Sorcerer’s Handbook
Chapter 165: Prisons Top Priority Conservation SpeciesTurning the tables!
Since Ashe couldn’t avoid the four grim reapers, he decided not to hide anymore. In fact, he even thought about using them to his own advantage.
And Ashe was right. Although the recent Outer Realm invasion was indeed the best opportunity to escape in a long time, he wasn’t very anxious. After all, the Virtual Realm had already guaranteed his safety.
It was like when a Professor assures you that you’ll pass the exam before you even take it. You wouldn’t hand in a blank paper, but you could confidently skip a few questions you didn’t recognize, knowing that even if your test scores weren’t great, the Professor would adjust your coursework grades to ensure you passed.
However, for Igor and the others, Ashe’s status had catapulted from a ‘disposable mocking minion’ to a ‘Prison’s top priority conservation species.’ After all, sticking close to Ashe meant a smooth escape from the Blood Moon. They were too busy protecting him to even think about using him as expendable bait.
But then…
“Do you really think that everything mentioned in Destiny’s Inquiry is bound to happen?” Langna said calmly. “The only absolute in the Destiny Faction is that destiny is never absolute.”
Ronald spread his hands. “Plus, you can’t prove you’ve actually encountered Destiny’s Inquiry. Even if you, Ashe, are willing to stake your reputation, the Cult Leader doesn’t seem to have much of a reputation to speak of, right?”
Harvey nodded in agreement. “Even if Destiny’s Inquiry is real, and you really do escape the Blood Moon, that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be alive. Even if you become a corpse, I can still take you away from the Blood Moon.”
Igor delivered the final blow. “Compared to taking you out as a whole living person, wouldn’t it be more efficient to kill you, divide you into four boxes, and carry you as talismans?”Damn, their logic was so sound!
Ashe, whose bluff had been called, hung his head in dejection. Unseen by him, the four exchanged a quick glance, silently reaching a consensus.
“Huh?”
The tent flap was suddenly thrown open, and a tall Orc sniper walked in.
He was not masked, with one eye mechanical, and his shoulders, hands, knees, and waist were all equipped with gun snipers—sorcerer firearms that forgo live ammunition and must be activated with spirit energy.
The Gun Technique Sect – Eight Sniper Style!
Igor and the others immediately recognized the development direction of this Orc. It was an aggressive armament where Orcs and Ogres fused their robust physiques with Gun Technique. Multiple heavy snipers for Sorcerers were equipped, relying on spirit energy for aiming and shooting. The recoil was forcibly canceled out by distributing it throughout the body via spirits, making the shooter incredibly powerful in head-on battles, a true battlefield blade. Sorcerers below the rank of Tri-wings hardly had any Defensive Miracles that could withstand the focused fire from eight snipers.
The Orc sniper was also surprised to find the tent full of people. He quickly assessed the strength of those already present: the duo on the right bench was not to be trifled with;
The person in the middle bench emitted a grim aura of death in his “Dead Shot Tactical Eye Model 7,” best not to provoke;
On the left bench, although there were two people, one was tall and exuded confidence, while the other, looking downcast, seemed to be constipated.
In an instant, the Orc sniper identified who was the easiest target in the tent and reached straight for Ashe: “You—”
Ah, which Tea Cafe to visit? Really want to take a dump, the shrimp paste flavored Lala Fatty is quite good, when can I strike it rich—
Suddenly, the Orc sniper snapped back to reality, realizing he had been bombarded with distracting thoughts for a full two seconds, causing him to forget his situation and objective!
This was an assault from the Mind Faction!
He tried to move, but his legs were numb as if they didn’t belong to him, and a decaying, deathly aura crept up from his feet to his waist.
A bizarre miracle from the Necromancy Faction!
The Orc instinctively wanted to open fire indiscriminately, but suddenly two steel beads shot from the right, hitting him right in the eye and knee, not only blinding him temporarily but also forcing him to kneel!
Gun Technique or archery?
The Orc struggled to open a slit in his eye, only to see a whip leg sharp as a blade!
Snap!
Everything happened as fast as lightning. By the time Ashe lifted his head, all he saw was a dark figure flying backward out of the tent, unable to even scream.
He tilted his head, looking puzzled: “What just happened?”
“It’s nothing,” Igor said as he patted his shoulder in a friendly manner. “By the way, I’ve had a sudden attack of conscience. Although you’re not exactly useful, we do have a history together, so rest assured, Ashe, I won’t use you as bait. Stick with me, and I’ll lead you to victory!”
Ashe glanced at Igor, his eyes gradually lighting up as the corners of his mouth curled into a playful arc.
“So you’re saying I’m important, then?”
Igor’s expression remained unchanged: “Ashe, you really are ordinary and yet so confident…”
“If I really were useless, you’d flatter me, praise me, inflate my ego until it bursts, and then you’d kick me out to face death. On the other hand, if I am actually useful, you’d be trying to suppress my confidence so that I’d willingly work for you.” Ashe pointed at Harvey, “Don’t forget, I watched the whole process of you trying to recruit Harvey, though he didn’t fall for it.”
Harvey raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
“Oh, Ashe, feeling cocky, are we? Would you prefer to dance provocatively or to stand on your head with diarrhea— Damn, are you looking for trouble!?”
Ashe promptly flipped Igor’s hood back and furiously rubbed his head while snickering, “Come on, make a wish. I’ll try my best to fulfill it. Whoever doesn’t make a wish is a little dog, come on!”
“Ha ha ha, I knew I wasn’t wrong, Igor. You really believed me. Compared to the great unknown and dangerous future, you’d rather choose the certain future of staying by my side to protect me as we leave!”
“Did you forget that as soon as we pass through the passage, you become useless? I could order you to wait in place for 48 hours and then return to the Blood Moon.”
Ashe’s movements froze, and he sat down obediently like a good child: “Sorry, I was too arrogant.”
Igor, annoyed, tidied his hairstyle and put his hood back on. He turned to see the Cult Leader leisurely asking Langna to borrow a nail clipper, which irritated him so much he almost wished Ashe would hang himself with his own intestines.
And seriously, how is it that even a foolish man with the social skills of a toddler from the Nursery can easily see through his thoughts? Is it that I, Igor, am not clever enough, or is it that you, Ashe, are just too fierce?
Counting this time, how many times had he been outwitted by Ashe?
The fourth time, or was it the fifth?
Igor felt as if Ashe was his natural enemy and secretly made a decision that went against the principles of a con artist: This one cannot be allowed to live; the moment we leave the Blood Moon, that Cult Leader must be taken care of!
The day we leave the Blood Moon will be the day Ashe is buried!
In the meantime, several people attempted to enter the fifth tent but were turned away. Soon, the voice of a goblin announced, “Team formation time has ended, random teams may now come out.”
Ashe’s group of five exited the tent and looked up to see three figures standing on a high platform.
“All random teams are fully assembled,” the goblin nodded with satisfaction. “Next, we’ll proceed with the blessing segment. To my left is Acolyte Coir, sent by the Church, whose team of priests will bestow the Blood Moon blessing upon you all.”
Acolyte Coir, dressed in a white robe with golden trim, was tall and striking, yet with a cute appearance. Her round face adorned with baby fat was so endearing it made you want to pinch her cheeks. She shyly nodded to the adventurers, with a large grey wolf wagging its tail behind her.
“And to my right, this hunter is someone you all must recognize, none other than Gerard Wessminster of the Sin Hunter’s Hall Enforcement Squad—”
Upon hearing this, all five members of Ashe’s group simultaneously retreated back into the tent.
