Dinner was a quiet affair and no scuffle broke out if one were to exclude the situation Kyle had caused with his smile.
Nina had completely ignored his smile, causing Kyle to wonder whether he had become ugly.
Wanting to take a look at his reflection, he saw himself in the polished shield.
It hung only a few meters away from him.
What he saw in the shield as his reflection was horrifying.
It was extremely difficult for him to stay seated, and not to rush towards the washroom.
He had a sudden urge to give his face a good scrub and wash it using the small bucket of water that had been placed right next to a wooden basin.
'Why do I look so much dirtier than Selene??' He wondered while looking at Selene with doubtful eyes.
When they returned to their room, Kyle bathed for the first time in an eternity.
He was appalled to see the dark and muddy water running down his body and into the drain.
While he was bathing, Selene had closed her eyes.
She was trying to cultivate instead of being distracted by the sound of water behind her.
Her eyes twitched every single time she heard a splash and it was only when it stopped that she could start cultivating.
However, before she did so, Kyle remarked,
"You can take a bath too." He spoke those words casually without giving it much thought. But hearing his words made Selene flinch.
She hesitantly opened her eyes and shot a short glance towards Kyle.
Selene then averted her gaze to the Emerald fox.
His Spirit Soul seemed to be soaked wet too and was climbing up Kyle's clothes.
While Kyle was trying to get hold of his Spirit Soul to dry it, Selene could only sigh as she asked herself.
'Am I not attractive enough?'
Yet, only a moment later her eyes widened as she realized what she had thought.
Once Kyle got hold of the Emerald Fox he stared at Selene.
She seemed to be frozen in place as he repeated himself once again.
"Don't you want to take a bath? Is the water too dirty? There is still clean water in the bucket but if it's not enough I can ask for another fill. We could also change the water inside the wooden basin if you want."
Kyle tried to be considerate but it looked like he was doing something wrong.
In response, Selene shook her head violently before lifting her hand.
"It's fine! Just close your eyes and cultivate!"
She sounded somewhat harsh and Kyle wondered if she was really the same Selene he got to know during the last few weeks.
'Wasn't she shy and hesitant beforeā¦?'
If he knew that she was trying to hide her embarrassment, by all means, he would've laughed.
But somehow, he couldn't help but feel as if something was wrong.
Thus, he tried to recall if he made a mistake, but couldn't think of anything!
In the end, he could only shrug his shoulders before starting to cultivate with his Spirit Soul.
Half a day passed in a blur while Kyle cultivated.
Thus, he didn't even realize that Selene had taken a bath too before she put on a clean set of clothes.
After that, she had started to cultivate next to him.
They didn't sleep and cultivated throughout the night.
They knew very well that they had to increase their strength as fast as possible.
Too many things were waiting for them to be completed and achieved.
Hence, both felt that it was essential to become stronger.
Additionally, their gut feeling told them that something about Dirk was truly off!
He might look kind and amiable on the outside, but Selene's trained danger senses warned her against Dirk.
Meanwhile, Kyle analyzed everything in a detailed manner.
It was early in the morning and the first rays of sunlight reached the town's walls.
They shone through the window of their room as both Kyle and Selene finished cultivating.
With a morning workout that started with stretching their body, Kyle began his workout.
Next to him, Selene was following every movement.
She was clueless as to why they had to warm up before leaving the house.
It might not be important for now because they were inside a safe town.
Though it didn't mean that they could throw caution to the wind.
It was always better to be fit and prepared.
And, having a morning routine was the best they could do, even more so to relieve himself of any tension.
Once the workout was completed they had a quick breakfast Milli provided them free of charge.
It was a gesture to thank them for listening to her story.
After finishing breakfast, Kyle paid her four Pryr crystals and two Maest crystals to extend their stay in the same room for five more days.
Milli was glad to hear this and she didn't sense that Kyle or Selene had any doubts about her story.
She was oblivious to the fact that they had seen through her pretense which was also good.
Before going out to hunt, Kyle had to lease something from the Guild.
