The sudden exclamation of the young Lady astonished Kyle, but it made the Vampire in front of him seem more humane.
He was not sure what he should think of her and his senses were on high alert.
Luckily, after she had exclaimed loudly, the bewitchment on him seemed to have dispersed.
It was almost as if she had toyed around with him enough.
And, after the short but intense moment in which they had eye contact, something had changed about the young Lady.
She was just staring at him intently.
Had Kyle had the faintest idea of what she was thinking, he would have run for his life.
While he had been confused, Beatrice, the young Lady, had ascertained something.
In the short moment in which their eyes had locked, she had been able to make sure that Kyle was the one she had been searching for her whole life.
Because of that, her entire demeanor changed in an instant.
And she was desperate enough to grasp the opportunity that was laid out in front of her.
Beatrice was no different than the other Undeads who all had the same opinion about Kyle- that he was worth trying to rely on!
With that in mind, she sized him up once again and approached him.
Her natural scent and the way she moved were still the same as before.
She was a true seductress, but without the additional bewitching sensation, Kyle could ignore this rather easily.
"To answer your question, my little beauty, I am Karnias daughter, but at the same time I'm not. Also, it is true that he is one of the Old souls that reincarnated!"
Frowning deeply, Kyle felt that she was enjoying making him feel miserable.
And, this fact was annoying.
However, at the same time, the young woman in front of him seemed to be different in comparison to the other Undeads.
On one hand, it looked like she was confident in her capabilities and had high self-esteem.
This could be easily deduced from the way she carried herself.
Yet, on the other hand, Kyle felt as if the young woman was trying to figure out how far she can go without overdoing it.
It was almost as if she never had contact with someone other than the Undeads.
Sensing that he was the one she had been searching for made her tread carefully.
Hence, she decided to test the waters by exaggerating things before suddenly slowing down the moment he retaliated.
Because of the assumptions that began to emerge in his mind, Kyle decided to not rush things.
"I don't know why you call me little beauty, but that's disturbing. Can you please refer to me as Kyle…?"
Given the seriousness and confidence in his voice, Kyle felt that he could stand up against the young Lady.
Meanwhile, Beatrice was trying her best to hide her insecurity with a poker face.
However, what she didn't know was that her eyes were betraying her.
They clearly revealed the uncertainty she was feeling as she answered him.
"That's….fine, Kyle. My name is Beatrice, I'm a Vampire and the Seal of the Undead heart!"
Followed by her name, Beatrice had given Kyle the information about her purpose in life, or to be precise what her purpose had been since until today.
She knew that the words were confusing, but owing to what she was feeling when she had stared straight into Kyle's eyes, and the moment his tear had dropped on the spatial ring that had her insignia embedded on it, Beatrice had to go all in.
That was not only for her own gain but also the other Undeads, who she had relied on for her entire life.
Her relationship with them was unique and a bit complicated.
And, if she were, to be honest, she had no idea what they really were to her.
Nevertheless, they were forced to stay together and were confined to the walls of the castle.
Being in an enclosed space with nowhere else to go, they were always trying to dominate and control each other to a certain extent.
Staring at Beatrice, the Vampire, Kyle felt conflicted and confused.
Initially, he wanted to ask her more about Karnias, and what exactly she had meant. But now that she referred to herself as 'The Seal of the Undead Heart' he was even more confused.
There were many things that had bothered him before when he had encountered the Undead powerhouses at the end of the maze trial.
However, until now, he had no idea what exactly that one hue, each of the powerhouses had, might mean.
Only the six powerhouses had that hue while the other Undeads didn't have it.
As such, something had to be special about them.
Yet, he had never received a chance to enquire about it until now and had simply been curious about a lot of things during the last few months.
That had been frustrating, even more so because the Undeads had bombarded him with questions without giving him the chance to ask a few too.
However, facing Beatrice, Kyle was quickly adapting to the situation.
Even if she had tried to seduce him earlier, Kyle felt more comfortable talking to Beatrice than the other Undeads.
He was not sure why exactly this was the case.
But the reason didn't really matter because he felt as if he might be able to ask a few questions.
"Seal of the Undead Heart? What exactly is that, and how can you be its seal?"
It was not difficult to hear Kyle's confusion in his voice.
To her surprise, his voice was void of any fear, which Beatrice found intriguing.
From a young age, she had been told that all kinds of beings would either fear Vampires or try to kill them.
Because of that, she had been hesitant to encounter any kind of intelligent human or human-like beings inside the Razkadan castle.
Despite that, she had eagerly awaited them owing to one particular reason.
Yet, instead of revealing everything to Kyle, who was confused, Beatrice felt as if she had to approach the situation in a more intelligent way.
Right now, she only knew that Kyle was the being she had been looking for.
However, there were too many unknown factors about the young man, which may seem uninteresting to the other Undeads.
Unfortunately, for her purpose, these things were important to know because her future depended on them!
Clearing her throat, she slowly moved around Kyle, who seemed to be much more relaxed than he was earlier. After giving it some thought, she simply replied,
"You can compare the Undead heart to the generator of the Razkadan castle's death aura.
I am connected to it. The moment I die, the Undead heart stops working, and if the Undead heart stops beating, I'll die too.
Sounds pretty simple, right? Either way, in order to keep producing a death aura, the Undead heart requires Undeads to be around it.
In return, it generates the death aura which the Undeads require to retain their sentience for a longer period and to prevent their cultivation base from deteriorating...or something like that I was told.
Apparently, the Undead heart cannot be moved once it has been sealed to a being.
Forcefully doing so, would result in the death of both the Undead heart and myself.
This is the reason I stayed inside the castle for my entire life.
As for your earlier question, Karnias just raised me up after my biological mother abandoned me shortly after I was born.
