Basically, most parts about this book were completely and utterly normal, with the exception that Eisen used Mana-Crystal thread made of mana-crystals enchanted with Dragoon’s special Appraisal ability. And well, he also had Caria try and wove in some parts of other thread, enchanted with Dragoon’s Database ability, into the actual paper as she was making it, but in the end he could work on everything like it was just any normal book.
The part that would turn this item into one that was actually useable in the way that the young Changeling described it was a small lense that Eisen would place onto the front of the book. It would be constantly attached to the book via some string, both to make it easier to transfer the information onto the paper and also to make sure that the lense would be hard to lose. It was the center-piece for this item, after all.
When it came to the lense itself, Eisen actually made it out of glass mixed with some mana crystal, once more enchanted with the special appraisal ability, and it had a simple High-Iron ring with a few very thin lines of White-Gold thread on the inside. As magic metals also seemed to help with other intelligence-based ability other than just magic, Eisen figured that would be a good idea.
Either way, Eisen then tried to shave parts of the lense down in a way that would make it possible to use it as a sort of magnifying glass to make it possible to inspect monsters from a little further away than normal. And then, the old man got started on the enchantments for this lens, which was a simple enchantment meant to enhance the range and effect of Dragoon’s Appraisal.
With a satisfied nod, Eisen tried to look through everything, finding that, while most of the lens was obscured due to the carvings, it was still possible to see through the center of the lens as normal. Eisen figured that should be enough.
And then with just a little bit of mana poured into the lens, it would activate the effect and push the information through the thread that connected the lens to an enchantment placed inbetween the hard cardboard Eisen used as a base to put the leather onto and the piece of paper meant to hide that cardboard on the inside of the book. That enchanment would then process the information and ’write’ it onto a free page.
He did kind of have to use a small gem enchanted with Evalia’s element for this as well, but he figured it was fine. It was hidden and quite small, just big enough to produce the little bit of Ink that would be necessary to write onto the pages.
After Eisen then carved into the cover of the book and tightly attached the thin metal base that would allow the lens to be snapped off relatively easily, but not too easily to have it randomly fall off, he pushed the lens into the Book Cover and nodded his head in satisfaction.
"Seems good like this." Eisen muttered to himself with a light smile, and then recognized this item as finished before waving the information page away after confirming that everything seemed to work as intended.
He didn’t want to try it out yet, considering that he didn’t want to fill the book up with anything that Dragoon didn’t want in there, but he figured it would work well enough. And after placing the book to the side together with some more stacks of the same paper Eisen used to make this, so that Dragoon could have some pages replaced once the book filled up, the old man got started on the next item.
It had been going on inside of a ’hidden’ room behind the wooden walls in the Dungeon for a while now, the production of cloth meant for the boy’s cloak. He asked Bree and Sky to bring it with them on their way back, so he guessed he had to wait for that to be finished for now.
But before then, Eisen didn’t necessarily have all that much to do. All he needed was the cloth made using the special thread Eisen was woving, with two parts mana-crystal enchanted with Dragoon’s Changeling ability, one part mana-crystal with Eisen’s growth-change ability, and then again three parts regular cotton thread.
Using that same thread, just without the three parts regular cotton, Eisen would then sew the proper enchantment into the inside of the cloak, fit it to the dimensions Eisen saw Dragoon have before, and then he would be basically done.
So that meant all he had to do now was wait for Sky and Bree to return, and until then, Eisen could care for some of the customers. A few more people gathered when Eisen was momentarily working on the glass lense just now, because he was doing so within the boundaries of the stall, but they stayed when they saw the quality of the different items laying on display in front of them.
And Kirisho was also doing an amazing job taking care of these customers. Maybe she had experience as a sales- or clerks-woman when she was still alive? Either way, Eisen was pretty glad to see that she was fitting in so well.
Once everything calmed down a little bit again, the old man figured he should take a look at one of the screens inside of his Apron, the one connected to CB-1, who was flying around the area the Dungeon was set down to let Eisen get a rough idea of what was happening around there.
