When he noticed the wound in the half lizard, half gorilla monster's chest, Kaizen's calm expression changed to one of uncertainty, and he hesitated for a moment.

Kaizen had a skill called <Advanced Healing>, which allowed him to heal as much as a healing mage or cleric could for a proportionate amount of his mana. In other words, if he wanted to heal someone badly, it would take a lot of his mana, but if he healed just a little, it would take little of his MP. This skill was very rare, but it was also used once a day, so healing a monster that was trying to kill him was a foolish and risky idea.

However, since he couldn't think of any other solution to the challenge at hand, and since he was tired of being transported back to the dark cave, Kaizen decided to risk healing this creature. Concentrating on his healing ability, he extended his left hand toward the monster and felt a comforting warmth spread through his body as the ability was activated. Then, greenish particles that smelled like spring began to emerge from his fingertips.

The monster that was still trying to attack him froze for a moment, looking confused by what was happening. Then, slowly, the wounds on its body began to heal as a greenish aura enveloped it, and Kaizen watched in fascination as the monster's scaly skin quickly closed and healed.

When the use of the skill was complete, the monster moved away, looking puzzled. Confused, it looked at Kaizen for a moment, and the Psyker no longer saw the anger he had seen in the creature's eyes before. Soon after, the monster turned its body slightly to the side and then ran off into the darkness of the cave.

Kaizen stood and watched the creature disappear, wondering for a moment if he had made the right decision, after all, nothing happened. However, the relief he felt at not being transported back into the dark cave was enough to make him think that maybe he had done the right thing.

After a few moments, a door appeared in the air, its runes glowing red. Kaizen approached the door and it opened, revealing the darkness into which he had reappeared.

On the other side of the door, Psyker found the old man again, a satisfied smile on his face.

"Congratulations! You managed to pass the test!" he said.

This made Kaizen look to his left and see that Linus was back with him, only he was so covered in blood and scratches that the brim of his hat was torn off, and from a beige color his hat was now almost red.

"I knew you were brave and skilled enough to overcome any of the challenges I suggested. However, I decided to test something more essential for both of you, lest you forget what is most beautiful in each of your hearts. The man continued.

Kaizen was a bit confused, "What exactly does that mean?"

The old man shrugged. "Who knows? Reflect on your challenges and sooner or later, you will find the answer to questions like this. Maybe you already know, you just refuse to believe it. But that's not important right now. You have passed the test, for then you will receive something of value."

Linus looked suspiciously at the old man. "What do you mean 'something of value'?"

The man smiled. "You were the first to successfully complete my challenge. Most warriors would try to kill me and fail miserably. Others would not even return after passing through the challenge gates. And most didn't even respond to my call. You deserve this for overcoming my challenge."

Kaizen seemed even more curious than Linus, for his eyes were shining with excitement. "HEHE! And where is this treasure?" He asked, trying to hide his excitement.

The old man pointed to a door on the opposite wall. "The door to my vault is over there. You can open it now. And whatever is inside is yours."

Without a second thought, Kaizen walked toward the door, feeling the excitement rising in his chest. On the other hand, Linus looked suspicious. It was unnatural for a supernatural being with as much power as this old man manifested to hand over all his treasures like that. Nevertheless, Linus went in the same direction as Kaizen, and when he looked back for a second, he realized that the old man had already disappeared.

Kaizen and Linus approached the door and observed the runes surrounding it. With a deep breath, Kaizen pushed the door open and it creaked.

Inside was a dark and dusty room, but unlike what Kaizen had imagined, the room was not covered with mountains of gold coins. In fact, the room was completely empty. In the middle of the room was a wooden box, and since it was the only thing there, they slowly approached it.

When Kaizen lifted the lid of the box, their eyes widened as they saw that what was inside was a ring with a greenish stone in the center.

"What is that?" Linus asked curiously.

"I'm not sure," Kaizen replied as she picked up the ring. "But it looks important."

Immediately, Kaizen used <Analyzing Eye> on the ring.

Since the ring didn't seem to be cursed or anything like that, Kaizen decided to equip it and as soon as he put the ring on his finger, he felt an energy coursing through his body.
