Splitting the Heavens

Chapter 1058: Stargazer Inheritance

Chapter 1058: Stargazer Inheritance

Like Talisman Masters, Formation Masters, Alchemy Masters, and Blacksmith Masters, Stargazers were also split into different ranks.

According to news Yan Ming brought back from the Heavenly Star Palace, a rank one Stargazer was just an ordinary Astrology Student. Those in the second rank were called an Astrology Scholar, and those in the third rank were called an Astronomer. Only after reaching the fourth rank could they be considered Stargazers.

“What level are you at now?” Deputy Patriarch Liu Zhiyuan asked after hearing what Yan Ming said.

All of them were gathered in the main hall of the institution.

As the inheritance not only concerned the Heavenly Star Palace, it was far too important for the Tongyou Institution. It was related to the Heaven Observation Sect, and the semi-complete Stargazer inheritance the Tongyou Institution already had. They also had the Star Observatory that acted as the Elysium’s Heaven Supporting Jade Pillar.

Kou Chongxue, the deputy patriarchs of the Tongyou Institution, and the other potential Stargazer were gathered in the main hall. Even Shang Xia was present.

“Patriarch, I am currently a rank two Astrology Scholar. Those sent by the other great powers are mostly at my level and there isn’t a single Astronomer among us. I suspect that the Heavenly Star Palace has been hiding the key to the inheritance, causing us to be unable to learn more…”

Neither Kou Chongxue nor the deputy patriarchs were surprised.

After all, if the Tongyou Institution was in their place, they would have done the same. In fact, they might have even taken a more extreme approach.

A cold snort eventually left Liu Zhiyuan’s lips. “What about the Heavenly Star Palace’s disciples? What level have they reached?”

Yan Ming muttered, “They haven’t produced anyone past the second rank, but…”

Liu Zhiyuan’s expression lightened up when she started speaking earlier, but it quickly sank again. “What?”

“... The Heavenly Star Palace might have another secret inheritance and I suspect that they already produced a rank three Astronomer. They might even possess a Stargazer.” Yan Ming continued.

This time, Liu Zhiyuan didn’t need to continue asking. Yun Jing spoke up instead, “Tell us about the reasons behind your suspicions.”

After thinking for a moment, Yan Ming started speaking about something else altogether, “Since I have been studying the incomplete inheritance our institution owns, I might look like a rank two Astrology Scholar, but I am able to advance into the third rank any time. I only chose not to avoid suspicion.”

Yun Jing nodded in response. “Do you mean to say that the incomplete inheritance we have is the key to stepping into the third rank?”

“Exactly. The inheritance we have points to the key to entering the third rank. It’s to wash our eyes in starlight, or we can place a drop of Starry Water into them to turn them into a pair of Starry Eyes. It’s the most important step to becoming a rank three Astronomer. The Heavenly Star Palace might have described the process of entering the third rank, but they never told anyone how to obtain their Starry Eyes.” Yan Ming explained.

Shang Bo looked at Shang Xia before turning to Kou Chongxue. He muttered, “If we want to draw on the power of starlight, only Martial Dipper Realm cultivators will be of any use… Maybe the key to being a Stargazer lies in their skill… Can they do it with the help of the Star Observatory?”

Ji Wenlong also asked, “Could it be the reason the Heavenly Star Palace is so adamant about building the Star Observatory?”

Kou Chongxue looked at Yan Ming who was deep in thought and chuckled, “What else have you thought of? Feel free to speak your mind.”

“Yes.” Yan Ming replied respectfully before she continued, “I also suspect that the Heavenly Star Palace didn’t reconstruct the Star Observatory to attract Starry Water or the like. In fact, it might just be a small reason behind their desire to reconstruct the observatory. They seem to have an even more important reason in mind…”

Yun Jing laughed, “Of course we thought of that. Since the Heavenly Star Palace had the guts to get the 6 great powers to pool their resources to restore the observatory, they naturally have their reasons. You should just focus on telling us what you found out. You don’t have to worry if you’re right or wrong, or if we have our considerations.”

Yan Ming nodded in agreement and added, “I am confident that I can become a rank three Astronomer immediately, but I’m afraid that’s as far as I will be able to go…”

Liu Zhiyuan seemed more impatient than the rest and he quickly questioned, “Why is that so?”

“Even though the Heavenly Star Palace didn’t reveal it to all of us, to be a Stargazer, one has to refine extermination origins related to the stars!” Yan Ming responded.

“Is that recorded in the inheritance we have?” Liu Zhiyuan frowned.

Nodding, Yan Ming explained, “That’s something I concluded after going through our inheritance and what the Heavenly Star Palace revealed.”

Shang Xia, who had been quiet the entire time, finally spoke. “You’re in the Martial Dipper Realm and your cultivation has far surpassed the Martial Extermination Realm. If being a Stargazer really requires one to refine an extermination origin that is related to the stars, it might really be a detrimental path for you to take.”

Shang Xia studied the part of inheritance the institution had. Even though he had never thought of being a Stargazer, there was no harm in studying more to widen his horizons.

Using Starry Water to refine their eyes was fine as it was. However, if one needed to refine a specific extermination origin, it would be of great detriment to her cultivation. She would be rushing to her death if she tried anything stupid.

As soon as Shang Xia spoke, everyone understood the key to the entire situation.

Constructing the Star Observatory was definitely related to collecting extermination origins that were related to the stars. It was also one of the most important reasons the Heavenly Star Palace wanted to rebuild it.

However, the institution used a lot of resources to nurture Stargazers. Naturally, they wouldn’t want to see their progress stop at the third rank.

Liu Zhiyuan grumbled indignantly, “Don’t we have any other way…”

After thinking for a second, Yan Ming muttered, “The Heavenly Star Palace might possess a special art to bypass the restriction, allowing Martial Dipper Realm experts to also become a Stargazer, but…”

Even though she didn’t complete her sentence, what she wanted to say was obvious.

There was no way they would share it with others!

“Hmph, the Heavenly Star Palace is truly one of a kind!” Liu Zhiyuan complained.

All of a sudden, Yan Ming added, “I had a strong premonition when I was studying in the Heavenly Star Pavilion recently. It’s the fact that there might be 2 different paths to becoming a Stargazer. The first is to follow the inheritance, but there seems to be some sort of martial inheritance that exists which connects closely to the path of a Stargazer. Moreover, I strongly suspect that the Heavenly Star Palace is focused on the second path…”

As soon as she spoke, everyone who was deep in thought snapped awake. Kou Chongxue and Shang Xia, the True Immortals of the institution, leaped to their feet, shocking everyone in the hall.

“The martial path of a Stargazer is actually a path in itself?!” Shang Xia’s expression changed. Her words seemed to clear up the fog in his mind.

“I see… Alright… The Heavenly Star Palace has done it alright.” Kou Chongxue growled in a frosty voice. “They really played us all this time! I didn’t think that they would be able to come up with something like this!”

As though trying to prove Kou Chongxue and Shang Xia right, a powerful and majestic ray of starlight fell from the sea of stars and passed through the heavenly screen before landing on the Star Observatory in the Jiao Continent.