I do not know the exact reason why I was abandoned, but does it even matter now…? Either way...Karnias found me and he was forced to bind me to the Undead Heart that was in his possession because I was on the brink of death.
That way, he was able to find a seal for the Undead Heart, and save my life.
Other than binding me to the Undead Heart, there was no other way to rescue me.
Furthermore, as long as I am connected to the Undead Heart, I do not need to drink blood in order to stay alive."
After finishing a lengthy monologue, Beatrice returned to the crucifix.
While making use of her blood affinity she added,
"Apparently, I'm a rare type of mutated Vampire that needs enormous amounts of blood. The stronger I become the more blood I require. And, it has to be the blood of intelligent races, the higher their cultivation, the better!
There is only one type of blood that is an exception!"
Staring at Beatrice, who controlled the blood she had manifested out of nowhere, Kyle was not sure why his question had turned into a summary of Beatrice's life.
He was also oblivious to why the Vampire girl was bombarding him with the information he didn't even ask for.
Despite that, Kyle felt somewhat bad for her after hearing her story. Thus, he couldn't help but remark,
"Soo...that means you have been living in this castle since it was constructed? That's...long, and you've probably lived a lonely life if I'm really the first living being of an intelligent race that entered the Razkadan castle...That's cruel…"
While Kyle felt bad, Beatrice smiled faintly, seeing how genuine his sad expression was. However, instead of feeling attacked, or pitiful about herself she simply shrugged it off.
"It doesn't matter how bored I was in the past...not anymore! That's because I found what I needed- You!"
When he heard this, he instinctively touched his neck with a hand, only to realize what he was doing a moment later. Trying to keep a calm expression he asked,
"So you mean that I'm the type of blood you need? Even though I don't know my blood type...you know it for certain?...What...are you planning to do with me?"
Seeing how hard Kyle was trying to keep his voice from trembling, Beatrice couldn't help but laugh lightly. This laugh sounded pleasing and it calmed Kyle, which was unexpected.
"It's not your blood type, but the fact that you are a unique person...my soulmate! Either way, I do not want to kill you or anything like that. In order to survive without being the Seal of the Undead Heart, I do not need much blood as long as it's from my soulmate!"
Frowning deeply, Kyle couldn't help but stare at her with an aghast look.
Not even in his wild imaginations, would he have expected her to say something like that.
"Soulmate? You mean me?? How would you know something like that?"
He was utterly confused, even more so when he had to solve the riddles.
Yet, Beatrice's answer was not exactly helpful as she merely shrugged her shoulders, unable to give him an answer.
Even if that was not exactly reassuring, he was glad that Beatrice wouldn't pounce on him to suck him dry.
In the end, she didn't behave nor appear like someone who had lived for tens of thousand years.
But, her cultivation base was something that spoke volumes about her prowess.
If he was not wrong, she was even stronger than the other Undeads.
This was because unlike them her cultivation base didn't deteriorate with time but it increased.
It was a sharp contrast to how the Undeads were faring as time passed.
While it was important for Kyle that Beatrice wouldn't leave him like a bloodless corpsesuck dry his blood to leave the Razkadan castle while being alive, there were quite a few disadvantages he just began to realize.
Being able to comprehend the other information the Vampire had given to him, he hoped that the entire mess he had been dragged into, would end soon.
Unfortunately, this didn't seem to be the case, because it was just the beginning of everything!
'Sooo…to put it simply, unsealing the Undead Heart will force Beatrice to drink blood, preferably mine because she is confident that I'm her soulmate, even if I have no idea how…
Either way, the Undeads would lose their sentience and cultivation much faster once the Undead heart is freed from the seal… was that why Li wanted to figure out more about my Nurture ability? The other Undeads were also interested in it...do they want me to nurture the Undead heart, or what exactly are they planning?
From the looks of it, the hues every Undead powerhouse had around them had to do with the Undead heart.
The said hue is tens of times thicker around Beatrice but was extremely thin around the others...does that mean that they were preserving their sentience and strength through the Undead heart?
If I'm right...they would want me to nurture the Undead heart in order to allow them to break their seals on it? Is that it?
But in that case, what exactly would they do afterward? Leaving the death aura would weaken them much faster as their own aura has not yet reached the threshold of a domain...that is if I understood the information provided by Li, Lahan and Knirg correctly.'
While being deep in thoughts, Kyle tried to figure out what the Undeads, and also Beatrice wanted from him. This was becoming increasingly difficult to figure out than he had initially expected.
As such, he couldn't help but stare straight into Beatrice's faintly glowing crimson eyes before he straightforwardly asked.
"I have some theories and assumptions about your plans, and why you and the other five Undeads would need me. But, my brain won't stop churning out more possibilities. So, can all of you please reveal what exactly you want from me?
I know that I'm not able to demand anything in my current situation, but I have had enough of being threatened during the last few months...so it would be great if I were to get some much-needed information!"
Initially, Kyle didn't want to be too demanding.
But in the end, he sounded like he finally had enough of their gimmicks.
Now, he wanted clear answers and showed that he wouldn't do anything if the Undeads wouldn't come clean right now.
That was something Kyle wished for, but he had not yet fully comprehended everyone's personality. Thus, he had planned to sound less demanding than he actually did.
However, after thinking about it, he shrugged his shoulders while awaiting an answer.
Yet, before Beatrice could even give an answer, a gigantic black gate manifested from the shadows.
Soon after, the five Undeads emerged from within.
"You seem to be tensed up, brat!" Li, the Lich remarked.
Right beside him was Nitran who stepped forward and said the words Kyle had been dying to hear.
"Youngest reincarnation of the old universe, let me tell you the true origin of the Razkadan castle, and why we are here!"