It seemed like there were a couple of people trying to enter through the gate, just as Eisen expected, although not all of them necessarily seemed to be adventurers or combatists. A few of them might have been just quite curious.
But Eisen didn’t really care too much as long as they didn’t cause any trouble. People dying inside of the Dungeon should give a fair amount of experience to Sigurd and Fafnir as well, although Eisen hoped to only let that happen to players, meaning that NPC’s were actually given a bit of preferential treatment.
Because Sigurd was there and could overlook each and every part of the Dungeon and those inside of it at all times, the Core Guardian make sure to properly guide any injured NPC’s to either the ’safe room’ at the end of the floor where they could teleport to the start using the platforms, or the start of the floor they were currently on to get to the safe room of the last floor, just depending on what was closer.
Although even then, Sigurd would only do that if the lives of those NPCs were actually in danger if they didn’t manage to get out. After all, that would be too unfair otherwise.
If the ’Living Dungeon’ actually became as big a deal as Eisen expected it too become, he figured that some people would start noticing that only players ever died in there and start complaining or try to use unfair tricks, but that was an issue that needed to be taken care of when it appeared.
And soon enough, Eisen also managed to spot Sky and Bree getting out of the Dungeon, so the old man made CB-1 fly right in front of them. Although it did seem to surprise them for a moment, they soon relaxed when they noticed it was just one of Eisen’s items. On top of that, they seemed to have understood what the old man wanted to hear about as well.
"Everything’s going as planned, and we got that cloth for you as well. There’s a bunch of people trying to ’scout’ the Dungeon out though. They’re obviously not capable of fighting as well. A couple of rich guys were running around trying to find ’the one in charge’, but Sigurd was able to avoid them pretty easily and make sure they weren’t causing any trouble." Sky explained as the two Fey-Kin kept walking forward back toward the Town gates, and Bree nodded her head excitedly as she grabbed the straps of her large backpack and walked next to her brother.
"Yup yup!" She exclaimed, and Eisen just chuckled in response before making CB-1 do a ’nod-like’ motion, which was surprisingly tough to figure out considering that it was nothing but a big eyeball with wings.
"Now stop watching us so one-sidedly, it’s creepy..." The Fey-Kin boy admitted with a slightly wry smile, so the old man simply agreed and made CB-1 turn off inside of Sky’s hand, where it probably rolled up and covered itself in its metal-and-leather wings, although Eisen now wasn’t able to actually confirm that anymore.
Either way, as they were on their way now, Eisen figured he should get to preparing everything that he might need at all to make this item, although it didn’t really take all that long, considering that he just needed a table, some thread, and his Multiool which included needled and a knife in it.
And so... the old man really could only wait, which he did for the next little while until he could see the two Fey-Kin siblings approach the stall.
Once they actually reached it, Bree quickly put her backpack onto the ground and switftly reached into it to grab the cloth that was made inside of the Dungeon, and Eisen happily nodded his head.
"Perfect. Thanks, you two." The old man said with a satisfied smile and looked at the black cloth, which was dyed with a very simple setup made using Evalia’s element.
And so, the first thing that Eisen did was properly cut the cloth up into the different pieces that he needed, and considering how simple the shape of a cloak was from a Tailor’s perspective, that was done pretty quickly, same with the sewing, which realy just required Eisen to sew in long lines for a little while longer than for other clothes.
Like most cloaks Eisen was familiar with, this one also had a hood, just because it seemed like it would be a good fit for someone that wanted to be able to change their appearance more easily.
Then, the only thing that was left to do was the creation of the sewed enchantments on the inside of the cloak. It always felt a little to risky on the outside, considering that thread was easily cut or snapped in two especially then, so putting it on the inside seemed like the better choice to Eisen. It would also hide the actual effect of the cloak to people that might be proficient at reading Enchantments.
All the enchantments really did, however, were to support the shapeshifting ability of Dragoon and put the ’Growth Change’ effect onto him to an amount to fit the target that he was changing into.
And then, the only thing that was left for Eisen to do was a very simple thing.
Into the neck of the cloak, and the lower end of the book’s spine, Eisen placed his ’Craftsman’s Symbol’.
