear (3)

Dyon didn’t hesitate to [Devour] Famine’s balance scale. But this time, he didn’t let Famine’s body disappear before casting [Devour] on it as well.

Through gritted teeth, he focused on separating the famine qi into two, madly absorbing the white satiating qi. As expected, his practically half-dead body began to slowly heal.

At the same time, the black qi Dyon believed held the source of hunger and famine began almost entirely inert.

‘This is it…’ Dyon thought as he weakly propped himself up. ‘… Their qi is their will. The Concept of Balance of Momentum are only underlying foundations that they lay in order to give birth to these qis… If I want to comprehend War’s will, I need to first understand the secrets behind his war qi…’

It was like this a maddening battle began. Maybe if there had been other spectators, this would have been a legend written into history books. However, those three voices seemed almost completely numb.

Dyon had no idea, but this was a scene the Immortal Plane had become all too familiar with.

That man’s name shook the Immortal Plane to even this very day. He had never had a Clan nor a Sect to his back, yet he forced them all into submission. He did as he pleased without regard for the thoughts of others. There were only nine periods during his reign where he was mellow and calm… But the times directly following those periods made the hearts of countless trillions tremble with fear.

As Dyon fought with War and Famine, and shattered Conquest time and time again, it felt as though the shadows of that man and he were becoming completely inseparable.

This sort of impossible trial, was there anyone else but him who could pass it?

The qi Dyon wielded continuously grew in strength. Soon, it began to matter less and less that his cultivation had regressed to the lower celestial realm.

What was qi cultivation if not the steady improvement of one’s qi? Who said one needed to strictly follow from essence to saint to celestial to enigmatic qi? Wouldn’t you grow just as powerful if you replaced these qis with another just as powerful?

The more Dyon came to comprehend war qi, the stronger the qi within his body grew. Soon, his cultivation realm became nearly irrelevant. The qi he was wielding was beyond anything to ever appear on the mortal plane.

It was a continuous cycle that would madden people…

Snatch Famine’s white qi to heal himself… Battle War into a half-dead state and devour his qi… Shatter Conquest into a rain of blood and flesh.

Dyon lost count of how many rounds he had fought. At some point, instead of leaping entire quarter realms, the horsemen that appeared only took a single step forward.

It was the middle celestial realm… then the higher… then the peak… then the Pseudo Dao Realm… Then it was the 1st, then the 2nd, then the 3rd Dao Realms…

Who knew where Dyon got the stamina from? Maybe even he couldn’t tell you the answer to that question. All he had thoughts of was victory.

The reality was that Dyon had gone into a completely unconscious state.

Ever since Dyon awakened his Vajra Body, he hadn’t done any sort of intense training. Rather, any sort of ‘training’ he had done was entirely related to his array alchemy. There were often times where Dyon would enter selfless states and be completely unaware.

What he didn’t know was that the root of Selflessness was in the Dao Heart itself!

Dao Seed… Dao Awakening… Dao Liberation… Dao Purification… Dao Tranquility… Dao Monolith… Selfless Dao… Dao Vanity!

Dyon was already a half-step from the Selfless Dao Realm. He had already formed his Dao Monolith, his proud Vajra Body. Entering a true selfless state of cultivation, where pain was nothing but a memory and everything was within his grasp was as easy as breathing…

To soothe his Dao, to open his heart, to comprehend as he pleased… This was his ability.

Since the start of this trial, Dyon hadn’t summoned his vajra body. It wasn’t because he didn’t want to, but it was because he simply couldn’t. With his soul restricted to the divine sense realm, it couldn’t withstand the summoning of such a powerful Manifestation.

Within Dyon’s inner world, his wives, not to mention Chenglei and the beast babies, were caught between worrying for his safety and struggling through the suppresion. But even they began to notice that the suppression they felt was actually lessening with each passing moment.

Dyon’s cultivation didn’t rise from the lower celestial realm, yet everything about his inexplicably strengthened. Dyon hadn’t believed that it was possible for his foundation to grow any stronger, yet this was the very reality before him now.

Not only did the bottleneck of Dyon’s Titan Diamond Body loosen even further and his Eternity’s Balance Constitution grow to astounding heights, but as he slowly comprehended qi in a fashion he never had before, his Silver Mirror Constitution was blooming as well.

With a roar, yet another Conquest fell. Dyon could hardly tell what his cultivation realm was because his divine sense was too weak. But he probably should have been near the peak dao realm.

Dyon’s breath felt no different from scalding water vapor clinging to his throat and lungs. His vision was so dim now that he could barely see his surroundings in faint lights and shadows.

However, despite this, the creaking of yet another opening door fell upon his ears as Famine’s door opened once more.

Dyon immediately realized there was something different about this Famine. The emotions hidden behind its helm… They were too real…

But this was only part of the issue because behind this emotion… Or maybe it was the entire emotion itself?… There was nothing but fear.

Famine… Feared him?

Why?

It was then Dyon suddenly remembered something. Those three voices that hadn’t spoken in so long… Could they be the true horsemen?