Otherwise, they would end up as the day before with too many corpses and too few hands to move everything effortlessly.
The Guild was not far and was only a few minutes away.
Thus, after they had left Milli's guest house, both Kyle and Selene entered the Guildhall in no time.
Different from the day before, the Emerald Fox was sleeping inside Kyle.
He was not visible to anyone which was an advantage.
Thus he approached Gaby, who was already sitting behind the reception desk, at the exact counter as before.
"Good morning, Gaby!" Kyle greeted her with a faint smile.
His words caused the receptionist who was sitting next to Gaby to look at him with confusion.
"Who permitted you to call me by my first name, brat?" Gaby asked. She glared at him, looking up from the book she was trying to read.
Her eyes looked the same as the day before, but instead of avoiding her, Kyle stared right into them.
Due to the incident with Dirk and Gaby, he had been unable to test something he wanted to.
As such, Kyle had decided that he would figure it out in a different way.
This caused him to greet Gaby cheerfully before he activated his Nurture ability.
Looking into her eyes, Kyle figured out what he had wanted to see.
Gaby, on the other hand, could only perceive how Kyle's emerald-colored eyes were gleaming in vigor as they flickered vibrantly.
Gaby was labeled 'blind' by around 80% of the people she encountered.
Despite that, the young man in front of her seemed to look at her without showing any pity.
Similarly, the young Lohar next to him was completely unbothered by this fact.
Before she could react further, Kyle intervened in her thoughts.
"I would like to lend three spatial pouches with the storage space equivalent to big backpacks!"
Gaby had already calmed down from the incident the day before, but she couldn't help but feel that something about his eyes was odd!
Both Kyle and Selene were barely at the Initial rank of the Fortification stage.
Despite that, Kyle's fluctuations were extremely distinct and different compared to the mana fluctuations she and other Aldras had.
'Maybe he is a variant?' She assumed before taking out the three spatial pouches Kyle wanted to lend.
"That will cost 6 Pryr crystals for 24 hours."
Kyle had already made a rough estimate in his mind.
This was the reason for him to lodge a room in Milli's guest house for five more days.
Abruptly switching from Milli's guest house to some other place after hearing Dirk's story would be weird. It was simply not necessary to fuss about it.
At least for now, and as long as nobody intervened in their own plan.
With three small spatial pouches that were equivalent to big backpacks, Kyle was ready to hunt small beast groups around the Vila town.
Initially, Kyle had planned to remain silent about what he could make of Gaby's eyes.
But in the end, he felt that it wouldn't even cost him a penny to give her a little hope.
Being courteous and cheerful was the least he could do in an effort to brighten her day knowing that she had lost almost everything she held dearly.
While he was still looking at the female receptionist, his Nurture ability was still activated as he asked politely.
"If this is nothing too personal to ask, what exactly would you do if you were to regain your eyesight?"
Due to his ability, Kyle knew that he could heal her.
He could sense a dense hue around her eyes that looked like something was clumped together.
Despite being unable to tell what exactly it was, he knew that his ability could heal it.
All he would require to do that was a sufficient supply of energy to the Nurture ability.
Kyle was also able to perceive the young receptionist's cultivation veins that could be nurtured.
He could do that with every being except himself as he had to nurture his Spirit Soul first.
First, Gaby assumed Kyle to be one of those who wanted to mock her.
She was about to throw a fit when she sensed the familiar fluctuations from someone on her side.
Gaby didn't even have to turn her head to know that a red-eared Lohar was looking at them.
This caused Gaby to calm down before she stared at Kyle once again.
He seemed to be too serious to joke, which was confusing.
Kyle sounded younger than she was, and there was literally no reason for him to ask this question right now.
As such, she wanted to ignore him.
But upon looking at him again, she noticed that Kyle was patiently waiting for an answer.
Sighing deeply, Gaby could only curse inwardly.
She was inclined to think that the young man was way too pushy.
However, even then, she couldn't help but feel that it was the right decision to reveal her deepest thoughts!
