Chapter 1611: Planet Grotia
When Ning left Mexol, he was given two options of where he could go to.
The first was a planet back in the direction of where he had come from, far in the tail end of the galaxy.
The other option was also at the tail end of the galaxy but in the other direction. Since that was the general direction of where Ning had been headed all this time, he decided to choose
that option.
So, Ning arrived at the mountain ranges to the east of the Grand Duchy of Moliya, in the Onyx Continent, of the planet Grotia.
The beautiful mountain ranges were devoid of any humans this far to the east, with only regular animals being around for dozens upon dozens of kilometers around him.
Ning took in the fresh air of the mountain ranges. "I've missed this," he said. The oceanic air of Moonhaven just didn't have this sort of freshness to it.
After a few seconds of enjoying the air, he finally paid his attention back to what he was doing there. "Alright then, system. Let's start. What is it that I will have to do?" he asked.
The system had updated, so it was time to learn what this weird task he had to do was.
<Since you have accepted the Creator's task, please let the System make the preparations.> "Okay..." Ning said, curious.
He was teleported away right after saying that, arriving somewhere underground. He was confined to the dirt, unable to move.
"What is happening?" he asked.
<For this experiment, you will not be using your real body, but rather a new body created solely for this purpose.>
Ning was somewhat surprised to hear that. "A new body? Why can't I use my current body?" he asked.
<There are too many modifications to your current body that are not fair to this experiment. So you will be using a new body entirely> frёewebnoѵēl.com
Ning frowned. "I don't mind that, but what about my Energy?" he asked. "A regular body won't be able to hold this much energy. It will get destroyed or I will lose all the Energy gathered."
<The System had thought of that as well>
Ning was quite curious now. He said nothing and simply waited for the system to do whatever it was that it was doing. A while later, he suddenly found himself blinking open his eyes underneath a tree, next to a small dirt road.
"System?" Ning asked, confused. He didn't feel himself teleporting. Had his consciousness been shifted here without him realizing it?
He looked down at himself and saw that he wore a simple shirt and pants with a woolen blazer over it. He touched his head and found a hat on it.
"System, is this my new body?" Ning asked.
<This is indeed your new body>
Ning felt himself. He was so weak. He tried out his powers to see if he could do anything. He couldn't teleport, or fly away, or turn invisible.
He pinched his cheeks to see how strong he was.
"Ow! Why am I feeling pain?" Ning asked. He never made a body that could feel pain.
<Your new body contains pain receptors>
"You should have made one without it," Ning said. "What happened to all my energy? Or my other body for that matter."
<Your energy is with your other body. It is safe.>
Ning nodded for a second and then paused. "What? How does that make any sense?"
How could the Energy be with his other body while he was here? He was the energy. The system and the energy were both him, so how could they be separated?
The system had an answer for that as well.
<That is because the real you, the one with the system and energy are both in the other body> Ning paused. "Huh?"
<This body of yours is a vessel you are controlling from a distance. It acts very much like your own real body but is not. Your actual body, the Energy, is tucked away in the underground in the eastern mountain ranges>
Ning took a while to comprehend what was happening. "I could always do that?" he asked. <No. A body needs a spirit to move, and as a host of the Energy system, you are not allowed any direct control over a spirit. However, for this experiment, some of those rules are changed to facilitate the requirements>
<As such, you are now given a body to control that has the closest thing to a soul>
Ning's eyes widened. "Not a spirit? A soul?" he asked. "I have a soul right now?"
<A facsimile of one, but yes>
Ning was stunned. He never expected himself to have a soul. "The Creator has always been so serious about not messing with souls or spirits. What changed now?" he asked.
<No comment>
"Alright," Ning said. It wasn't like he was expecting an answer. "So, what is the experiment exactly?"
<All necessary information will be transferred to you in a moment. You may look through it after you receive it>
<The experiment will begin in 3 minutes when a carriage arrives from your right>
<Please take note that during this experiment, the Energy System will not be available to you, but you will have a new system to go through.>
<You are free to give up at any moment you please. If you last the entire 3 years of the experiment, you will receive a reward from the Creator>
"I won't give up!" Ning said with a grand smile.
<Good Luck>
As soon as the system's words faded, information flowed into his brain all at once. There was
so much of it coming into his mind that it took him a while to fully contain it all.
By the time all the information had flowed into mind, the horse-drawn carriage had made its way up to him from the right.
The carriage stopped right before him and a head popped out from within the carriage. It was a young man, around 15 years of age. "Hey friend, where are you headed?"
Ning stood up, dusting himself off. He looked at the young man with a face full of smiles. "I am on my way to Whitebridge city," he answered. "I got tired and fell asleep here. Could I request for a ride?"
The young man's head went back inside for a bit and it came out again. "Sure, come on in." Ning thanked the young man and went onto the carriage, getting a sense at that moment of just how weak a 'real' human was. Just getting into the carriage felt like a chore. Inside the carriage were 3 men, one of which was the young man. He seemed like a young nobleman and the other two were his guards. The two guards stared at him, less glaring, and more making sure he did not do something to hurt their young master.
Ning could understand.
"Once again, thank you for taking me in, friend."
"I am Brenn Non Garreston," the young man said, giving out his hand for a shake.
Ning shook his hand. "I am Ning Ruogong."
"Oh, what do you do, sir Ning?" the young man asked.
The new words simply flowed out of Ning's mouth as if he had spoken them a thousand times
over.
"I'm a Spirit Detective."
